Perhaps he has marketed his own personality in the best possible way making his cameos events in themselves. His name is a brand for any thing that deals with suspense and has entered dictionary. Hitchcock had a flair for exploiting the dramatic value of contrast. Verloc, the secret agent of Sabotage, runs an ordinary cinema hall. The characters are average people with ordinary intelligence and subdued by ordinary fears. This realism makes the haunting occurrences more shocking.

Hitchcock’s style gave a basic understanding of film authorship to a Very Young Watermelons. His cameos transformed double features at the local revival house into something of a game… Fond memories, indeed! Thank you for posting this.
