Directed by Park Chan-wook (Oldboy). Starring Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, Matthew Goode. Opens March 1.
After India’s father dies, her Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her unstable mother. She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him.
nicole still looks great.she is still the best looking in her generation/
Sorry Kidman fans, she looks terrible. Ugh.
Always loving Chan-Wook Park.
Love this! Nicole is on point this year!!
“Hanna” was a good film and it was released early April.
btw, until the very end I thought that story would take place in Edwardian England, I don’t know why.
And there you have it, 3 Australians and 1 Brit playing Americans. Not against it, but somehow really surprised.
@ Mark
march is the month of genre films now. “Elysium” also comes out in march. Obviously these films are not typical Oscar films : one is a science fiction, the other a psychological horror. Therefore there’s no reason to release them at the end of the year.
PS : It could premiere at Berlin Film Festival
The release date for this film is a worry: if it’s any good, why is it being released in March? Also, has it done the festival rounds? From what I understand, no. This all makes me wonder.
Wow, that looks so good! I love my cold-blooded Nicole!
This definitely has shades of ‘Shadow of a Doubt’ all over it but looks more sinister. Maybe a homage of some sort, can’t wait to see a proper trailer for it now.
A part of me wants this to be Nicole’s Mommie Dearest. I just want that so badly. She’s been doing some campy stuff lately.. And I for one and ALL for that.
So is this a remake of “Shadow of a Doubt”? I mean, “Uncle Charlie”?
“Uncle Charlie, who she never knew existed, comes to live with her and her unstable mother. She comes to suspect this mysterious, charming man has ulterior motives and becomes increasingly infatuated with him.”
That’s the exact plot for “Shadow of a Doubt”, even the same character name.
In Park Chan-Wook I trust.
Excited to see what Park does with his first Hollywood film. If this is anything like the Vengeance trilogy then I’m all in.
I like this clip!Nicole find her talent again,i hope more people will like the movie!
Hemingway & Gellhorn, Paperboy, Stoker, Railway Man, Grace of Monaco… Kidman keeps on juggling between arthouse films and more academic ones, she’s poised for a return to the Oscars, I think she could get 2 noms next year, lead for Grace and supporting for Railway Man, where she plays the supporting wife (+ WWII + Firth).
Of course Stoker is the most interesting film of the bunch, and she looks really strong in this first look.
This looks really well done. That scene in the kitchen in which Mia is with that old woman is pretty beautiful, those yellow colors. Cannot wait to see the decen trailer. I hate ET previews.
Kidman seems in top form here btw.
I hate ET previews.
I’m loathe to post any film clips that get extruded through the EW playdoh fun factory, and almost said so in the intro. In this instance the patronizing voiceover thankfully shut up halfway through so it allowed the scenes to speak for themselves.
Nicole Kidman has always had the talent to creep you out of your skin.
Her emotionally withdrawn and dangerous characters are fascinating and this one looks truly promising.
Mia is one of my favorite young actors.
