ONTD points us to the full length trailer of Wall‚Ä¢E, written and directed by Finding Nemo’s Andrew Stanton:
After hundreds of lonely years of doing what he was built for, WALL‚Ä¢E (short for Waste Allocation Load Lifter Earth-Class) discovers a new purpose in life (besides collecting knick-knacks) when he meets a sleek search robot named EVE. EVE comes to realize that WALL‚Ä¢E has inadvertently stumbled upon the key to the planet’s future, and races back to space to report her findings to the humans (who have been eagerly awaiting word that it is safe to return home). Meanwhile, WALL‚Ä¢E chases EVE across the galaxy and sets into motion one of the most exciting and imaginative comedy adventures ever brought to the big screen.
The film will be unleashed June 27. Animated features rule the summer. This one already looks like a heart-melting cash cow.
I’ve been browsing for a very long time, trying to find something very special in Internet. It’s hard to imagine, how much time I spent searching for sensations. I have tried to find something interesting and not very serious, just to enjoy reading it. I can’t believe that I’m finally here and that I found everything I was looking for. Interesting information, interesting people. That’s exactly what I needed.
Well, if something is very good but underviewed and overlooked by major awards shows, and it’s something you generally have to tell people, “hey, you should see this” without them seeking it out on their own, that, in my mind, is an underrated film. For instance, MEAN CREEK is an underrated film.
Well first off, Cars was the worst financially. Ratatouille did the best, right after Finding Nemo, overseas. Why to people keep saying The Iron Giant was underrated? Just because it was under viewed doesn’t mean it is underrated.
Thanks for looking out for my post designation, cj. This is because we both saw No Country 30 times between the two of us isn’t it?
In a totally unrelated topic, has anyone else seen HORTON HEARS A WHO yet? I just saw it today, and I could barely sit through it. The unanimous critical response is a lot nicer than how I felt. It’s like ROBOTS all over again.
Good to know, Craig. You mean like Spanish fly?
This is my first time commenting on your website, but I’ve read it for a while. Anyway, what’s the deal with the new website design? Everything seems bunched up to the middle of the page, with some things cut off and large ads surrounding text. I hope I’m not the only one experiencing this. Anyway, I love the old blog.
Oh, whoops, I meant Free. But I’ll agree with Craig too. *shrug* 🙂
Seriously, Tufas? Incredibles did very well (261M), second-best after Finding Nemo. Cars did fine financially, but the quality was a disappointment. Ratatouille was the opposite scenario–the prospect of a rat wanting to be a chef was probably a major turnoff. Why must you be so negative all the time?
Craig’s absolutely right about quality being the main draw for Pixar. Except for the Shrek films, none of Dream Works’ animated efforts have been able to match Pixar’s financial success.
I agree cj. The CG stuff may not wow anyone anymore, but in the case of Pixar the films are about the excellent stories and characters.
I think you meant Free, DBibby.
Tufas, I think the key with Pixar is that they transcend the fancy technology with great stories and characters.
I think the animators working for DreamWorks are just as talented in a visual way, but the stories aren’t there.
In a sense, I think the “wow” factor has already worn off of CG stuff, but as long as Pixar keeps up their standards, they’ll keep packing them in.
Miranda, those pills are available by prescription from Honduras.
Well, on a purely box office approach, The Incredibles, Cars and Ratatouille failed to live up to the (huge) expectations, while not being (at all) failures. In fact, I consider The Incredibles and Ratatouille the 2 finest moments in Pixar history; Wall-E might be all that, but is audience growing tired of computer generated animation?
I couldn’t agree more Craig. The Iron Giant’s my favourite animated film and one of my favourite films of any genre. I think Brad Bird’s a genius.
Pixar never disappoints and I am eagerly awaiting this movie.
I’m a grown man but I think this movies going to be a bit much for me. It looks so damn cute and filled with heart. I feel for Wall-E. I just can’t wait for this great movie to hit the big-screen.
Craig, I need some of those damn witty pills.
Could you possibly spare a few? I’ll do you a favour one day…
Um, I think it looks nice, but I don’t get the vibe everyone else is that this is going to be amazing. My interest is piqued, but I think it will be hard to beat Ratatouille.
DBibby, THE IRON GIANT is in my mind the most criminally underrated animated film of all time. I loved Ratatouille and The Incredibles, but when I think of Brad Bird on top of his game, that’s what I think of.
Well, the first trailer made me cry so the crying part’s probably a given. But yeah, no pressure!
Jeez DB, no pressure though, right?
Not to build up my expectations or anything, but if I don’t flat out love this film and cry like a little baby(like I do every time I watch The Iron Giant) then I’ll be very surprised
This is definitely on my list of must-sees for 2008.
I like to stand out on my balcony and yell OSCAR WATCH!!!
LOL, Craig.
I’m sold. Sight unseen.
Also on an unrelated note, sometimes of a cold dark night I like to stand out on my balcony and yell OSCAR WATCH!!! Like I’m Mel Gibson in Braveheart.
Screw you, AMPAS.
This film looks AMAZING. Can’t wait to see it!
What’s frustrating is now Oscar voters just assume that Pixar will make a groundbreaking, touching, funny, and fascainting film every year – so it isn’t even a “lock” for Best Animated Feature. Which is ridiculous. Wall-E looks stunning. As was EVERY OTHER Pixar film.
How are movies about rats in the kitchen, or fish, or bugs, or toys able to capture humanity like so few other films that are actually about people?
Pixar has the Best Picture every year. The rest are just runners-up.
“I’m down for making a new Best Voiceover category at the Oscars.”
I’m down with that too. This looks like it’s going to be good.
I thought “There is no way this movie has a chance at being better than Ratatouille” with the teaser trailer. But now… Wow, this thing looks incredible.
I’m down for making a new Best Voiceover category at the Oscars.
I was worried, but now I am amazed how my opinion has turned.
I saw the teaser to ratatouille, with the same worried feeling. Glad to be proven wrong in this case (not in most though).
I want an Animated Best Picture. And director. (And maybe a new reward for best voiceover, but Wall-E has barely any dialogue, and celebrities just want money. Morgan Freeman would be winning that award until death. Scrap that then. GO ANNIES!)
My God, this looks like fun! Andrew Stanton for best director!… Okay, maybe I’m exagerating (or am I?).
Check out The Oscar Nazi for year-round predictions and analysis.
Looks phenomenal.
Can we talk about how amazing and cute this movie looks?
