Predicting the surprises at the Globes is an attainable dream because surprises there actually do happen. Pick up to three.
1. Christopher Nolan nominated in Director for The Dark Knight Rises
2. Anne Hathaway shows up in lead for the Dark Knight Rises
3. The Dark Knight Rises shows up in screenplay
That’s why they call them no guts, no glory. Your turn.
I know eh, Sasha, I still keep coming back to this blog, it’s sad for me I guess, but good for your traffic. 🙂 What I was gonna add is that if you gonna focus your energy on a blockbuster with fantasy/sci-fi elements, then you are backing the wrong horse this year, and you should have expanded on why The Hunger Games deserve recognition more rather than TDKR. I mean, let’s give it a rest – they didn’t give any glory to Inception which was far superior, why would they give him now?!
And yes, you are not a movie critic, but in terms of reviewing the Oscars, I am sure some part of your job requires a good knowledge of whether movie reviews get it right or wrong, so that you can base your opinion on where the wind is blowing. I know that you have the expertise because I read your review of Beasts of SW, so if you hide behind an aura of “just an awards guru” but that’s really under-emphasizing it. Peace out!
TO ALEX: Hathaway’s Catwoman is the best Catwoman put on screen. Period. Wasn’t much of a challenge for her, considering all the previous Catwomen never did the character justice. Hathaway nailed the role. Chris Nolan, on the other hand, missed the mark with the movie, big time.
SIDE NOTE: Sasha is a girl?! I thought Sasha was a boy, lol! My mistake.
I feel embarassed for you, Sasha! Calling for Hathaway for Lead in TDKR is not only ridiculous, it’s like we were watching different movies… And you review movies for work, for God’s sake! No, it’s not a leading role, and no, it’s not the best Catwoman ever, despite the stylish screen presence. It’s really sad that you let your emotions skew your professional critique in such a way – what is it, a middle-age crisis or something?
I feel embarassed for you, Sasha!
No need to waste your energy that way. Plenty of poor people to feed. Take a walk in the hills. Cook something.
Calling for Hathaway for Lead in TDKR is not only ridiculous, it’s like we were watching different movies…
The studio placed her that category for the Oscars. But think me THAT stupid if it helps you feel better about yourself. After all, that’s the most important thing here.
And you review movies for work, for God’s sake!
No, I really don’t. Not for at least ten years now. I write about the Oscars for work. Writing reviews is merely an elective that I choose to do when I feel so inspired. Not a requirement. But again, don’t let me stop you slathering on the hate.
No, it’s not a leading role,
REALLY?
and no, it’s not the best Catwoman ever,
And I said it was when?
It’s really sad that you let your emotions skew your professional critique in such a way – what is it, a middle-age crisis or something?
Sad? No. Sad is taking out time to write this comment. Sad is taking all of this serious enough to want to insult someone whose blog you happen to frequent. Sad is caring about this beyond what it is. And finally, sad is GIVING A GREASY SHIT ABOUT WHICH CATEGORY A PERSON IS IN. Get it? Good. Now get off my lawn.
Sasha, you must be a huge Batman fan nerd. There is NO way in hell The Dark Knight Rises is getting any kind of nomination in any serious category. The Dark Knight just barely deserved some nominations — came kind of close, but didn’t get anywhere near the number it deserved. The Dark Knight rises is much much worse than TDK, so how in the hell can it get nominations? TDKR was and is a total letdown; it’s a Michael Bay movie shot by Wally Pfister.
