Thanks once again to Dora for spiffing up the gallery for your entertainment pleasure. Even though the majority of ads are online now, there are still many beautiful print ads we have collected from various sources over the years. Have a look.
Print ads, to me, can celebrate the great shots in a film the way online ads can’t. Online ads can celebrate the moving image more.
Oscar season is officially upon us! Woo-Hoo!
“It’s the MOOOOOOST wonderful TIIIIIIIIIIME of the YEEEEEEEEEEEEEAR…”
Thank you, Dora!!!
cars 2 one is quite gorgeous in my opinion, never saw the film though
Yeah I love the Warrior one too. Of course. 🙂
If we were giving awards for FYC ad though, the Moneyball one gets it exactly right. If you’ve seen the movie that pretty much is the best shot in it. Best to highlight it, and it’s an important scene for Pitt. On the losing end is the ‘Destroy All Monsters’ Weinstein Company one. I’m never going to get over Death Star Thatcher Head. But if you have to include it with other posters wouldn’t you switch it for The Artist? Doesn’t it make sense to have that thing coming from the left, and the two people smooching in the center?
I didn’t realize they weren’t doing the print ads as much. That’s sad.
Love the WARRIOR one, shame it didn’t have more success as it was one of my favourite films of the year, though hopefully Nolte might get some attention
