RoS found the new poster for Winter’s Bone, winner of the Grand Jury Prize this year at Sundance, as well as the festival’s Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award. One of the classiest one-sheets of 2010, I think (full-size after the cut). That anxious expression on the face of Jennifer Lawrence perfectly reflects the mix of dread and determination her character Ree Dolly has to sort through. There’s a terrible trail she has to follow, and Tilly is one of the most memorable female characters in a novel I’ve read for quite some time. She narrates her own story with a brittle poetry. The design here has the same quietly momentous effect.
Really nice to see a poster layout as elegantly executed as the movie it’s promoting. I have pretty high hopes for this film, so I’m glad Roadside Attractions is giving it such prestige treatment.
UPDATE: Thanks to Illapa, here’s the trailer at the NYTimes.
