Less than 3 weeks after the first impressive poster for Where the Wild Things Are, we’re given another that I like even better.
The Troggs said it best:
Wild Thing. I think I love you. (But I want to know for sure.)

My gosh, I haven’t been this excited for a movie since, since… well, last year. But really… I’m super pumped about this thing. I’ve watched the trailer more times than I’m willing to keep track of.
Mufasa, is that you?
Really thrilled for this- but I always imagined somebody like Kate Winslet (The Reader, Revolutionary Road) playing the mother. Catherine Keener is ok I guess.
I’d kill to hear the music that Karen O and Carter Burwell are making for this movie.
Watermelons
oh LAWD! I love Kate Winslet but DAMN! don’t you get tired? LMAO!!!
i wana cry.. i relly do.. this looks to be a thing of beauty.. catherine keener is a fantastic actress and an inspired choice for this project — here’s hoping she gets some award attention.. her body of work — “lovely & amazing,” “into the wild,” and “walking & talking” to name a few — is precious.. i wana cry…
Watermelons, I’m starting to worry about you…
The poster really is beautiful. I’m so excited for this film I can hardly contain it.
… as in last year, the most interesting projects are coming from the fantastique genre.
On unrelated news, this was published in Spain right now… http://www.publico.es/culturas/216886/cruise/travolta/protagonistas/remake/hombres/destino John Travolta and Tom Cruise remaking “Butch Cassidy & The Sundance Kid” in a Cruise produced movie. Still looking for a writer for the screenplay, but this looks like a razzie lock (no matter the quality of the movie).
oh, thank you for specifying Kate Winslet from Revolutionary Road and The Reader, I thought you meant the one that was in Titanic, Iris, and Eternal Sunshine. thanks for clearing that up for me.
Seriously though:
I CAN’T WAIT FOR THIS MOVIE
Hey, I think it comes out on my late uncle’s birthday. And wild thing was one of his favorite songs.
:’)
I think this is a sign to go see the film in his honor. I’ll be there opening day.
i hope spike makes a good one ……being john m is good for the first 4o minutes or so…the orchid movie: no no. However his videos are often arresting. And he had the good sense to be with sofia coppola.
and he is savy about box office…..
I though the trailer for this made the movie kind of seem pedestrian.
Ryan,
Aren’t you a little young to remember the Troggs?
BTW: This poster is my new wallpaper.
The magic of youtube, HaroldsMaude. I knew the lyrics, but last night when I tried to find a clip was the first time in my life I ever heard the word “Troggs.”
They make everything so… groo-vee!
Yeah Watermelons, you know what, maybe Sly Stallone could use Kate for The Expendables, maybe instead of Jet Li, she would be wonderful she can do anything, right?
Alfredo- Year One
I do not agree with your choice of replacements for Stallone’s The Expendables. If anything, Kate (Revolutionary Road) Winslet, TRUE star of Sense and Sensibility, should have been the first person called to replace Forest Whitaker.
So its not just me!
I’m so in love with the trailer for this movie, I want to hide it in a box and cherish it forever.
Its all so beautifully shot & handwritten.
Sigh… Love the Spike Jonze’s of the world!
Gosh – I am getting so weary of hearing about the lovely Ms Winslet (The Life of David Gale, Enigma).
I know she COULD, but she really shouldn’t be cast in EVERY role EVER written for a human (or otherwise) being. It would soon get older than she did in The Reader, and it would be so greedy.
Aww. Peekaboo!
It looks like fluffy took a big chunk out of the tree trunk.
Spike Jonze seems to have kept the book’s spirit intact.
No offense Watermelons, but you’re kind of oblivious. As long as you don’t stalk Kate Winslet, I’ll be fine with your eternal (if obnoxious) praise of her.
Great to see a second poster! I admit I have been excited over this one for months, althought I am skeptical about Jonze (in rare agreement with Richard)
This film is definitely the one I’m anticipating the most this year. The screenplay was sheer brilliance, and I love Jonze (BJM was fantastic from start to finish). I can’t wait!
