Just the one nomination for The Angel’s Share, in Most Promising Newcomer. That’s disappointing. Script deserves a nod at least.
Must check out Sightseers and Berberian Sound Studio…
^ that would be his father, Roy.
Rory Kinnear?! Veronica Salt’s dad from Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. Where have you been all this time?
Nah The Intouchables probably has the better chance. I still think it might beat Amour to the win.
Good for Maggie Smith, I really like her 🙂
STRINGS!!!! Go Rob Savage, you beautiful muthafucka!!
France’s academy was so stupid to choose The Intouchables and Harvey Weinstein over Rust & Bone for best foreign film! It’s a far better movie and the recent multiple nominations are proving it.
The international list is far better the the main one.
…and when will I live in a time where we can talk freely amongst each other without mentioning The Iron Lady. I was doing well and well on the road to recovery (my eyes and ears had grown back)
TBEMH, while horribly average may get a few nominations. I can see it.
It is, on paper, the biggest Oscar bait film in contention. It ticks all the right boxes. It also shits in half the boxes too.
I’ve been expecting The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel to succeed at the Oscars for weeks. Picture, Actress, Supporting Actress and Adapted Screenplay nominations are well within reach, and it could even earn more.
It’s a better movie than __________, which will be nominated.
Unless you’re referring to Breaking Dawn Part 2, I don’t understand.
Nice to see the recognition for Judi Dench, Maggie Smith and Tom Wilkinson.
I would have liked to have seen Penelope Wilton and Bill Nighy on the BSA lists as well, though. They were so good in The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel.
I know it is a crowded year, but I can really see AMPAS rewarding the actors in this movie with nominations. AMPAS members are generally over 60 – and this is a quality film with quality acting that should result in a few nominations. I think Maggie Smith probasbly has the best chance given her Oscar pedigree (they love her). Tom Wilkinson’s role is also very sympathetic (it helps if you die in a movie to get an Oscar nomination, yes?), so I wouldn’t be surprised if he ends up on the list for BSA.
Best Exotic Marigold Hotel is my stealth pick for a surprise BP nomination. For all the reasons you cite, keifer.
It’s a better movie than __________, which will be nominated. Don’t ask me what title will fill in the blank. I don’t know yet. All I know is there always some blanking silliness that gets in.
Let’s see if Meryl’s good luck continues.
