First 2011 No Guts, No Glory for the New York Film Critics

Let’s get this party started right. No Guts, No Glory – you get up to three choices and they have to be, preferably, really out there. I’d say picking Tree of Life, The Descendants or The Artist to win tomorrow isn’t out there. Picking Rise of the Planet of the Apes is.

Here are my three:
Best Picture — Moneyball
Best Actor — Damien Bichir, A Better Life
Best Actress — Charlize Theron, Young Adult

It’s the best I got. Do your worst.

Actual predictions you can make in our contest.

  51. I really don’t know the purpose of this exercise, Sasha can you please answer me? You have a website dedicated to predicting how the Oscar’s will nominate and choose winners, then you complain that they didn’t pick the right one and the best, then you offer your own opinion or list of what should have won, then offer this out there list. It’s like covering all the bases/throwing everything against the wall and gloating for all the predictions that stick! Sorry but I really don’t see the logic of this.

  55. The purpose is the predict three ‘out there’ choices for NYFCC. It’s building excitement and if there are any outlandish choices – maybe one of us will be right on the money.

The NBR, HFPA, LAFCC et al, are all coming along as well along with coverage and posts by Sasha and Ryan to participate in.

It’s an a open race this year, it makes it more fun.

Turn that frown upside down mister.

  59. @ Peter

This is a No Guts No Glory prediction. Sasha does this for every major awards group. It’s an exercise to make unlikely choices based on hunches with no pressure. No-one’s trying to cover all the bases – are you not familiar with this site? NGNG predictions are made here several times every awards season. What has offended you so much? Your comment has proper gotten on my nerves…
