Three teasers from Sarah Polley's Take This Waltz

When Margot, 28, meets Daniel, their chemistry is intense and immediate. But Margot suppresses her sudden attraction: she is happily married to Lou, a celebrated cookbook writer. When Margot learns that Daniel lives across the street from them, the certainty about her domestic life shatters. She and Daniel steal moments throughout the steaming Toronto summer, their eroticism heightened by their restraint. Margot finally gives in to desire and in doing so, discovers some unsettling truths about herself. Swelteringly hot, bright and colorful like a bowl of fruit, Take This Waltz leads us, laughing, through the familiar but uncharted question of what long-term relationships do to love, sex, and our images of ourselves.

  1. Love Michelle, but she should take cue from Ryan Gosling and find a project where she can have some fun. Its gotta be depressing inhabiting all these miserable people all the time. I remember her being great in “Dick.”

    Good luck, Michelle!

  9. This performance will most likely be better reviewed than MY WEEK WITH MARILYN which was disappointing in test screenings. The problem is WALTZ still doesn’t have a US distributor. Someone would need to step up quickly for Oscar consideration…

Yay for more films that justify women being adulterous! They’re just so misunderstood, it’s not their fault! :criesfrompainfuleyeroll:

  13. I would love to know why Michelle Williams is always so flawless ?!

She definetely has to get an Oscar at least once.

They don’t make ‘em like they used to. It’s been forever since we’ve seen a good old-fashioned traditional romance where the adulterous woman gets stoned to death.

Saw the trailer image, saw the synopsis, thought, “Rogen will play the cuckold.”

Checked the cast list. Sure enough.

Can’t us husky guys catch a break?

And the tempter is another brow-ridged, breakfast-drinking hipster who looks like he escaped from a Strokes tribute band (see: Adrian Grenier).

Is it the new decade yet?

I’d take Seth any day ;)

Don’t think this looks like the kind of thing AMPAS would go for, but it looks good enough that perhaps it could attract their attention, much like Away from Her did.

I get a Lost in Translation vibe from this. Sarah Polley´s direction in “Away From Her” was so great.
I couldn´t believe she was 27 years old when she directed it. It was so mature.

I hope she did another good or even great movie.

To cast Seth Rogen and Sarah Silverman seems very risky eventhough I love both. I think Seth Rogen is very underrated. I´m glad he picks different material now, like this one and 50/50. I hope his performances get recognized.

  27. @therealmike I’m hoping Rogen gets recognized for 50/50 as well. It was probably his funniest role yet, but he also pulled off the serious moments beautifully. He really surprised me.

  29. Oscar-winner Sarah Silverman?!

  30. Oscar-winner Sarah Silverman?!

  31. Michelle Williams has turned out to be one of the best actresses working today. She’s given at least 4 performances in the past few years worthy of Oscar but somehow she keeps missing. Maybe her incredible performance in Meek’s Cutoff can be her ticket to the statue.

Right Ryan! That’s for adulterous males now. Because men are slaves to their libidos and women are apparently slaves to their hearts, so when a woman cheats, it’s okay because men in and of themselves, are, at terrible people. Men make women cheat. Men just cheat. Thnx Hollywood!

I LOVE movies that showcase Toronto, there are so many movies filmed here and like 1 out of every 50,000 actually uses it as the setting. First Scott Pilgrim and now this!

Wow, you seem like your harbouring some misogynistic views there buddy. Settle down a bit why don’t you.

Looks like an amazing film by the way. It seems as if Sarah Polley has really outdone her self with this film and aquired some really impressive cinematic style since her last film. Hope to get a ticket to this at TIFF.

Hey would anyone happen to know what the music is playing in the background of the third clip?
