I am definitely getting a bit nervous for Jenifer Lawrence. Going to be a good race between 2 worthy contenders.

I’m always curious as to what Peter Travers will award 4 stars. He doesn’t hand them out often so it’s always high praise when he does. I’m really curious to see his top 10 of the year.

I can’t wait to see the film.

It’s funny, hindsight is the darnedest thing. When THE HURT LOCKER first hit the scene, my mind as a beginning film critic could not handle the sheer power and vision Kathryn Bigelow’s direction provides. A sense for the drama of real life and an ability to project life’s most difficult situations onto the screen is one of Bigelow’s greatest qualities. Then comes Jessica Chastain who, with Jennifer Lawrence, is one of the greatest female actresses today. She’s an absolute revelation. All of this brings me to ZERO DARK THIRTY. As much as my heart looks forward to the Cirque film and LES MISERABLES, my mind looks forward to ZERO DARK THIRTY. The fact that I must wait a month still before seeing a film that has the chance to be the best reviewed film, not just of the year, but in new release history on Metacritic is killing me. Both Bigelow and Chastain are relatively new to the mainstream, yet their difference in age is over 25 years and their talent level is immeasurable. Oh the wonderful world of the movies and the roads to fame it provides. I anxiously await the day I finally get to witness Bigelow and Chastain’s latest work on screen which hopefully will be another great chapter in both their careers. The day can’t come soon enough.

The ZD30 twitter just tweeted the 100% RT score for the film. Pretty impressive. This is going to be the highest rated film headed into the Oscars. It could very easily walk away with Best Picture and Bigelow Best director since it is a director’s film. Like Jeremy Renner in Hurt Locker I think Jessica Chastain will be nominated but miss out on the win. https://www.twitter.com/ZeroDarkThirty/status/276154210712686595

The whole “rare 4 star review” is the only thing Peter Traver’s got going for him because his reviews read like they’re from a 5th grader clerk.

Though it only has 17 reviews on RT (with that impressive 100% of positive reviews), the average rating is what astonishes me. It’s 9.0. It will lower or upper with time, but the movie with best average rating til now is Argo with 8.4 (all critics) and 9.0 (Top Critics).
So you have an idea of what 9.0 means, The Social Network one of the best reviewed films of the last 10 years, has that rare 9.0 average rating. I don’t know any other movie that has that kind of score. Nor THL (8.4), Sideways (8.5), Borkeback Mountain (8.2), Toy Story (8.8), There Will Be Blood (8.4), No Country for Old Men (8.6), Eternal Sunshine (8.4), TLoTR (8.1/8.4/8.6), The King’s Speech (8.6) or The Artist (8.8) have reached that high and rare number.
    Just so you know it.

Great picture. I’m looking forward to the film. For the clips, Chastain looks as though she gives a fantastic performance.
