I have no idea, and don’t intend to find out.

Um, yeah, kinda, I don’t know.
In the Kurt Russell version it took a while to find out what the Thing was if I remember correctly. So putting it in the trailer is kinda dumb if this was intended for a new generation that didn’t see the older versions. If they figure everyone’s seen an old one, then I guess there’s nothing to spoil.
Anyhoo, I love the Sawyer shout-out from Mr. Eko. ;D

Indeed! Much more effective. Nice and creepy and a little reminiscent of the original (Howard Hawks version).

Hehehe! Now that’s misdirection done right. That’s the thing about movie scares: it’s not about developing new techniques; it’s about mastering the age-old tools. And they are not easy to master.
No, I wouldn’t say the clip gives away too much, but the moment shown will be more effective in the theater if you don’t watch it now.

As I predicted back in February, Sweden’s submission is Pernilla August’s Beyond (Svinalängorna). Starring Noomi Rapace, Ola Rapace, Outi Mäenpää and Ville Virtanen, this is the movie that had everybody crying in the theater. Strong chances to be nominated, IMO.

For those who understand Swedish, the whole movie: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RMP0jX9ktMY&feature=related
Finns are happy about this nomination, cause big parts of the movie are in Finnish.

I guess this spoils a jump scare from the movie…but the scare is kind of obvious. So, imho, this does NOT reveal too much.

Holy crap! I sort of knew what was going to happen but that scared the shit out of me anyway!!! Always a sucker for Thing movies since I saw the original from the ’50s as a little kid at the movie theater (yeah, my parents were crazy to take me; had nightmares for days after).
