Off-topic but I’ve been catching some of the trial stuff with Rupert Murdoch. And I think Geoffrey Rush should play him in the film version. That scumbag looked like a bitch up there answering even the most softball questions that were thrown at him.

Considering they kept the 10-slot-system, once again DGA will be better at predicting what to expect in the Academy’s bp-category. The DGA top5+ a few maybes ?

This may be good news for Harry Potter. It has a strong chance at PGA – blockbusters are rarely lauded for their direction, rather the entire production, and PGA have nominated another (far inferior) Potter film in the past. With 10 nominations still at PGA, films which may be on the brink of Oscar nominations could get a vital push from PGA this year.
They should go back to five nominees though, I think. The move to ten was never considered to be anything other than pandering to AMPAS and trying to remain relevant. No-one’s going to think now that this was an independent decision to begin with, no matter how long PGA keep this ten-nominee format. Five is simpler, more prestigious, stronger.
