• The Phenomenon: The Comic that Changed Comics

I’m one of those who liked the theatrical cut of Watchmen enough to see it twice, so I’m looking forward to the extra 28 minutes of footage. There are already rumors of an third version, 205 minutes long, incorporating the animated sub-story, Tales of the Black Freighter, I think I’m satisfied having the two stand as companions instead of blending them together.

While I enjoyed it, it’s easily the most disappointing film going experience ever. And I say that as someone who enjoyed the Prequels.
I loved the film, looking forward to more of it in the Director’s Cut, which hopefully includes a bit more fleshing out of Veidt (the biggest flaw in the film for me)…if only they’d go ahead and give us the Black Freighter edit…
I’m pretty sure that in this new cut, Snyder still misses the fucking point of WATCHMEN.
Count me out! Unless you want to torture me. Ugh. Ugh. Ugh. I think that 205 minute version is just something they made up to scare the little children into being good.
jennybee – You might be right.
“Jimmy, if you don’t quiet down, its Blue Penis for you!”
“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!”
Well I know what to get ahold of if I ever have insomnia…
I loved the film. I can’t wait to see the extended cut. I am disappointed that the film did not catch on.
It was lost on so many people.
Agreed with RRA… I already endured a 162 minute long murder of one of my favorite graphic novels, why add another half hour to it?
what was “lost” was a good director for this project (Paul Greengrass, Darren Aronofsky… aah, what could’ve been!).
Again, couldn’t disagree more with some comments above. As we say here in Portugal, “Gosto não se discute, lamenta-se”.
And again we have RRA swearing to prove his point, how much more childish can anyone get.
Watchmen the movie is the perfect adaptation of Watchmen the graphic novel, which I own and love and cherish since it was released.
It is, still, my favorite movie of 2009.
The reason why I am NOT buying this on release day is because this release does not feature a seamless director’s / theatrical version of the film, and does not include the animated movie, or the docu-fictional one, released a few months ago; because there were more extras produced for the film, not just the ones detailed; and because Warner Bros recently double-dipped the 2008 blu release of Natural Born Killers, and in these serious times of recession and low cash income, double and triple dipping the home market with these half-baked releases only angers me; I’m boycoitting this from day One.
T.
hahahaha we say that here in Brazil here too, Tufas!
agree to disagree, I suppose!
Tufas – penis is a curse word?
Maybe I should instead have talked about cocks…you know, roosters.
Because the one thing wrong with the film is that it just wasn’t long enough.
No thanks.
