There are a number of docs. The one I liked has disappeared. Here’s another one that seems a bit more involved.

ahaha! I didn’t see this yesterday. So cute. Thanks for the smile.
I love Kubrick, but they could’ve used a more diverse selection of clips from his other movies (there isn’t a single clip from “Dr. Strangelove” here!).

That Lux Aterna remix almost ruins what is further evidence of genius visionary. He’d probably hate how popular he’s become, with every film geek worshiping him just because it’s the “cool thing to do” nowadays. But I remember watching the Shining and 2001 when I was a teenager, and just like that, my love affair with film became an obsessive marriage.
Out of all the films I’ve seen so far this year, leaving my mind blown to bits and pieces, by far the biggest blow came from visiting the world premiere of the Kubrick Exhibition in Amsterdam’s Eye Film Museum. From beyond the grave, the old dog still manages to make everyone else look like kids playing in sandboxes while his fortresses continue to shine.
What a guy.
When are people gonna stop with this ridiculous notion that he covered up the moon landing. I mean come the Fu** on! DO you really believe that NASA and the U.S Government would entrust this high a secret to a hollywood film director who was not known for being very predictable?? I mean seriously, people will believe absolutely anything these days.
I absolutely believe Kubrick shot the moon landing footage and The Shining is his coded confession. In fact, there’s a convincing argument to be made that most of his films are a kind of confession: Lolita was his way of dealing with Arthur C. Clarke’s alleged proclivities; Barry Lydon was a meditation on breaking into the elite through crime (moon landing cover up); Eyes Wide Shut exposed the dark elite (illuminati) – and he was like the Tom Cruise character – he saw what they offered and ran out of the room!
I’m not sure if any of this is true, but it’s hard to totally doubt it. And there’s a lot of this theory all over the internet. Only his wife knows for sure.
I absolutely believe Kubrick shot the moon landing footage and The Shining is his coded confession.
Be more specific?
Realistically, I don’t buy into it. But I don’t buy into a lot of conspiracy theories that are great fun to imagine.
Symmetry gives me claustrophobia, which is why it’s so effective on film (for me) conveying tension, anticipation, control or inevitablility.
You won’t find any symmetrical arrangements anywhere in my house. Order – out; chaos rules.
Love the clips, though. He was a puppet master, to be sure.
Too much “The Shining” and definitely the worst choice of background music. I adore Kubrick, but this didn’t touch me at all.
The Coen Brothers had some striking symmetrical shots in Barton Fink’s hotel interiors, some of the bowling scenes in Lebowski, and The Hudsucker Proxy, off the top of my head.
Wes Anderson, agree. That was only evident to me in thr Moonrise Kingdon opening shots at first.
Well, it’s nicely put-together, sure, but if I have to hear that damn Requiem for a Dream score one more fucking time…
Is there any other director who has this kind of symmetric shots on his filmography??
Wes Anderson, quite a lot.
Great video. Shame it’s ruined by using the most overused piece of music in the history of civilization
Mind = blown.
