I’m just surprised that Jennifer Lawrence gets so much love for that role. The movie is awesome, I could even see it win BP this year over the other 3-4 really big names. Also Jennifer knows how to act, she’s been very impressive in other roles. But here? Maybe because it’s comedy, but her acting is so over the top, like a child-actor would do it. It’s way too immature performance to be so glorified, IMO. Well, at least she’s gorgeous, that never hurts.

In 1998 at age 21, Jessica Chastain played Juliet to great critical acclaim in a production of Romeo and Juliet staged by TheatreWorks, a professional theater company in the San Francisco Bay Area.
In 1999 she started her professional training at Juilliard which she completed in 2003, while there she was an active participant in the drama department and starred in several theatrical productions and student film projects.
Then for the next 5 (!) years (2003-2008) she only got one-episode guest spots in TV shows like ER, Veronica Mars, Close to Home, Law & Order: Trial By Jury. By this time she was a 31-year-old Juilliard alumna, a decade had passed since her acting debut and 5 years since her graduation.
Then she made her first feature, Jolene, in which she played the title role, but after a semi-succesful festival run in 2008, it only received a VERY limited US-release two years later in 2010.
And THEN, 13 years after her critically acclaimed Juliet, 8 years after she graduated from Juilliard, at age 34 (!!!) came her big break when she starred to great critical acclaim in 5 (!) well-received films in 2011 : The Tree of Life, The Help, The Debt, Take Shelter, Coriolanus.
If you insist comparing her to Naomi Watts, well her acting debut was in 1986 and her big break in 2001, she was 32 when Mulholland Drive debuted in Cannes, two years younger than Chastain who was 34 when her first 2011-film, The Tree of Life debuted in Cannes. 15 years compared to Chastain’s 13, although it’s worth mentioning that Watts took a 5-year break from acting in the late 80s, she returned for ‘Flirting’.
I don’t see how one should be considered luckier than the other, when the truth is BOTH had to work for a very long time to get the acclaim and status they so richly deserve.
That speech of JC could sell nothing for her.
steandric
Now you are not even making sense. So I guess unless you were ignored by the industry for at least as long as Naomi Watts was, you are automatically starlet, impressive CV and training be damned ?
Jessica Chastain’s Golden Globe winning speech:
“I’ve wanted to be an actor since I was a little girl, and I’ve worked for a really LONG time…..I’ve auditioned and struggled and fought and been on the sidelines for ‘YEARS’ “…..
I just thought she was referring to Naomi Watts, who was in the audience (smiling, with a smirk, I guess).
Chastain’s first on TV series in 2004 and first feature film – Jolene (2008)
Watts’ first on TV series in1990 and first feature film – Flirting (1991)
steandric
And how many ‘starlets’ deliver 7 critically acclaimed performances in critically acclaimed films , three in Best Picture nominees including last year’s Palme d’Or winner, receive back to back OSCAR/BAFTA/SAG/GOLDENGLOBE/CRITICS CHOICE nominations, win Best Supporting Actress awards of the three most prestigious critics groups (NYFCC, LAFCA, NSFC) AND headline their Broadway-debut, ALL THIS IN LESS THAN TWO YEARS?
It is quite simply ridiculous to call her a starlet, her classical training (Juilliard) alone makes her an ACTRESS and NEVER a starlet, but the quantity and most importantly quality of her work just further proves that she is not only an ACTRESS and most certainly NOT its lesser version (=starlet), she is also one of the VERY best actresses we have at the moment.
For anyone that is angry about Jennifer Lawrence speech everyone can be rest assured that (1) Meryl Streep was probably really sick with the flu and; (2)if present would have been smart enough to know that is was off of a movie and not an insult. As for the rest of her acceptance speech I found myself ranking hers as one of the best, even better than her competition Jessica Chastain. In fact, at this years Golden Globes the acceptance speeches were all a little off as well as the mood that was clearly playing throughout the room. This in regards to Taylor Swift, Steven Speilberg and Tommy Lee Jones’s sore looser faces all through the night. Overall it was a very odd night.
What a bore. We’ve seen this all before. Star/director gets “snubbed” by the academy; his film wins best picture at the Academy Awards. This is Hollywood falling for its own yellow brick road fantasies. Zzzzzzzzzzzz.
phantom
Chastain is 35 this year
Chastain first film 2008 (Jolene) – when she was 30
Chastain first TV 2004 – when she was 26
I don’t know what she did before 26
A starlet or not is not decided by her age, but her years in the industry.
Lawrence first TV 2006, first film 2008. Both Chastain and Chastain are therefore starlets and have a lot to learn humbly. Yes,I worship Lawrence of Arabia, one of my top 10 films.
steandric
There were nominees last night who could be easily called starlets…classically trained 35-year old Jessica Chastain is NOT one of them. Take out a little time from your daily Lawrence-worship routine, and go watch Zero Dark Thirty !
I can’t believe people are saying that the Academy did an error. To be honest, I believe that all these five directors deserve their nomination. I definitely love that the Academy took a different direction. I don’t understand why people are complaining. Last year, it was too predictable when the Artist won. But now, this year, people still complaining that the Academy did a mistake and the race is unpredictable.
@david
Unless Riva wins the Bafta (just like when Tilda Swinton won Bafta then won the Oscar.) Then she has a chance of winning. I’m hoping that Chastain win because her performance was stronger than Lawrence. (I saw both SLP and ZD30.) To be honest, it is my favourite awards season. It becomes unpredictable except best actor and supporting actress (unless if Sally Field wins)
rufussondheim is right on the mark. The GGs generally don’t mean anything in the race. In fact, a win is usually not a good thing, but most of this race is still open. The guild “wins” should give us a better idea of what’s going to happen.
My takeaways from last night:
Chastain and DDL will win on Oscar night
Argo continues on winning…
I don’t think Lincoln is the overwhelming fav for the Best Pic Oscar anymore. It’s a weird year.
My Rankings as of now to take home the Best Picture statue on Oscar night:
1. Lincoln
2. Argo
3. Zero Dark Thirty
4. Amour
5. Life of Pi
And so with this win at the GG, we had a starlet Jessica Chastain up on stage making a speech telling people how hard (I thought she meant unfair as well) she had been with this business of hers, LOOOONG time and YEARS and YEARS of audition, rejection, dismissal, hardship……and finally, this “recognition”…..blah, blah, blah……then there was sighing and hands clapping….
She started in 2004 doing TV series, then landed her first film role in “Jolene” in 2008.
I wonder if Naomi Watts was taken to a smirk in her quiet corner away from this whole bunch of hypocrites.
@Lars: I agree 100 % . The man can do searing drama very well. He does what he does best. I still remember the first time I watched Close Encounter ( one of the first Hollywood movies I watched together with Commando). As yourself I am not an american, and as you I love cinema. I haven’t had the plessure of watching Moonrise yet, but I hope to when it reaches our shores. I had hoped Once Upon A Time In Anatolia would’ve made among the nominees for the Oscars and the Golden Globes. It’s waaaay better than Kon-Tiki and most of the nominated films in my opinion.
funny tweets about Catherine Zeta Jones’ singing before introducing Les Mis.
“The first 6 seconds of Catherine Zeta Jones on stage was the most awkward thing that has ever been broadcast.” #goldenglobes
“Hey, where’d my award go?” Anne Hathaway says, looking around. Catherine Zeta-Jones runs through the parking lot, cackling.”
“What was more awkward? Catherine Zeta-Jones introducing Les Mis or Russell Crowe IN Les Mis?”
“What did everyone else do when Catherine Zeta-Jones sang just now? I looked at the couch.”
Expand
BRB, building a barricade to keep Catherine Zeta-Jones from ever returning to Broadway.
Sorry Catherine Zeta, the film was already cast. And shot. no need to audition thx
How could they not have cut to Mandy Patinkin’s reaction to Catherine Zeta-Jones’ “singing”?
Dear Catherine Zeta, this is not the set of chicago. Do not sing.
Catherine Zeta-Jones, did you just try to sing live again? Did the Tony awards teach you NOTHING? NOTHING!?!? #
Catherine Zeta-Jones just tried to retroactively audition for Les Mis and it was hard to watch for all of us.
Does Catherine Zeta Jones know she wasn’t in Les Miz?
Lincoln and SLP losing all the big awards (Picture, Director, Screenplay) is not a good sign for their Oscar chances. This shows Lincoln will not be as strong come Oscar night. BP race is wide open now.
Agreed with phantom on SLP
I thought I was the only one who hated that movie and I just can’t wrap my mind around all the love its been getting. While the acting was strong I felt the story and writing was mediocre. I couldn’t help but think that I have seen this type of movie done countless times. I mean, to me there’s nothing really ‘special’ about it in terms of quality.
To think, Seattle, Les Miz is the #4 film among Awards Daily readers and Sasha is giving it this much disrespect.
i was at work following the show online. looked forward to reading your posts that you wrote while your heads were exploding. the running lines of snark were anticipated toward LES MIZ, but ignoring it? it won the most awards. it could have knocked Adele aside as well if she wasn’t so hot right now. 3 statues on a night when the presumed front runners went home with 1 or 2 is impressive. plus…it just opened to record grosses in the UK and other international sites. it sailed past $230 million worldwide. the soundtrack is #1 on Billboard charts. yes, some critics (and many so-called online film blog experts and comment mavens) treat it as some kind of parasite on the film world, but an equal number of critics sing its praises to the skies. and you know what? most people LOVE the movie. and yes, many hate it as well. but, don’t be so fast to ridicule and rule out a movie that so many people really, truly LOVE. i know that sounds weird to a lot of you, but it’s the case with LES MIZ. the show has stayed with and haunted people for over a quarter of a century. few will be deeply moved by DJANGO, or ARGO or even SILVER LININGS in years to come. most recent acclaimed products enjoy the limelight for a season and fade. but i think you’ll see LES MIZ will have a long shelf life…and a good showing at the Oscars. the funny thing is that i don’t even think it’s a great film–but it is a very good film. i was hoping all along that we’d get Francis Ford Coppola’s LES MIZ or Scorsese’s LES MIZ, but this is what we have. congrats to the producers, Hugh and Anne. and may we get more movie musicals. and with LINCOLN’s success, i look forward to more smart, well-made historical epics.
I just realised it’s probably quite significant that Brave won tonight. Much of its early notices focused on the fact that it was somewhat of a let-down by Pixar’s high standards, but it’s turned out to be one of the most consistently recognised animated films of the year. Winning the Golden Globe must bode at least fairly well for its Oscar chances.
Personally, Jack, I think SLP is equally a dangerous dark horse as Argo when it comes to the Academy. The exciting thing about the GG is the road to the Oscars got even muddier than before. Also, Argo winning best picture at the Oscar would not be unwelcome since I prefer it over Les Mis and SLP. I just wish the Master and PTA were nominated 🙁
@akari,
Chastain will win the Oscar if she wins the SAG. That’s it. If Lawrence wins the SAG, it’s all over. Her film has the majority of support. Last year, Meryl won and everybody was predicting Viola. It was an upset because Viola’s film is a BP nominee yet Meryl prevailed. Sadly, I think it is now over for Watts. It’s hard to win as the sole nominee without a BP nomination and she’s the sole nominee of her film.
Lawrence
Riva
Chastain
Q.
Lars, of course I didn’t mean literally everyone. However, I think you should acknowledge that quite a few posts on here are saying how this Argo momentum from the preliminary awards could very well take the wind out of Lincoln’s sails, but everyone has totally given up on LesMiz which did get a DGA nod, could still win SAG ensemble, and outdid Silver Linings tonight. It’s just that nobody, except me, seems to notice that…
I don’t why I’m thinking like that, but I believe Haneke will win the Best Director, and Riva or Chastain will win best actress. I believe Lawrence is too young to win, and another nomination can bring more opportunity for her career.
Well, Mohammed, your observation of Spielberg is valid, but I think in Lincoln his visual storytelling works really well for me in accordance with his restraint. It was a stirring movie-going experience for me even though I’m not an American who probably would understand the politics better. However, I would definitely rewatch Argo before I consolidate my opinions about the film. After watching Moonrise Kingdom for the second time, I cannot believe how underrated it is. But Wes Anderson’s films are always an acquired taste.
@Christoph, It’s all about the food with you French.
You made some fine films this year, but terrible jokes.
Hat off to Jodie Foster.
Great speech with full of grace, humanity, sensibility, intelligence, sense of humor, beauty and love.
This legendary icon represents an era!
@mattoc
“some of the frontrunners leave a bad taste in my mouth”
you know you just have to watch the movies, not eat them…
wow, that was a sloppy joke, even seth mcfarlane would do better than that!
Damn, Anne Hathaway’s husband is really hot, IMO!
‘gotta say, regardless of what happened today, Argo the ‘after thought’ will take this come Oscar night.
It wouldn’t come anywhere near my top ten, and yet I wouldn’t mind if it won. In fact I would be happy if it won. And why is that? Because some of the frontrunners leave a bad taste in my mouth, and Argo is harmless, well meaning and Hollywood. Like Disney.
Oscar may vote against other films rather than for!?
Don’t know about Director. My brain says Spielberg, my gut says Lee and my heart says Haneke.
Anne Hathaway was stunning tonight. Her speech thanking all of her contemporaries, and that Sally Field tribute? Amazing! I wish Sally would have reacted better, though. She seemed very disinterested lol. “Like yea, whatever bitch.”
Well, its official. “Lincoln” will win the Oscar best picture. Why. Because the GOD of liberal Hollywood Bill Clinton appeared to give the film an assure sounding praise of praises and NOW the Academy will all line up and put their x next to the film. How can they not do so.
@Lars: I guess somebody has to be first then. I’ll admit that one seldomely sees a Spielberg movie where the music doesn’t tell you EXACTLY how to feel. I expect something more from someone of his stature. Check A SEPARATION or SPRING, SUMMER, AUTUMN, WINTER, SPRING for a way one can do it.
I love all three movies of Affleck, but Gone Baby Gone is my favorite. It’s ending is one of the best endings of any american film I’ve seen in the past decade.
Look at SallyinChicago’s comment. It’s very common among some to put down Affleck for his filmmaking as if there are so many distinctive voices out there. Terrence Malick is distinctive. Lars Von Trier is weird in ways that’ll surprise you. Spielberg hasn’t done anything in more than a decade that has raised my eyebrown, let alone moved me.
Is he a good filmmaker ? Yes. But not special. Filmmaking is visual storytelling. It’s about telling a good story with a beginning- a middle- and an end. That’s it.
Les Mis will not win BP and let’s face it. It even reduced its chances in the Golden Globes by letting Zeta-Jones sang a line from “I dream a dream.” lol.
It was a tremendous night for both Argo and Django Unchained. For Affleck to win Best Director amongst those nominees is something else. And Quentin’s scripts will always be in contention for the highest honors and it’s great to see such a bold screenplay take an award like that.
The Oscar race is feeling wide open at this point…
Yes, Reno, SLP is more about the acting and less about the direction. I would’ve substitute Bigelow instead of Russell. Jack, don’t be so dramatic. Not “everyone” is bashing Argo. There’s more people in this forum who bash Anne Hathaway than Argo. Argo is technically accomplished with an exciting and politically-timely story. Affleck is also becoming a very good director. It is certainly better than Les Mis and SLP (for me). But I wasn’t surprised at the Oscar snub because I think the Academy’s choices are refreshing this year. Also, there are a lot of good films this year, so not everyone could be nominated. I think we can all agree on that at least, right?
Momentum from the Globes? For the Oscars? Really???
Who voted for the Oscar nominations? AMPAS members.
Who voted for the Golden Globes? HFPA members.
And who’s going to vote for the Oscar winners? Take a wild guess…
The boosts that Lincoln, Life Of Pi and SLP got from the Oscar nominations greatly outweigh the boosts that Argo and Les Mis got from the Globes.
I love how everyone is bashing Argo and now considering it a Lincoln threat, but no one thinks anything of Les Mis’ three wins beating out Silver Linings…
Count me among the SLP naysayers. Watched it instead of the Globes. Should have been ZD30 but SLP was only screening in 1 theater in the entire city whereas ZD30 was in every Cinemark cineplex. It was a bumpy ride from the start but boy was there a complete breakdown in directing prowess when it came to the climax. I have to commend the acting though as the 4 nominated actors were fine throughout. A role of a lifetime for Bradley Cooper, fits him like a T, akin to Jerry Maguire for Tom Cruise. Jennifer Lawrence deserves to win all comedic actress awards, but maybe not the Oscar.
sometimes is all about perception, HFPA couldn’t be that respected, but the media is loving the ”you academy got it wrong not nominating Affleck” maybe you’ll not care about, but the muggles, the people and the media who doesn’t care about oscar as much are gonna say again ”take that academy!” and are gonna single out the ”he won despite the fact he was snubbed” yeah argo is overrated but people are acting like this was the worst most shocking snub ever and is right the academy doesn’t like to be told what to vote for (the social network anyone?) but what they really hate is when muggles (not oscar lovers) say ‘you look bad’ and the last time that happen they change from 5 to 10 the number of nominees and everytime they look bad to muggles (not us) they try to repair ”their mistake” as soon as possible.
Chastain probably cost herself with that speech, or at least ruined what good will she had. You don’t think Naomi Watts worked her ass off for years in Hollywood hoping to get a part before Tank Girl and eventually Mulholland Drive? And like Riva hasn’t been working for years, if you’re going to go there?
But I see where she’s coming from compared to Jennifer Lawrence, who’s had a very lucky track.
Well, Mohammed, I bet people could recognize it’s a Spielberg film with the composition/framing, music, pacing. It’s insulting to say Spielberg knows how to pick the project that’s all. So you don’t think Affleck can pick a good project? Also, I’ve never been a fan of Argo (personally I think The Town is Affleck’s best film so far in his directing career), so I don’t know who these “people” are that you are talking about (discounting Argo). I’m just expressing how I feel about one movie this year that I think is overpraised. You are welcome to voice your opinions on Lincoln for sure. FYI, my favorite film of the year is probably between Amour and Moonrise Kingdom.
“Yes I agree, I hope Hathaway loses. That would make my night. And next year she’s going to star as a rape victim to secure her oscar…”
Keep hoping!!
You are gonna be one depressed guy on Oscar night! I guess all the critics’ groups who picked Hathaway are idiots too, no?
Thank you Sasha, as well as other readers/viewers, for sharing the links.

I am particularly happy for Ms. Jodie Foster finally to have garnered Cecil B. Demille award for her […] achievement.
As expected and predicted (for the AD GG-prediction contest), Jessica Chastain, who looks amazing this morning [different time zone], Daniel Day Lewis, both seen upon stage giving their heartfelt acceptance speech, are the winners in their respective categories. Jessica Chastain sort of caught me by surprise though, when she shared upon stage that, once, even the talented one herself would find it a trying time each to land a job as actor (actress) given everything I’ve seen so far from her is simply wondrous an effort.
Kudos to JAPAN’s own Yoshiki for the delicious score highlighted during the event.
—
And congrats to JLaw. A bit letdown on my part for not making it in real time before the eye of the laptop screen though.
Is it not wonderful that the same people who would’ve said that the race is over if Lincoln had won, now discount Argo. As every year, no one knows who’s gonna win before it’s announced. Lincoln is not that much of a better movie than Argo.
It’s laughable to say that Spielberg has a distinct voice. He doesn’t. He’s however very good at picking project, or projects picking him. That’s it.
@rufussondheim
now i understand why people hate her… her life’s way too good!
Lol above
Does anyone else think Anne Hathaway’s husband looks like a cross between Ryan Gosling and Scott Caan?
Actually tonight the HFPA resembled the “old” HFPA that was pretty much the joke of the awards season.
Oh, and Les Miz can’t win without that all important GG Director nod.
Anne Hathaway is a fine and well-liked actress. I don’t understand the level of hate directed toward her on this website. Then again I can’t understand the level of hate directed at Les Misérables. I guess when smth or sm1 is adored by some, it automatically generates hate in others. That’s called equilibrium.
The thing that I like most about this year is that one of those crazy things that people say can’t happen will happen.
ZDT can’t win without a SAG nom for Ensemble
Life of Pi can’t win without a SAG nom for Ensemble
Lincoln can’t win without a BAFTA nom for Director
SLP can’t win without a DGA nod
Argo can’t win without a BD nod.
Well right now, if all of these claims are correct, nothing will win Best Pic.
……
Yes I agree, I hope Hathaway loses. That would make my night. And next year she’s going to star as a rape victim to secure her oscar…
Comment
Oh, I remember. Grand Hotel is the only BP winner to only be nominated in one category. The other two were nominated in other categories, but only won BP.
Jodie Foster came out 35 years ago….as a great actress, and came out tonight as just an awesome human.
Sally
JF said “I love you” three times to her mother, and said hopefully one of them will sink in.
Maybe she can say to Mel ” stop drinking and being a c*** three times….
Christophe said:
‘The Academy does what the academy wants. They have so little respect for the HFPA that I highly doubt they will validate its main choices, on the contrary they might think since argo won big tonight and at the ccas, it is enough and they should spread the wealth. backlaash brewing once again.’
My thoughts exactly. I don’t want Lincoln to go into the Oscar race the big Goliath and was only rooting for DDL this time around. This is the Globes….Clooney and Affleck are darlings among HFPA….it has very little to do with what film, actors directors will win among other directors, writers, actors etc…The Oscars are a whole different animal.
I liked Argo, but can we stop pretending that Argo is Reds for Christ’s sake? Now that the GGs and critics have gotten their Argo/Affleck pity party out of their system, its time for the the real auteurs – of Lincoln, Beasts, ZD30, Pi – to go into the home stretch.
Oh and some perspective: Pia Zadora has a GG.
What a strange race and a strange year. It’s excellent.
Our four front runners used to be: Argo, Les Miserables, Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty
Now they are: Argo, Lincoln, Silver Linings Playbook
(Les Mis and ZDT have both dropped because of lack of directing noms, and political problems in the latter’s case; Argo stays in because it seems to have a more general love)
Who knows
Sally. Jodi never officially “came out” years ago. It was suspected but never confirmed until this evening. She did allude to the state of her mother’s coherence when she said that she hoped her mother would know when she was ready to move on to whatever is next that she was loved very much. So chances are that Jodi Foster might very well be going through a very traumatic experience right now. And Jodi Foster is very private. Always has been.
I love Chastain but I could not see her winning. There’s a lot of going on behind her film that could simply turn away the voters just be hearing Zero Dark Thirty. Lawrence will probably win it. But I’m still rooting for RIVA!!!!!!! GO RIVA!
Again, I hope that the attention seeker, Hathaway, loses.. Someone please pull a Juliette Binoche win like againt Lauren Bacall.
“Seriously, people, could Scott Feinberg be onto something with his first write-in Oscar theory (Affleck) ? I know it sounds impossible…but then again, if someone told me a few days ago that he will NOT get a BD Oscar-nod, that would have sounded impossible, too…and this is a STRANGESTRANGE year.”
It was my understanding that this is not even possible. AMPAS allowed write-ins for a year or two in the mid-thirties and then discontinued it, or at least that’s what I thought. So if there are roughly 6000 members in the Academy, and 5500 of them all go nutso for Ben and write-in his name for director while only 500 AMPAS members vote for someone actually on the ballot, only those 500 ballots will be counted for the director category.
I think.
Great Dane – i appreciate your clarity and logic too.
The awards season is always about perception and timing. The timing of when votes are sent, and the perception of what is ‘hot’ and ‘what is not’ are crucial, even to the grand poobahs at the Academy. I don’t want to credit a 6000 strong ‘mindset’ to AMPAS, but an outcome like tonight could go one of two ways. They, AMPAS, comfortable with their choices already will continue to go their own way and honour whomever they liked weeks ago when they originally sent in their ballots; thereby making little or no difference to their choices. They could be un-moved by the HFPA and not compensate Argo or Les Miz, ZeroDark 30, or they could react to ‘perception’ that Tarantino, Les Miz and Argo are hot, and send more votes their way, possibly creating unusual results – i.e Argo or Les Miz Best Picture, Lincoln Director, etc.
Lincoln and Silver Linings are still in the best positions i think for the Oscars. Picture and Director nods, 3 out of 4 acting, and 4 out of 4 acting respectively, and the period piece/classic filmmaking Spielberg aura, along with Weinstein for SLP still bodes well for these two films in the big categories. Pi and Amour are still strong thanks to Pic/Dir and Amour has Actress/Foreign Film as well keeping it alive. They like what they like at AMPAS, as Sasha has written in previous years, for there to be a split predicted, there has to be a clear case mounted as to why one film is loved for its direction but not overall, and visa versa.
As mentioned before, SAG and BAFTA as well as PGA/DGA will shed a little more light on this most disparate year in awards. The word disconnect has been resonant the past 3 years, for different reasons Avatar/Hurt Locker, TKS/Social Network; Artist/Hugo. The shifts in awards cutoffs and dates seems to have created this disconnect, but once others have presented, there has to be some flow on effect for the awards that are still being voted upon. Just how much impact it has, remains to be seen and observed.
Jodie Foster was PERRRRRFECT!!!!
Bless you Jodie <3
Ah well….this race was certainly interesting but I am calling it now, Lincoln wins at the Producers and Directors Guild Awards and takes home the Oscar while Zero Dark Thirty goes away with Best Original Screenplay perhaps
@Kjbacon- thanks so much 🙂 I’m still really overwhelmed it was such a great night and I cried three times I was so happy. My birthday was Thursday and this has been a great 4 days for me, with the bfca and the ggs!
And my four losses tonight don’t even matter because with 3 of them I was still thrilled with the winners!
I’m glad our longstanding core 8 – Argo, Amour, Django, 3Ls, SLP & ZDT – all got something. It feels right that in a year like this, parity would reign – even though Argo and Les Mis deserve a few extra props.
I’ll be thrilled when Beasts gets to join the party.
OK Party Kids…I’m on the East Coast so it’s bed time…I had a good time with you guys…the globes was a great show…lots of interesting choices…the most important thing that we got of tonight is…THE RACE IS NOT OVER – IT’S JUST BEGUN!
Broadway Melody and Mutiny on the Bounty only won BP too. I think those are the only 3.
Well, Argo isn’t winning SAG. That, I am reasonably sure of.
But let’s not forget HARVEY WEINSTEIN is still in it to win it! In every above-the-line category too!
Sally,
I agree about Arkin. Goodman at least had another good performance in the Flight, even a better one than his performance in Argo.
@Lars, I saw Argo, I liked Argo, I didn’t love it — seems I’ve seen that movie before under another name. It was good, not great, and Ben did a good maybe a great job directing…I don’t think Arkin should be nom’d for Best Supporting….no more so than Goodman should have been.
“Argo is the train and Lincoln is Anna Karenina” That is the best line of the evening, Rufus.
So I have been watching the Oscars since before many of you were born. This is one of the best years I can recall, simply because the Director and Picture races are still too tough to call.
Affleck’s surprising snub (followed by his two big wins this week) may work in Argo’s favor. I’d say it is still a very major contender for the Academy’s best picture, especially if Affleck wins DGA, which I think is likely.
I love Lincoln, it’s my favorite of the year (followed by Argo and Anna Karenina), but I just don’t see it happening any more. DDL and Kushner–, yes, director and picture–no.
Aragorn: It has only happens ONCE before that a film won Best Picture and nothing else, I believe. Grand Hotel, right? Correct me, if my numbers are wrong, anyone. 🙂
This race is more open than KSM’s bunghole.
Too soon?
I hope someone pulls a Juliette Binoche win against the attention seeker Hathaway. I want to see her lose so bad. I’m so turned off by her Disney star like attitude.
I want a 4 way tie.
And the Oscar goes too… and there’s a 4 way tie guys…
Amy Adams, Jackie Weaver, Helen Hunt and…. Sally Field. It would be a great moment. We see Hathaway leaving the Oscars and flashing her thing… hahaha.
@Jaos, re Jodie: This was a lifetime achievement award and it deserved a better speech, not something so personal. Was she “coming out”? I don’t know but I expected a gracious speech, and it just sort of went all over the map about privacy. I think she was begging for work part of the time…I mean she hasn’t done much lately has she?
urgh, Argo has officially become my most overrated film of the year…Affleck has turned out to be an impressive director with his third feature, but he still needs to find a distinct voice and develop an emotional pull before he can become a master like Spielberg, Haneke, Bigelow, PTA…can’t wait for his forth feature though…I thought I could not love Fey and Poehler more, I was wrong:)
sorry, forgot to mention that every single presenter/winners acceptance speeches were spot on with lots of humor and enormous comedic timing (right before mentioning Jodie Foster’s Speech! :-/).
See, i will admit i have that same problem that she does, and this important statement that i forgot to mention in my last comment proves it.
nobody’s perfect, and we are all only human, and yes we do often make mistakes.
@ kate is really is a shame when we have to think like that right? you know..come up with silly ass scenarios as to why x,y,z should and should not win, when it should just be based on whos the best. very sad political word we live in.
i could care less who wins best pic. if i had my way perks would of been nominated. but im going to predict lincoln just because all around the acting ensemble was great and it was and actually still is a box office hit.
And these wins probably aren’t even HELPING Argo. What the Academy dislikes sthe most is being told WHAT to vote for, so there’s a limit to have much Argo shit you can throw at them before they become defensive and turn ALL against it.
Who had fun tonight?
Me. Woohoo!!! *jumps up and down*
first of all, i just want to acknowledge that this was hands down the BEST (yes ABSOLUTE BEST!!!) Golden Globe Awards show that i have ever seen, and i have been following these awards shows every single year since the late 1990’s. Tina Fey and Amy Poehler were hands down the BEST AWARDS SHOW HOSTS EVER! Their perfect comedic timing, combined with their short opening monologue set the stage for what was undoubtedly a very laid back show with literally just about every single presenter/winner acceptance speech (the lone exception being Jodie Foster WHO HANDS DOWN GAVE THE BEST SPEECH OF THE ENTIRE EVENING). Yes that even includes Jennifer Lawrence, whose first choice of words when she took the mic “I Beat Meryl!”, although it may not have sounded like she wasn’t kidding when she said that, but how the rest of her speech went, SHE CLEARLY WAS! The reason i say that is that EVERY WORKING ACTOR in Hollywood knows that hands down, Meryl Streep is the GREATEST WORKING ACTRESS OUT THERE! Heck, even Jennifer knew that. of course looking back on her past acceptance speeches/interviews for magazines it appears that she may have some level of difficulty appropriately translating her thoughts into words, which in return would cause people to think “oh she needs to learn humility” or “yes she sometimes comes across not so bright”, but i challenge anyone out there as to who thought she was BEING DISRESPECTFUL TO MERYL STREEP, you have probably lived your whole life without a sense of humor (which makes you the saddest human being on earth). it’s very clear that when she gives acceptance speeches/interviews, her personality definitely comes across as very humble, along with self depricating comments in which she likes to poke fun of herself. if you’re still skeptical, then 1) read her entire interview in Vanity Fair magazine and 2) look up and watch her acceptance speeches from the Critics’ Choice Awards!
However, with that said, i will say that her first three words weren’t the smartest of choices to begin an acceptance speech, but after that, she nailed that speech head on. with that said, did her speech hurt her oscar chances? I’m going to go with No for the most part, but then again, i can’t really say for certain, seeing as i don’t know the academy voters.
I would highly recommend that Jennifer should consider writing out her acceptance speeches in advance and possibly read them to her family and ask for feedback so that she will be able to keep from making those minor blunders that could literally take her actions extremely out of proportion!
however with that said, SHE WAS FANTASTIC.
and consider that she attended the Golden Globes while sick with the flu,
SHE LOOKED AMAZING! HANDS DOWN ONE OF THE BEST DRESSED WOMEN OF THE NIGHT!
again, just my two cents.
g – most pleasant post of the evening.
The Great Dane: I’m talking about the REACTIONS to his wins. Standing ovations? Please. It’s because he wasn’t nominated for the Oscar that everyone’s like omg he deserves these awards so much. Not his actual work as a director. They’re acting like he’s the first person left off of the Best Director list.
This race won’t be interesting if Lincoln does a sweep.
Is it possible that Argo will win only BP, but nothing else?
That would be a first as well, I believe..
I think we still got a muddle at the top. Life of Pi, SLP, and Lincoln all won 1 award, but perhaps Life of Pi needed the most help and perhaps I thought the HFPA would be the one most likely to give Ang Lee’s film a jolt of good news. It didn’t happen, and perhaps Life of Pi is poorer for that.
As with most Hollywood races, it will come down to the guilds. Zero Dark Thirty advocates will perhaps channel their energy into Chastain winning. Where will Argo fans go? Screenplay? Arkin?
I’ve felt it for a few years, but I think wining the top two awards–Picture and Director–are a kiss of death for a film’s Oscar chances. Unless it’s a steamroller year like last, the Globes diminish momentum rather than gather it. It’ll be Lincoln once the guilds announce.
Ryan: It was a FUN night. Mainly to see if Jennifer and Jessica would steal each other’s thunder, but they both gave great speeches.
Just sad that people think the Globes are the end-all of precurser magic science. All the “The Race Is Now Between Les Mis and Argo” posts are just crazy.
All this evening taught us that in the acting categories, the favorites (besides Best Supporting Actor) won – but in the big ones, NONE of the Oscar frontrunners won, so everything is still (if not more) in a blur.
The end result though is fascination: Winners of Best Director, Best Screenwriter, Best Picture D and Best Picture C&M all came from films that are not Oscar nominated for Best Director.
ANYTHING can happen now. I can still see 4 or 5 possible Best Picture winners, depending how many box office headlines Silver Linings and Zero Dark Thirty can make in the next weeks to up their profile. 7 of the 9 Best Picture nominees could end up with more than 100 million in the box office each by Oscar time. It is SO exciting indeed. No one know who will have the heat in a month – and which films will be old news by then.
I haven’t been this excited for an Oscar year EVER!
Checko, it ain’t gonna happen buddy!
ARGO will NOT be winning Best Picture! Hollywood Press were never going to like LINCOLN as much as Americans. The Affleck snub in directing will prove fatal to the film’s chances.
YOU seem to be the only one in denial.
@checko
compared the two reactions and I think it’s all in your head… stop extrapolating your feelings, you’re not Hollywood sir!
Ryan, gotta say that I expected the duo Fey-Poehlher to do a better job than they actually did…
I feel like after tonight the Academy members will think, “Okay, we ate some shit for not nominating Affleck. But now he has the BFCA and Golden Globe for directing and his film won the Golden Globe, so he’s received enough honors for now.” They’re not gonna feel obliged to vote for Argo for BP out of a sense of guilt.
…at least, that’s how I hope the next few weeks go down.
“@Zooey–Lincoln and Les Mis both have as good a chance to win Best Ensemble at SAG as Argo. Lincoln is going to win the Oscar for adapted screenplay and Life of Pi will win score. Argo can win film editing but I’m not certain what else if it wins best picture at the Oscars.”
I completely agree with this!
people who still doubt Argo is SO winning best picture at the oscars are in total denial, just look the reaction of the people at the critics choice awards, just compare the reaction when Les Miserables won & when Affleck and Argo won, the industry right now wants Affleck winning so bad after that infamous snub (I bet baby oscar buffs in the future are gonna see it that way), forget every other movie, this is the 2012 cinderella story of the oscars and I’m telling you as a person who didn’t like Argo.
Best ggs ever, the show was hilarious! Loved Adele, Tina, Amy, Kristen, and Jodie.
I got 10 right and four wrong, I’m so happy Argo won 🙂 and Christoph waltz! And life of pi for score, and Jessica Chastain, and DDL, and I’m so happy SLP lost best picture! What a great night 🙂
A great awards ceremony does justice to a great movie year by distributing the love
(in other words: “Argo,” “Les Miz,” and “Django” get their nice pats on the head before they lose the big ones at the Oscar)
The Great Dane,
good point. It also means that they chose not to award ZDT and Bigelow even when it was considered as one of the frontrunners pre-Oscar nominations.
Argo wins again, Ben Affleck wins again (expected that), Chastain and Lawrence continue to win, Hathaway is a lock, and everybody loves Amour. I hate that Steven Spielberg has made a rare traditional Oscar movie and he’s getting ignored for it.
Argo is a good, solid film. Ben Affleck didn’t deserve to be snubbed for Best Director. But he doesn’t deserve to win all these awards either. I can’t speak for Bigelow until I see ZDT, but the nods for Haneke and Russell this time were extremely generous.
Waltz winning wasn’t surprising, nor was Tarantino, because they felt right in the moment. HFPA loves its stars. (I feel bad for Tim Burton though!) But this is twice now Tarantino has won the script award where there is no separation between original and adapted! Lincoln is so obviously superior! I love Inglourious Basterds and think Tarantino should have won for that, but Django is so inferior! But he can have the Original Screenplay Oscar as long as Tony Kushner wins for Lincoln.
All I know is Lincoln better go the route of The King’s Speech and win where it counts. They had the edgy movie in The Social Network (or my choice, Inception), but they had to go for the Best Actor vehicle-turned-tearjerker in The King’s Speech. Now they have a superbly written and directed biopic about our own greatest President that made a shitload of money; oh, but that’s not cool enough! Now we have to go with the edgy, modern, snarky film!
I do love Christoph Waltz, and I haven’t seen The Master, but Tommy Lee Jones is repeatedly getting ripped off. I still expect him to win the SAG and Oscar a la Morgan Freeman
I guess if Harvey Weinstein (or George Clooney, for that matter) had produced The Social Network and not The King’s Speech, then we might have had a different Best Picture winner.
So is Argo going to win the PGA now too? It wouldn’t be the first movie to win without a Best Director Oscar nomination (Moulin Rouge, Little Miss Sunshine). Thing is, Lincoln has made more money and is the better film!
Also, what was Jodie Foster smoking??
Sam Juliano: Glad I’m not alone in my craziness. 🙂
Anne Hathaway drives me nuts.
A.J.: The Hollywood Pity Party? These final ballots for both BFCA and the Globes were turned in BEFORE the Oscar nominations.
I agree with Daveylow…
Best Picture in Drama, Best Actor in Drama, and Best Actress in Drama..
and funny thing is that so far all we see at the top is Jessica Chastain’s (quite pretty- picture…It seems that Ryan only wanted to have winner ladies’ pictures :)))
The Great Dane speaks some sense there, methinks!
The only win that doesn’t really make sense is Les Mis’ win. We all know that it will win. The Oscar nominations after the globes have turned their votes really made a lot of difference. The perception of everyone on who’s gonna win is not connecting with the oscars just because of Argo’s BD snub in the oscars and same with Bigelow too. If Argo manages to win the SAG, it’s all over. If SLP wins it, it will be the underdog for BP. Remember when Little Miss Sunshine won the PGA and the SAG? It’s the film that started the “little movie that could.” But eventually, they awarded The Departed the BP and BD.
Right now, ARGO has all the momentum. Lincoln was benefited by the Bill Clinton introduction. To be frankly honest, if it wasn’t Clinton that introduced Lincoln, Lincoln’s chances is below the top 3. Clinton’s introduction is like a best picture of the year statement…
I’d still put Lincoln at number 2. If it manages to win the PGA, it will be my solid number one. If Argo manages to win the SAG against the SLP, I’ll put it as my solid number one even with Lincoln winning PGA. SLP is my sold number 3.
Momentumeter: FACTORS
1.) Argo – Affleck, BFCA, GG
2.) Lincoln – BILL CLINTON
3.) Silver Linings Playbook – Solid supporters. they really love it.
4.) Django Unchained – GG wins.
5.) Life of Pi
6.) Les Miserables
7.) Zero Dark Thirty
8.) Beasts of the Southern Wild
9.) Amour
this season is the weirdest…. Those BD nominated directors doesn’t really solidify their film…
To add to those 4 others, Sideways also won BFCA and Golden Globe (albeit in comedy/musical).
Bryce Forestieri: They have gone their own way for almost a DECADE now. 🙂
Who had fun tonight?
This Hollywood pity party for Affleck is getting old, fast. I’m sure at least some of the 5,500+ Academy members sitting at home would agree with me. Get over it. Seriously.
@Zooey–Lincoln and Les Mis both have as good a chance to win Best Ensemble at SAG as Argo. Lincoln is going to win the Oscar for adapted screenplay and Life of Pi will win score. Argo can win film editing but I’m not certain what else if it wins best picture at the Oscars.
Terometer, you can bury team Lincoln next to team Les Mis.
Drew: It HAS happened before. 🙂
If Affleck wins the DGA without an oscar directing nod, I will roll on the floor laughing.
Let’s see. Three GGs for LES MISERABLES.
The night’s Big Winner.
Love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Always a please to stick a pitch fork in the film’s haters, regardless of what this might mean or not mean in the Oscar picture.
Best Film (comedy/musical)
Best Actor: Hugh Jackman
Best Supporting Actress: Anne Hathaway.
Next.
ARGO and LE MIZ: Two movie that cannot and will not win Best Picture at the Oscars. I guess they went their own way this time. Good for them 🙂
lol i thought it was pretty obvious original screenplay was purposefully left off. i mean if youve been posting here a while you tend to realize the personalities of the authors of this site(no offense-just calling it) i just didnt care to comment nor do i really get too emotionally invested on who ends up winning in the end…. but ummm yeah great show nontheless. GG are usually terrible but this one was really good this year!
rufussondheim, I repeat: Since 2004 only TWO Oscar winners for Best Picture have won one of the Globes’s two Best Picture prizes. Which means that even with TWO shots of ‘guessing’ right every year, the Globes only got it right TWICE in eight years. So there. The answer to your question is MOST OF THE TIME.
Fabinho Flapp – betcha you forget it
Jodie Foster is a genius, her speech awesome, an everyone in this nasty world of ours, should have a friend as loyal and tender as she is to Mel Gibson. I’m not saying that because I particulary care for Gibson, but because friendship is a vital form of love, and I find deeply touching the way he spoke about Gibson on stage, also making clear that he helped while ago. The world needs more Jodie Fosters.
I know how pretty much everyone hates Les Mis here but Argo won Best Picture Drama. Les Mis Best Picture Musical. So title of this section is somewhat misleading.
rufussondheim
The Social Network and Brokeback Mountain came to mind, and that’s just from recent years, so there are probably more. The BFCA and HFPA are fun to watch/follow, but their impact isn’t nearly as big as the guilds’s.
Well, SENSE AND SENSIBILITY, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN, BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN, THE SOCIAL NETWORK all won GG and BFCA and lost then on Oscar night.
BUT it’ll get interesting because unlike these ARGO will take the SAG for cast. And if it takes the DGA, watch out.
But what can it win? I usually think that if a film doesn’t have a realistic shot at at least 4 Oscars, it won’t win.
PICTURE
ADAPTED SCREENPLAY
FILM EDITING
SCORE
SOUND MIXING maybe
@jerry
sasha and ryan are always in denial when they campaign vs a contender! if their horses don’t win it means “irrational voting”… how arrogant and despising! only the movies they like are worthy of praise, if you dare like smth they don’t, then you’ve got no taste and knows nothing about movies, typical self-righteous “cinephile”.
Please STOP saying Argo is now the frontrunner, people! There IS no frontrunner! The Globe winners for Best Picture actually DON’T win the Oscar for Best Picture (most of the time).
There is no new frontrunner. Lincoln was always going to appeal more to the Americans, and HFPA are NOT American.
If this week has taught us anything, it’s that there IS no frontrunner at the moment. Great. But Les Mis winning doesn’t take anything away from Silver Linings, and Argo winning doesn’t take anything away from Pi, Lincoln or Zero. The LAST place to look for a Best Picture frontrunner is at the Globes.
Honestly Argo feels like it should be an AMPAS-friendly film. If not for no Affleck, it probably would be my favorite to win. But no Affleck hurts. I don’t think the snub will be enough to propel Argo to a BP win (which incidentally reminds me of 1995 and the last two directing snubs heard round the world, one of whom was Ang Lee). Ah well, little Opie won eventually, and I’d expect the same for Affleck. But not this year. Not for BP.
After all…
Great moments:
Foster´s speech. Touching, full of class. Unforgettable.
And justice for Affleck!
Best Picture (Drama) : Argo
Best Director: Ben Affleck, Argo
Now, I´m going to talk to my pillow…
And, whit cries and whisperers, we say:
Academy, EAT YOUR SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!
ARGO fuck yourself, Academy!
#GoldenGlobe #BenAffleck #Argo #MinniesPie
“Lincoln-fans, do NOT give up, at this stage The King’s Speech was exactly where Lincoln is right now ”
Don’t ever forget that oscar cooler blogger is supporting your film. Not Weinsteins.
Golden Globes are not good predictors of what film wins the Oscar best picture though they do often pick good films.
Sasha and Ryan must be in denial about Tarantino winning… it’s been absent from the list for a few hours now
Argo is the train and Lincoln is Anna Karenina.
How many times has the BFCA Winner and the GG winner not gone on to win Oscar Best Pic? I;m sure someone knows this.
Seriously, people, could Scott Feinberg be onto something with his first write-in Oscar theory (Affleck) ? I know it sounds impossible…but then again, if someone told me a few days ago that he will NOT get a BD Oscar-nod, that would have sounded impossible, too…and this is a STRANGESTRANGE year.
Give it up, ZDTers; your film has been mortally wounded by the controversy surrounding it. Lawrence has this. And it will be as much for her performance in The Hunger Games as it will be for SLP. Chastain’s run ends tonight. Bank it.
Jodie speech is all over the internet at the entertainment sites.
Was I the only one confused by the Jodie speech? Somewhere in that, I read that her mother “may” have Alzheimers? Somewhere in that speech, I heard her talk about privacy and not wanting to come out but then she said she was out years ago. Could it be she’s not getting work like she thinks she should and that’s because of her privacy?
@houstonrufus
how do you know that? so argo has only won with bfca and hfpa who are critics and journalists, NOT Hollywood types! of course argo is popular, but so are the other contenders! only the guilds and bafta can tell us more about the race if they point in the same direction, but all this critics choice and globes business is only for the fun of it, nice little parties that’s all!
The Globes did NOTHING for the Best Picture race. Argo, Silver Linings, Life of Pi or Lincoln can still win. Who wins Best Picture at the Globes mean NOTHING. The Producers Guild and Directors Guild are the ones to watch, but in a year like this, they still won’t be able to tell us who the eventual winner will be. This is probably the most exciting year ever!
If Zero Dark Thirty hits 100 million, it’s not even out of the race! And if Silver Linings does the same, then Zero, Silver, Lincoln, Life of Pi, Les Miz, Django and Argo ALL have made 100 million dollars. HOW CRAZY IS THAT?
The Oscar ratings will be UP UP UP this year – so many hits among the Best Picture candidates.
What hurts Lincoln now is that if it doesn’t win anything before Oscar, will it be considered “old news”? Silver Linings and Zero Dark Thirty’s box office success stories are just about to start now, Argo will have a lot of awards winning buzz, Django has just become Tarantino’s biggest hit, Les Mis is becoming the biggest musical of all time, Life of Pi (maybe also old news) will hit 100 million soon, Amour and Beasts both have Director nominations but are probably too small art artsy.
But ANYTHING can happen. There’s a whole MONTH before ballots have to be turned it. It’s all about who has the heat in a month. Let’s just wait and see… 🙂
Why not, going out on a limb that Zeitlin gets a shock win in script or director
Well, THAT clarifies things! Thanks, GGs!
*erp* back to the pah-ty.
Argo is going to win, even without Affleck nominated. It’s clearly the popular choice among the Hollywood crowd, actors, etc. And it’s about making movies. Movie people help save lives in the movie for crying out loud. Not sure why, but no awards body seems to want to give Lincoln anything but Best Actor. I find it frustrating, but that seems to be the way this is playing out.
The Academy does what the academy wants. They have so little respect for the HFPA that I highly doubt they will validate its main choices, on the contrary they might think since argo won big tonight and at the ccas, it is enough and they should spread the wealth. backlaash brewing once again
There is no giving up Lincoln with me, phantom. Anxiously biting my nails, but I’m with it till the end. 😉
Good night.
bravo to ben affleck on best pic, next oscar!
honestly i don’t care if it wins but i do like him and clooney so good luck to them plus i still haven’t seen any of these films ughhhh
Both at BFCA and GG, Ben Affleck got standing ovation. And I have a feeling that it was not only about his performance as a director but also for his not getting nomination. If all that “sympathy” translated to votes for BP, then Argo could win in the end…
Hopefully Zero Dark Thirty can win Best Actress and Film Editing at the Oscars. But with Harvey Weinstein in the mix, the masterpiece might go home without any hardware. Remember, Weinstein got Meryl Streep an Oscar last year after she lost the SAG. Now that is influence.
Um, kjbacon, of course I made your point. It would be a poor joke otherwise.
Having fun yet kids? It makes a nice change when the race has the twists and turns that this one is taking. Before the net, years like Chariots of Fire, Driving Miss Daisy Shakespeare in Love were fascinating and shocking on the night, as there was none of this forensic examination of it like now. This year will still be surprising on the night of the awards. There have been more than enough years where the race is sewn up weeks before. Rules are made to be broken. How about a tie again in a category, or an Adrien Brody win or a Marisa Tomei win. Create some more folklore, AMPAS – thank you.
Predictions:
SAG and PGA: Lincoln, sealing the deal
DGA: Zero Dark Thirty or Argo, making things weird
I agree with Phantom. It is not over yet. But when nominations were announced we thought it would be a three-way game, but I think after BFCA and GG it is very possible that it is a four way game….If only Ben Affleck got nomination!!! then it would have been over. Yet still it is up in the air..
I’m so glad that “Argo” is now the front runner! I can live with that!
Brian – you just made my point
LOL at those who think because of the globe wins for Argo and Les Mis means Lincoln is out of the race. And SLP for that matter.
The Great Dane
Very true. Argo winning here doesn’t mean much come Oscar time. I have to say though I like the Globes winners far better than the Oscars. For an award show the gets a lot of shit, they’ve picked some very good flicks.
Now I can go back to watching the Australian Open.
Lincoln-fans, do NOT give up, at this stage The King’s Speech was exactly where Lincoln is right now : 12 Oscar nominations basically in the same categories, critics groups basically only went for the male lead and the screenplay, BFCA only awarded its screenplay and once again male lead, the HFPA only recognized the lead…and then BANG, the guilds proved that they are the shit…and they ARE, so let’s wait for their verdict before giving up.
kjbacon, that isn’t even in my top 3 Van Gogh paintings!
Here’s jody’s speech again. http://www.tmz.com/2013/01/13/jodi-foster-golden-globes-video-coming-out-gay/

R.I.P. team Lincoln. You dreamed a dream. 14 noms. no. GG frontrunner. no. Everybody respects but no one loves. The team is haunted by an oscar cooler.
While I don’t think Argo and Les Mis are now the frontrunners or anything, I do think SLP and Lincoln need to show up in the guilds to reaffirm their frontrunner status. SAG to SLP, Lincoln grabs DGA and PGA.
Poooooooooooooor and boooooooooooooooring Lincoln.
ARGO fuck yourself!!!!!!!!!
Kkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@Sally: People said the same thing about Whitaker when he mumbled. Not gonna happen. They don’t pick the best speech giver, or no one would win.
Des Brown: What makes you think it’s between Argo and Les Misérables for Best Picture? How can the fight be between two films where NEITHER have a Best Director nomination.
Les Misérables is not nominated for Best Screenplay, Best Editing, Best Cinematography OR Best Director – which means it hasn’t a chance in HELL to win Best Picture.
Lincoln = Color Purple
lol! people getting worked up on precursor awards again! doesn’t mean s***, the acad proved it to us on thursday! at best guild awards and baftas can take the pulse of hwood but not things that are decided by critics/media, very different from professionals… and I’m a Les Mis supporter myself so I should be ecstatic but i know globes are nothing but a fun little part (I’m glad for the Les Mis BO perf though bc it was disappearing from the charts lately)
I think that’s the best awards ceremony I’ve ever seen after more than 20 years of watching. So much fun. Everyone was happy (except for one frowny face; TLJ was part of the joke) and they spread the wealth. Everyone was beautiful, the jokes were awesome.
A++ Golden Globes 😀
@Nick, I don’t think Lincoln is a shoe-in for BP. In the end, it’s about the film making its money back, not the awards, and Lincoln is a winner, as are the others.
Brian – all the awrds are irrelevant. “And Best Painting – Starry Night!!!!”
I still think Spielberg might walk away with Best Director next month….
Sort of ridiculous how so many people are making declarations of what will / won’t / can / can’t happen at the Oscars based on these results. Y’all saw what happened on Thursday: the Academy isn’t paying attention to the precursors this year.
It’s all still wiiide open in at least six of the eight main categories.
But seriously, this was a great show. Tina and Amy were hilarious, so were Will Ferrel and Kristen Wiig, and Jodie Foster’s speech was very memorable, even if confusing at times.
Yes, Argo could still win the Oscar in this messed-up year, but again: Winning Best Picture at the Globes often means you DON’T win the Oscar.
Best Picture winners at the Globes lately include Avatar, The Social Network, The Aviator, Babel, The Hours, Atonement, Brokeback Mountain and The Descendants. None of them went on to win Best Picture. From 2004 and on only TWO of the Best Picture winners from the Globes won Best Picture at the Oscars (which is MAD since the Globes award TWO best picture winners every year, so you’d think ONE of them would go on to win the Oscar, but I only happened twice since 2004).
At the end of the day: I think Affleck’s Globe wins eases the sense of injustice done to him. “Argo” will still not win Picture at the Oscars.
Also, Argo’s win means another Oscar for George Clooney, and I think we know how much he is loved by his peers…
Argo wins!!! It’s between this and Les Mis for Best Film at the Oscars. Lincoln feels out of the race. The Best Film and Director awards this year will be split. What do I think? Les Mis to win Best Film, of course at the BAFTAs and Oscars.
Daniel Day and Damian Lewis both win tonight. Sir Daniel in the Queen’s Birthday Honours? The British really are coming tonight
Damnit! Just when the BP Drama was presented my VHS recorder went haywire. So, here’s to my recorder: Argo, fuck yourself! 😉
I can’t believe Argo won…D:
And Argo isn’t winning BP unless it gets a guild win. GG don’t mean much.
Hmm…GG has a horrible track record…only 2 movies in the last 10 years to go on to win Best Picture…is this one of them?
The Golden Globes are officially irrelevant …
Argo fuck yourself, Globes.
@The Great Dane. Wow that’s a great catch. It’s going to be interesting going into the Oscars!
Les Mis with 3*
WELL THAT DIDN’T HELP US SOLVE MUCH!! haha
Neither “Lincoln” or “SLP” are moved forward. Instead the non-director movies (“Argo” and “Les Miz”) get boosts. “ZDT” is weakened further. “Life of Pi” doesn’t get a boost. “Django” certainly gets some kind of boost.
Is it still just between Lincoln and SLP? How confusing. Very nicely distributed though.
Wow, I killed the contest. Only thing I got wrong was best supporting actor (I believe there was a mistake, and Waltz wasn’t listed).
I should also say that I didn’t participate in the TV categories.
ARGO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
AFFLECK!!!!!!!!!!!!
Academy, EAT YOUR SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!! #GoldenGlobe #BenAffleck #Argo
Honestly, when the ballots were closed for the Golden Globes, Les Miserables was all over the place with the box office and media. And it is in fact the best musical in the bunch.
However, I don’t think it means SLP was hurt by that, because this movie’s momentum started with the nominations.
If there is any movie that came out as a winner in the Awards as MOTHERFUCKING ARGO!!!
And if Argo wins Oscar, Ben Affleck needs to make his speech and at the end of the speech, he needs to sneak in an “Argo fuck yourself”
After Affleck missed Oscar nod I rooted for Argo at Critic’s Choice just for pure fun but now that it has become the frontrunner I kinda regret.
ARGO!
Still, such a strange (strong) year. Argo, Django and Les Mis with two awards. SLP, Lincoln, Zero Dark Thirty and Life Of Pi with one each.
I like Argo very much but in a year like the one we experienced I don’t know… in my opinion it is not the best picture, no.
Clooney more beloved than Weinstein? Yes. Argo can win best picture and the second oscar to George….
Zero Dark thirty should have won.
Argo is one of the best films of 2012 to me. It was very well deserved.
Nice hanging with you guys. Good Night!
What’s funny is that had Ben Affleck gotten in for Argo, I don’t think he would have actually won. He would have come really close, probably, but I think the Oscar is Spielberg’s.
Yet there’s such an immense sense of injustice that seems to be going around about it, that I could see the Academy giving him the Oscar on the next go-around, regardless of his next film’s quality (though I’m sure it will be good), as one of the Academy’s infamous, belated make-goods.
So he’s essentially gone from a surefire runner-up when the nomination seemed like a sure-thing, to a damn near surefire winner upon being snubbed.
Argo? I expected it to win, but I was hoping it would have gone to any of the others. Least favorite of the 5. Maybe least memorable is more like it.
Might as well throw this night away in the wastebasket. Means nothing.
Well, what are the chances that Argo wins? I think slim because the GG never predict the Oscar winner.
I love when Amy Poehler said “we are going home with Jodie Foster” :))) Wish we could have seen more of those two funny ladies….
Wonderfully written show, fucked up by the director: just like the Seahawks
Yea I’m really starting to think Argo will win Best Picture even without a Best Director nomination…there is a lot of momentum for the film, coupled with the feeling that Affleck was robbed of a nomination – it is not completely out of the realm of possibility.
Thanks HPFA for giving us a surprising and entertaining award ceremony.
Now I really want Argo to win the whole thing.
It’s looking better and better every day.
Argo is not dead people… don’t count it out yet.
Summary
Les Miserables : 3
Django Unchained : 2
Argo : 2
Lincoln : 1
Zero Dark Thirty : 1
Life of Pi : 1
Skyfall : 1
Silver Lining Playbook : 1
Amour : 1
Brave : 1
SAG and BAFTA is next! Who will win?
This year: The Globes > The Oscars.
It’s official. The winners of Best Picture Drama, Best Picture Comedy/Musical, Best Director and Best Screenplay all come from films that DON’T have Oscar nominations for Best Director.
poor phoenix, he’d be such a lovely winner, i know people think he’s a sour-puss but when he smiles and laughs it really lightens up his face and you get to see for a second the person within
Yesssssss. Take a look, Oscars.
EDIT: I mean at the Oscar?
OMG…I am on fire….George Clooney and Ben Afflect together…..parade of Sexiest Man Alive:)))
Looks like we have a race for real this year.
RIP Argo Oscar chances
Ben’s gonna faint soon. He’s so shocked.
And the trolling is complete!
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
So Argo might win at the Golden Globes???
Argo wins!
Golden Globes: “They see me trollin’, they hatin’…”
Good for them – solid movie
Yesssss……Argoooooooooooooooo
Give it to Pi – everyone has something
Les Miz beats out SLP?
Are you fucking kidding me?
What a load of shit …
No ZD30
Julia’s Golden Globes:))))
Naomi Watts really needed this…Her case is worse than Riva..At least the latter was not nominated so she didnt love it. But Watts lost this one, and doesnt look good for her.. May be her peers will help her with SAG…One last chance.
BTW, whatever happens for Picture, this is a VERY nicely distributed awards group!!
DJANGO
ARGO
LES MISERABLES
and for acting…
SILVER LININGS
ZERO DARK THIRTY
LINCOLN
Such a great movie year.
Sally – they aren’t in the business of speech giving.
I do NOT think it’s down to Chastain and Lawrence…IF Naomi Watts fails to win SAG in spite of great support from her peers AND Emmanuelle Riva loses BAFTA to one of the American girls, now THEN it will be down to Chastain and Lawrence, but let’s not pretend the Critics Choice or the Golden Globe is even remotely as strong of an Oscar-predictor than the SAG and BAFTA, both have A LOT of Oscar voters as members, the BFCA and HFPA have none.
@Aragorn you are absolutely right that Riva is a strong possibility to be the winner come Oscar night. She and the film managed to garner nominations without checking any of the usual boxes a film/person normally does on their way to an Oscar nomination and eventual win.
Usually the Best Actress race is between young and old (Bullock and Streep, Portman and Bening), but this fight between two young babes have rarely happened. Both will have chances later and they don’t owe any of them. Chastain is arguably the more talented one, but Lawrence has TWO hits this year. Who the HELL will win?
happy chastain won, at least i can say she’s been very good in all her films so far!
All the actors on Camera — Tommy Lee Jones & Phoenix with their angry looks and just not enjoying themselves — they won’t win and Oscar. The people who vote the Oscars are going to see this show and not even think about them as winners.
*it
Just you, Sally.
That ‘piss off’ music went really well while he was thanking Spielberg.
I think he might have another golden globe right there.
Zero Dark Thirty will win Best Picture!
Okay, what the hell gives with DDL? He’s almost as caught in the headlights here as he was at Critics Choice.
More commercial breaks than awards!
Two lovely speeches in a row!
You do not play Daniel Day-Lewis off. He knows if, and you ought to know it too, HFPA!
I don’t think you are allowed to play off DDL
Thanks @ Free!
Is it me? Does DDL come off as a stuffed shirt? And a poor speech giver?
So excited if DDL’s win will be Lincoln’s only award.
Lincoln finally wins something
Now I really want Jessica Chanstain to win this year. Just remembering all the incredible performances of last year more her Lawless performances is enough to fill a montage for her amazing career.
And that was a very good speech, that Sasha surely loved, and I liked a lot.
DDL, whew!!!
P.S. Sasha forgot to put up “Django” for winning screenplay.
DDL cannot be denied. Joaquin still looked pissed though.
Ok ,they final got 2 right.
Of course, DDL…..and he gave a great speech…by the way no acting award got standing ovation..
Daniel Day Lewis and Anne Hathaway are the only sure thing at the Oscar.
Now I can go to bed. YEAH, DANIEL!!!!!!!
Wasn’t expecting Les Mis to win the Comedy/Musical award. In the UK the reviews have been superlative and everyone raves about the movie. Can it go on to win the Oscar without a directing or screenplay nomination? Go Sir Cameron Mackintosh! The British are coming!! It’s the biggest winner of the night.
The race for Best Actress is tighter than EVER!
I prefer Chastain’s speech, performance, personality over Lawrence’s, plus 0Dark30 needs at least one big win.
I am rooting for Phoenix but Day Lewis will win
No, no, Riva’s still in with a shot. In fact, even my Naomi is.
Jessica Chastain does give lovely speeches. Says the right things.
Alfredo,
remind you that Riva was not nominated here…this could be the end of Watts’ chances though…
Don’t worry, people, the HFPA might dare to ignore Abraham Lincoln, but they will not dare to ignore Daniel Day-Lewis ! Lincoln will NOT go home emptyhanded !
They finally got one right.
This might be the only awards Zero Dark Thirty receives tonight.
That was a smart speech….Her win could be ZDT’s award at the end.
@Rama: DJANGO.
Chastain has to NAIL her speech now to get ahead of Lawrence.
So the battle is official…Chastain vs. Lawrence for the Oscar…
It’s still between Jessica Chastain VS Jennifer Lawrence at the Oscars.
Could anyone please tell me who won The Best Screenplay?
Yeah Chastain!!!!!! 😀
and Jessica Chastain…we have a competition…..
EMBARRASING for Hathaway to finish her speech like that, even worse than Garner’s P.S. You had your chance, Hathaway!
This doesn’t take anything away from Silver Lining, Best Picture almost NEVER matches with Globe and Oscar.
If Zero Dark Thirty wins Best Drama (which it won’t), it would be hilarious! Then the two best picure winners AND the screenwriter winner AND the Best Director winner come from 4 films that are NOT Oscar nominated for Best Director at the Oscars.
Shit! No SLP. Damn you, HFPA!
Of course, GG is a sucker for star-studded musical.
@Sally Thanks. Yeah it just seemed like she was upset about the idea that people thought she should come out to the world. But then the sound went out. So I wasn’t sure what happened. But it did seem like her mom was not well from what she said.
Hopefully Argo wins Best drama picture just to complete this trolling
Winner of the most Golden Globes in 2013 – ‘Les Miserables’. The ads with this on it will help its box office.
The way things are going, I don’t know if DDL will get this one.
First during nomination announcements, then during BFCA, and now during Golden Globes, almost every other commercial is about SLP, at least in NYC
Who won The Best Original Screenplay?
Now the real excitement starts… Final three awards (oh well, two plus+DDL’s award!)
Les Miz wins Best Musical/Comedy…doesn’t mean anything in terms of Oscar. As I’ve said…this is the same group that gave EVITA the award over FARGO.
Anne Hathaway is a little nutty right there.
Dude at the start of the Les Mis acceptance speech is funny.
LES MIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
It’s official: GG loves its musicals. And we’re seeing another turn on this career to Oscars. What an entertaining year! 😀
@Antoinette, re Jodie: I tuned out and tuned back in. It needs dissecting, but she was mainly speaking to her close friends. She’s very private and she’s “out” and she was basically saying, if I pick up rightly, that she hasn’t worked much because she is private and doesn’t do a lot of PR and events, and I believe she hinted that her mom has Alzheimers.
Anybody else get that?
YES!!!!!!!! No Silver Linings Playbook. Thank you!!!!
Antoinette, I hear you. Fucking hell that man is fiiiine.
I’m just gonna say it: Jackman’s acting was great but his singing was SO strained. His version of “Bring Him Home” is the worst version I’ve ever heard. I don’t care how many people disagree with me, but I actually preferred Crowe’s underwhelming singing in the film – at least it wasn’t cringe inducing. Jackman had to strain to reach those notes and it sounded like hell. Only his lower notes worked (really well), but those high ones. Kill my ears already!
OMG….Les Miz! Golden Globes didnt help at all…Still everything is up in the air….
OMG Renner looks soooooooooooooo good. *swoons*
Given the love for non-American actors whenever possible so far, I wouldnt be surprised if Naomi Watts or even Marion Cotillard wins Best Actress in Drama
Uh..thank god it’s not bradley cooper. that performance was so plain and nothing out of the ordinary.
IM BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!
oh please. you can watch the first 15 mins of les miz and see that jackman was amazing. cooper couldnt hold a fucking candle to his performance. very much deserved.
Hugh Jackman deserved this, one of the most versatile actors in the biz, it was about time he got some recognition. He is a Tony/Emmy Award winning action superstar and acclaimed romantic lead who worked with visionaries like Darren Aronofsky, Baz Luhrmann, Christopher Nolan…it doesn’t get any more versatile than that.
Having said that, Daniel Day-Lewis is still unbeatable but I don’t mind Jackman taking the distant runner-up position, he deserves at least that.
Tufas: That’s weird. I’m in Denmark, and both of them work FINE here. The tokobakso.com link has the best picture quality though. And sound is completely in sync.
Also, good on you Affleck! Well deserved.
I watch this stream myself. =)
http://ufreetv.com/nbc.html
I think Hugh Jackman is a good actor, I do not understand the awards love for him though, maybe it was just me, but I didn’t think his performance in Les Miserables was that special, not nearly as well done as Bradley Cooper in Silver Linings Playbook
congrats ben affleck! see all is not lost!!!
Thanks guys for all the links, but – maybe because I am in Portugal – none of them are working
Trying to find a good website for some live blogging..!
T.
I know people here are pretty crazy for Day-Lewis, but Jackman gets my vote. And I hated Les Mis.
These people are full of the flu. What a cootie bunch. 🙂
Wooow. Jackman!!! Can Les Miserables change the way people perceives SLP in Oscar competition, if it wins BP tonight?
Anybody but Bradley Cooper is fine by me!
Hugh Jackman…still anything is possible…SLP or Les Miz???
Incredible speech by Jodie Foster? Yeah, incredibly lame and boring. Her non stop blabbering killed the momentum of the show. And her kids look creepy as fuck.
A bipolar FOOTBALL PLAYER ? Damn, didn’t Bale watch the damn film ?
Stupid HFPA think they’ll have another chance to award Kathryn Bigelow?
I’d say they might.
Has Christian Bale chosen an accent yet?
Congrats, Ben. You just did a great job at directing one of last year’s best films. But the Oscar members just did a bad job at choosing last year’s best directors.
Affleck really deserves. Loved it.
I forgot the link 😛
http://livetvcafe.net/video/8XBK9SMHGS9U/NBC
Everybody loves Lincoln the movie but awards the actor only….what has Spielberg NOT done to win awards? Ben Affleck was a surprise. It’s inspiring.
This link is working PERFECT: http://www.tokobakso.com/cerita/70th-golden-globes-award-live-streaming.html
And yes, if the Academy ALLOWED write-in winners, Affleck COULD be one of the likeliest winners ever.
This is working for me 🙂
By the way, I feel so happy and sad at the same time about Affleck. He totally deserved the BD nomination, and now results that he’s winning in all the circuit before Oscar. This is ridiculously sad.
All this Affleck-hoola-hoo baffles me. What’s so remarkable about his direction on Argo? He got together a good crew, good cast, good script and transformed it into a by-the-numbers-movie. All this praise and snub-talk goes seriously overboard.
Lots of surprises. Will Naomi be the next?
Stupid HFPA think they’ll have another chance to award Kathryn Bigelow?
My link still works, T
http://livetvcafe.net/video/8XBK9SMHGS9U/NBC
Quote of the night by Ben Affleck: “Paul Thomas Anderson, who I think is Orson Welles”. High praise and very true. Thats why award shows suck, Joaquin is right!
These awards mean nothing.
I’m with the other commenters hailing Jodie speech, it needs a transcript – so much in it!
Re Affleck – wow – what a mix of prizes Pi, Silver Lin, Les Miz, Django, Argo, still possibilities for Zerod30 and Lincoln. A spread indeed.
Great speech by Foster.
So sad this there isnt a working live streaming link this year. A google search delivers only bogus ad heavy sites and the links you guys posted are dead 🙁
Hurray Ben Affleck! This year everything’s off
T.
Girls winning. The Globes always had a thing for new shows that never won at the Emmys. Nip/Tuck, Desperate Housewives and tons of other shows won for their first season just because they were “the new thing”. And Emmy never followed…
Anyone remember that time lincoln was the frontrunner?
Two things…incredible speech by Jodie Foster.
BEN FUCKING AFFLECK!!! So now I’m thinking Argo might win Best Picture even without the Best Director nomination. There seems to be a lot of support for the film and Affleck from Hollywood.
This is weirdly uncomfortable between Leno and Fallon.
I think my Ben congratulations disappeared. Anyway, Congrats, Ben. Oscars a dumb. 😀
It could only get more exciting and fun if Ben Affleck won DGA
OK, people, I don’t know anything about those things, but it’s time for someone who DOES and agrees, to start some kind of campaign or write-in votes or something to get Affleck and Bigelow in that Oscar BD lineup !
Feinberg suggests Affleck could be first write-in winner at the Oscars. No problem from me.
Yay, Ben! Fuck you, Oscars! You should be ashamed of yourselves.
And Best Director goes to…Ben Affleck ! EXCELLENT !
I had the TV on mute, but I saw people bawling. What happened? From the looks on people’s faces, it looked like Jodie told everyone she was dying.
I missed a piece because it got bleeped. Did she say she was out but she’s not telling us because it’s none of our business? That’s kinda what I got out of it. Anyway, that was hard for her looked like. I’ll need to see it again.
Official : Jodie Foster is AWESOME.
Jodie Foster is so intelligent. Wow what a speech!
I think NBC just turned off the voice for a few seconds just in case she came out:))))
What a superior speech by Foster. This will forever be looked upon as one of the greatest and most honest award speeches of all time.
That started out manic, and ended up rly moving! Go Jodie!
Okay, now I see why she’s talking like that — her mom. And she’s wanted to quit the business and been talked out of it by Mel Gibson. But she’s going on too long….her speech has to be dissected.
Wrap it up Jodi
Terrible. Crafted yet masquerading as spontaneous
Jodie Foster’s voice is enchanting! 😀
Oh wow. She went in a completely different direction there. And they blanked part of it so I got all confused.
Is she drunk or what? I think she says some smart things but also trying too hard to be funny….
I love Pixar and consider myself a fan, but Brave can’t/shouldn’t win this year. Even this was a weak year, I think that Wreck-it Ralph is by not little the best movie of the nominated ones. Paranorman could be a close second place.
Jodie Foster — maybe this is why she doesn’t win at awards…this is supposed to be an award and she can’t do a decent speech?
Never seen so many people look this unimpressed as they applaud the lifetime achievement winner.
@smoothcriminal: LOL. I can never tell if she’s supposed to be attractive or not.
I really like how the globes dont wait until a person is almost turned into an almost living dead like Blanchett’s character in Benjamin Button to give an honorary award
Smooth – you sort of pegged it
@smoothcriminal: You have just described my feelings on Jack Nicholson. “This performance is either kinda brilliant…or some special form of terrible!”
Oh I think Jodie’s drunked. lol
I can never tell if Jodi Foster is a good actress or a terrible actress…
Is Jody’s partner there?
Something tells me that ZD30 won’t be winning jack at the Oscars….I haven’t seen the flick yet, but damn it I kinda want it to win.
Tina.
Amy.
Glenn.
Fuck the awards, let’s just watch those three for the rest of the night.
Jodie is my best dressed chick tonight and her eye makeup is flawless. Jamie Foxx is my best dressed dude. Don’t know about his makeup.
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are HILARIOUS! Best Hosts…they need to host the Oscars next year
Glenn Close was GENIOUS! I love it when the actors are GAME at these award shows.
Glenn Close is a goddess!
Wonder if Fey’s comment about Downey Jr. was a dig at his recent roles?
If so, she is the kind of true friend that we all should have for our “bad” times….
They must be a good bunch of friends. I remember Gibson was the only person who would hire RDJ in his difficult times.
Glenn Close’s drunk was so weird. XD
Ok. Glenn Close deserves a special award for that performance:)
Glenn Close. LMAO!
I like the icons we have in the picture frame on the site now… but I look at them and I feel like J Phoenix in The Master during the therapist scene…
Gibson is a pig. Fact.
Except for Chastain, I think ZD30 is locked out of the win for BP.
I agree with the King of Gondor.
lololol Me too.
Robert Downey Jr. will present Jodie Foster her award. So I assume Jodie invited Mel Gibson as her “friend” to that table….If so, she is the kind of true friend that we all should have for our “bad” times….
Fuck you, Tattooed Lena; you don’t have a tenth of the talent of a Lauren Graham or Kristen Bell.
Dang Driver looks way different tonight.
Its a shame if Zero Dark Thirty walks home empty handed. I guess three senators can totally destroy your awards season. Don’t they have other things to be concerned about?
GO DJANGO!!!!
WTF? Brave? Now that’s a travesty! Have they even watched the anim. films? Frankenweenie is in its own league altogether… nothing to do with the other dumbed down titles.
Is Lena’s dress slipping off or is that the design of it??
Damn, Clooney moves fast huh
GIIIIIIRRRLSSS!!!!!!
I agree with the King of Gondor.
I wish Fey and Poehler both could win. oh well.
Go Julie or Lena!!!!!!!!!!1
That Aziz Ansari guy is just ANNOYING…not funny at all…
Animated Film: yet another field that’s pretty wide open. Please, Oscar, though. No win for BRAVE. Literally anything else is fine. But no Brave.
Can’t wait to see the Jodie film montage!
I wouldn’t mind Lincoln going home empty-handed. I like the underdog role going into Oscars…..
These are the Globes, The Ass-Kisser Awards…press people giving awards, not actors, directors etc….
I hope Django doesn’t walk away with Best Picture….that would kinda suck…..I THINK I’d rather see Lincoln win
I loved Sacha Baron Cohen, but wasn’t sure if he was channeling Ricky Gervais or sending up Jeremy Irons. Either way, very funny.
Sacha Baron Cohen rules
Well, that’s uncomfortable for Ms. Chapman.
The upskirt comment was a bit too much…..D:
Gibson should win the DeMille Award – that would be fitting.
Anne had no idea how to react to that!
Poor Sacha Baron Cohen, though. He’s losing it pretty rapidly…
Now about that “borrowed from Spaghetti western” b.s….no QT you borrowed from N**ger Charlie trilogies by Fred Williamson.
He’s mentioned those movies many times in the press he’s done for DJANGO.
I hope DJANGO UNCHAINED continues to do well this evening. Even if QT can’t win director at the Oscars he can still win Best Picture. 🙂
Adam,
are you new to this site? By now it is very clear that Sasha has two favorite movies this year (three if you count BOTSW)…So any other movie winning Best Picture will be”repulsive and disgusting”….She may like those movies as long as they dont win BP…
I missed something
More Tina and Amy please. I just noticed how dated and retro that set is, it reminds me of Globe telecasts in the 70’s and 80’s – Pia Zadora winning. Flashbacks! Tina Fey was right, she doesn’t have much say in this show. Globes can’t seem to escape their trashy, nerdy image. But it is meant to be a fun night. In a year like this one, with such twists and turns in the awards race, the Globes are just as haphazard. They don’t help to clarify the Oscar race much. But then 100 journalists v 6000 academy members will always be chalk and cheese!
Ryan – ah-ha – thanks.
KJBacon: You’ll see soon enough. 🙂 She’ll get the most focus and screen time of the entire evening (except for maybe the time consuming Kristen Wiig and Will Ferrell).
one globe 10 commercials… is it me or is it getting every year more commercials interrupted by the show… a few times.
Ryan,
Yes. I think Mel Gibson may present her the award. So thats the only reasons I could think of why he is right there at that table!
Wait, did Tarantino seriously win Screenplay?? Why isn’t it listed here on the site?? Could it be???? Huge huge fan. Tarantino’s most important (if not his best) movie.
I know this is mostly about the film winners, but Claire Danes is 4-for-4 at the Globes. That’s kind of amazing.
So I wonder if they decided to give Golden Globe to only one CIA agent obsessed with terrorists, or will they give it to the second one too?
GreatDane – why is SHE at a front table?
Jodie Foster is getting the Cecil B DeMille Award tonight
In fact, it makes sense as Arnold is from Austria….but Sly????
Between those two so called big butch guys, how much botox do they have on their faces? Esp. Stallone looks horrible…
Sly and Schwarzenegger presenting an award to Haneke is something I never thought I’d ever see.
But remember people, winning Best Picture often means you DON’T win the Oscar.
WHAT, Stallone and Schwarzenegger presenting Best Foreign Language Film ? That’s even worse than the BFCA-couple…
Amour…yeahhhh
Can Stallone get anymore botoxed?
Amour, great. wow
Original Screenplay is wide open at the Oscars (no surprise there). Tarantino may have both the BFCA and the Globe, but he definitely can’t get the WGA. Zero Dark Thirty, Django Unchained, Moonrise Kingdom, all bereft of Director nominations, thus less formidable than previously expected, and Moonrise also missing Picture, of course.
Many are predicting an Amour-win, a la The Pianist.
I don’t get you, Sasha. When you first saw Django, I recall you saying that you “loved it”. Now on Twitter, when someone says it will be awesome if it win Best Picture, you respond with “it would be repulsive and disgusting”.
??
Daniel Day Lewis will still win.
A lot of panic stations being activated here. SAG and BAFTA outcomes will be more helpful for predicting Oscar outcome.
You know, I saw Django and I will say this about it. Very daring, very bold to delve into the subject. It hasn’t been visited in some time, and I think that’s what the GG and others see in Django.
Now about that “borrowed from Spaghetti western” b.s….no QT you borrowed from N**ger Charlie trilogies by Fred Williamson.
Hell Fuck Yeah Don Cheadle!
They are one; the awards and the Dark Lord Harvey Weinstein.
So does this mean that QT will win Best Screenplay at the Oscars?
KJBacon: Gibson and Foster are best friends.
Lincoln better not win!
Okay, game over. QT wins Screenplay.
Jennifer Lawrence wins! Any doubts I think not.
Why is Mel Gibson seated at a front table?
Man I’m hungry….D:
ok. harvey owns hollywood.
Wow! I’m stunned. Will this be Lincoln – Cold Mountain Part II?
DAMN, when did QT turn into Jaws from James Bond? They are the spitting image of each other!
Lincoln going home with NO globes?! very probable…
Fuck no. DDL can’t lose… can he?!?
Is Tarantino winning Director? They clearly loved Django
Someone forget to tell Irons that Lincoln has already been cast.
In person, He is weird as always..Did anyone follow what he said?
and he is a horrible actor as documented in Django Unchained.
“And the Oscar goes to…Harvey Weinstein.”
It is all over, folks.
YES! Critics Choice & Globe for DJANGO! Next stop, Oscar! So deserved.
Tarantino????????????????????????????????????
Then make your own shows Paddy
Ooooohh!!!!
Oh wow DJANGO!!
Lincoln going home with NO globes?! very probable…
Hit one of my NGNG! Too bad I didn’t predict it for real anywhere.
@ The Great Dane
Yeah, right, Leo does comedy and they’ll still overlook him and everyone will say, ” he should do TV!”
Woooow, I wasn’t expecting that. Awesome surprise.
Something about Hathaway not believing it’s happening is a bit off. It’s not like she just stepped from Princess Diaries into Les Misérables. She’s been in the big league for years and worked with a BIG line of A-list stars, won the most critics awards in the year of Rachel Getting Married. And she won three days ago and have won so many critics awards for Les Misérables so far.
It’s okay to be humble, but it was a bit overdone.
WOW, Quentin!!
Then make your own shows Paddy
Best screenplay DJANGO! Perfect choice!
IF Silver Linings Playbook OR Django Unchained takes Screenplay…oh, wait a second, Tarantino just got it ! Official : Harvey OWNS the HFPA.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Wawwwww….They really didnt like ZDT!
Zero Dark Thirty is taking Best Original Screenplay!!!!!!!
Performance wise, TLJ, PSH or Christoph Waltz are all good for me.
Anne was charming, especially the Sally bit.
She’s working her complexion with her fashion design. very smart.
Give it up “Smith” You will stand alone on that.
That was a TREMENDOUS speech.
The OZ movie stars the least charismatic actor alive. I needed someone with some effervescence: Jim Carrey, Hugh Jackman – I would have cast Paul Giamatti.
Some reaction from winner and loser)

*Deborra-Lee Furness
Anne Hathaway is so winning the Oscar. That was a great speech, and the people clearly loves her.
I don’t think i can safely predict any categories at this year’s oscars, but I have been saying for weeks, and now i am sure, Anne Hathaway gets that Oscar. That was an exquisite speech. How elegant, gracious and magical is she?
Classy incorporation of her fellow nominees and the best tribute to Sally Field. Oh Anne is getting that Oscar for SURE!
Hathaway’s win was deserved but her ridiculous Taylor Swift-like “shock” at winning was eye-roll inducing. Her speech was equally bad and I hope she improves when she wins SAG and the Oscar.
Great speech, Anne. But unnecessary. She could have just gone up there and farted and they’d still give her the Oscar.
Oh wow. Did you see Debra Lee completely looking in the opposite direction? Maybe that was unintentional. lolololol
No more perfect record of three for three, Sally Field!
I thought Waltz just won for Best Supporting Actor
bah humbug anne hathaway
OK, Hathaway, you had me at your classy Sally Field-tribute.
That was one hell of a speech. And that shut out to Sally Field closed the deal…She is sooooo winning Oscar.
Anne Hathaway will win the Oscar!
LOL did Nicole just got the biggest clap?
Hathaway… now this one is the opposite of JLaw, she tries too hard.
Man Sally Field looks pretty good!!!!
CHRISTMAS CAKE!!!!!!
Aragorn, Christophe or Hoffman is winning. Tommy Jones is NOT winning….trust me.
Anne Hathaway! She now has two major awards under her belt this season…it’s looking good for her to win the Oscar.
Best supporting actress is now cemented…But supporting actor is still up in the air…
Okay, game over. Anne is winning the BSA. Remember — Jennifer Hudson & Catherine ZJ – the Academy loves those strong musical singers.
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Anne HATHAWAY! Yes!
@thegreatdane
i was gonna say that too..LEO needs to do a comedy!!!or maybe a holocaust movie?lol!!!
Again as expectedly Anne Hathaway…deservedly so…
Amy Adams must take it!!!!
BIG MIRACLE REUNION – Krazinski and a positively glowing Kristen Bell. Shimmering, she is. 🙂
I can’t see Leo doing a comedy any time soon….
It’s a DISGRACE to TV actors that they keep on naming previous MOVIE STARS that have won in TV categories.
Brett- I’m pretty sure his serious face was part of the joke.
The Will and Kristen Show dragged on about 5 minutes too long. in fact, it would be better if they hadn’t been booked at all.
Called it!!!!!!!
Leo has to do a comedy. That’s what Bale’s problem was with the Academy, but he lucked out with The Fighter. Leo has to lighten up her bait, and maybe they’ll give in.
Ed Harris is taking it!!!
How can you not love JLaw? I thought SLP was a bit shit, and I still love JLaw.
Lawrence’s speech was so dry. I’m underwhelmed.
Tommy Lee Jones is the shit…love the guy
OMG tommy lee jones does not like fun. or will ferrell. or Kristen. Holy crap.
I am inwardly rooting for Kathryn Bigelow and ZD30….why am I rooting for a film I haven’t seen.
JLaw made a not-so-humble gaffe.
@ SallyinChicago
Leo has worked with indie directors and has worked with QT. it got him jackshit.
Shit, I fell off my couch during her Harvey-bit 🙂
Note to the camera man: Do not pan over to Tommy Lee Jones. He’s either drunk or angry.
He will not win the OSCAR!
Great speech by Lawrence. Chastain has to KILL her speech to give her a run for her money.
Meet your Waterloo, Jessica Chastain, and her nickname is J-Law.
I like Bill Murray’s facial hair
Srun – wtf?
Jennifer Lawrence on her to Oscar…
That was a cute skit. JLaw nice speech. She could win it!
She is funny…..”Harvey, Thank you for killing whoever you killed to get me up here…”
Shouldn’t they have invited Dubya instead?
DDL clapping for Lawrence. 🙂
Woohoo! Go Jennifer!
TOMMY LEE JONES DEADPAN!!! MY GOD. LAUGHING SO HARD. XD
Tommy Lee Jones’s grumpy face during the Wiig/Ferrel presentation of Best Actress (Comedy/Musical) : PRICELESS
Expectedly Jennifer Lawrence…No surprise there…the real nail bitter is best actress in drama…
Love how Tommy Lee Jones was NOT smiling through Will and Kristen’s comedy stetch
BILL FUCKING CLINTON!!
Did they forget to do Best Actress TV Drama?
LOL at Kristin wiig and Will Ferrel!
Will Ferrell and this girl what’s her name is not remotely funny. Just annouce it I wanna hear what Lawrence has to say.
Some a-holes on Twitter now saying Taylor Swift is planning a revenge song because she lost to Adele.
We are never ever ever getting a Golden Globe BITCH!
Will and Kristen could be next year’s hosts!
Yeah, they don’t bring the Democratic God for a movie that will lose. Lincoln has got this in the bag.
@The Great Dane Dave Karger says no. https://twitter.com/davekarger/status/290639322766516225
Angelica Houston looks like Joker in Batman movies….
Nice touch Bill Clinton. Nice speech Kevin Costner – he always gives good speeches.
Wow. Just WOW! Was it known that Clinton would show up? That was the best scoop the Globes have ever had! 🙂
Some a-holes on Twitter now saying Taylor Swift is planning a revenge song because she lost to Adele. Both songs were worthy and maybe shoulda been a tie.
Holy shit Clinton + Lincoln = <3
Biggest Endorsement everrrrr!!!
Cool the President!!
Oh damn they got Clinton to intro LINCOLN. Woah. That’s freakin’ insane. I think it just won the Oscar for BP. Dayum.
Ok that was one BIG push from Clinton…..Not every movie gets introduced by a “real” President of the USA….
So……is Adele’s main goal to win every single type of award offered? Because if so it seems she’s halfway there. Zzzzzzzzz
Kevin Costner is still working?
” pork chops and apple sauce” – Keifer Sutherland
I think Jessica Alba’s dress was expecting bigger boobies.
Go Adele!
Glad I’ve got my prediction on Life of Pi for Best Score right.
If I’m right, it’s not winning anything else.
@The Great Dane this being the Hollywood Foreign Press my money is on the Musical winning…I mean this is the group that gave Evita the award over Fargo..
go Adele go… Oscar is waiting!!!
Gotta love Adele. The bemused faces in the room are the people who don’t want to remember what it felt like to be that humble and ordinary / never even felt like that and can’t understand what she’s saying.
LEGEND
I love how effortlessly charming and hilarious Adele is compared to most of the rehearsed, calculated acceptance speeches we usually hear at these awards shows.
@Des Brown I don’t really watch TV so I only know Damian Lewis from this movie where he steals Tom Hardy’s girlfriend during wartime. Hence, I don’t like him. lol
Adele is simply as unpretentious as they come. She always give the best and most honest speeches. Love it! 🙂
Adele was cute and charming….I like when they dont take their win too seriously:)
Adele’s high fiving with Craig was sweet.
Damien Lewis went to the same school as Prime Minister David Cameron – Eton. Here in the UK he also occasionally guest hosts the topical comedy panel quiz show HAVE I GOT NEWS FOR YOU – check him out on You Tube, he’s really good
AnthonyP – lucky Jason Clarke wasn’t nominated.
Actually I swear I’ve seen JLo’s dress before, just red. Did someone wear that years ago?
OMG Ang Lee’s so cute. *waves back*
Yesssss…. Life of Pi!!!!
yesss
Ow, that was painful. I pity for the guy.
Oh man. Nice dress on JLO. lololol I can’t stop thinking of the implications. XD
Tough shit. The Brits and the Aussies are talented too!
Okay this is why you don’t have real people on live TV.
I’m tired of finding out an actor on tv is English or Australian (I.e. Damien Lewis)
Do we not have enough talent in the states?
Waltz isn’t supporting. He’s the lead. That’s messed up.
It’s so WEIRD when they hand out BEST SERIES awards before BEST ACTRESS IN A SERIES. Shouldn’t Claire Danes have won her award BEFORE her show wins best series?
Did they really just SHUFFLE the awards order this year? Give them out in chunks that are connected so the viewers know where we are. It’s completely impossible to know which categories have been handed out and what’s still to come, haha!
Paddy. I respect your opinion I just disagree . Pi is not bad film .i think the beast of southern wild was far more moving of the 3 water movies the impossible being the other.
And the Emmy for Best Direction of an Awards Show goes to – not the Golden Globes
Alfredo: So Silver Linings stopped being the frontrunner in that category? 🙂
Fire the TD
Okay I think there are only four colors for dresses tonight. Black. Red. Blue. Sparkly Goldish.
the tokobakso.com stream is ten seconds behind the livetvcafe stream, BUT it’s in sync and a crystal clear picture. Thank you! :)))
Wow, the director isn’t watching the show. Scan? Scan what? lol
Michael J Fox Jr. certainly looks like dad.
Best hosts ever
If any film besides Les Miz wins Best Picture Comedy/Musical I will give up my first born…
Will Sally Field win over Anne Hathaway?
For me Julianne Moore is one of the greatest actresses. She should’ve already won an Oscar. So I am happy she at least received this Golden Globe.
@Mikhail 🙁 Leo’s widdle face. Now I’m sad.
CZJ – what sort of weird non-UK accent was that?
Everybody’s gonna sing LES MIS stuff. lol Love CZJ though. She looks amazing.
KZJ – that was a little awkward.
Poor guy

I doubt Waltz is winning the Oscars.
And who didn’t doubt that Benh Zeitlin and Michael Haneke would replace Ben Affleck and Kathryn Bigelow?
Yup, all bets are so off!
BOOGIE NIGHTS reunion YAY!!!

Tommy Lee Jones will win Oscar
I doubt Waltz is winning the Oscars.
For me all bets are off now. I really don’t know how this award season will end. What a year!
The look on Christoph’s face when he flashed back to the slave being whipped and made up his mind on how things will end was worth the award alone.
CRAZY that Waltz could beat Leo. Especially with them both nominated, you’d think they’d cancel each other out.
Jones was the frontrunner a week ago, but now with Hoffman winning the BFCA and Waltz winning the Globe, anyone can win the Oscar. I love it!
WOW. What a great beginning to the Globes show. Waltz now becomes the favorite to receive the Sup Actors award at the OSCARS. Well deserving as one could almost say he was the lead in the film. This is the way this award should be won. Not for appearing in five minutes or less.
That quip about Bigelow wing married to Cameron for 3 years was classic!
This doesn’t bode well for Lincoln, this was supposed to be one its easy wins. Well, we’ll see how the night goes, I LOVED Lincoln !
We’re talkin’ what. We’re talkin’ we got – all we got – a hundred voters? Foreign? The hay is in the barn for Django.
Was hoping for Leo but it’s okay. Tommy Lee Jones looked really handsome.
That opening dialogue was stellar. Great show so far.
But I do hope that was the beginning of a DJANGO sweep.
Yes indeed, good luck Naomi!
I was being sarcastic, Edkargir. Life of Pi is my favourite of all the Best Picture nominees this year. Extraordinary film.
So, no 7/7 for Lincoln. 😉
Anybody who can’t be there, shouldn’t win! I think if Leo stops working with Scorcesee and start working with QT and other “edgy” directors, he’ll win someday.
Good luck Naomi!
DJANGO!!! Go Christoph!!
Well, I think it’s official: I now have NO idea who the frontrunner is for Best Supporting Actor.
Li of pi is not shit just the weekest of the 9 bp nominations
As far as Black actresses go, Kerry is on a roll.
Christoph Waltz?? Certainly didn’t see that coming…
Thanks Paddy, much appreciated.
Poor Leo. LOL. Maybe I need to add Waltz to my Oscar predicts now….
WTF, Christoph Waltz ? He was great, sure…but this better not be the beginning of a Django-sweep. Could the HFPA be THAT powerless when it comes to Harvey ?
Christoph Waltz Best Supporting Actor! The Supporting actor race is still wide open…
Christoph!
So that’s 0/2 for Tommy Lee Jones at the major awards thus far.
And Waltz isn’t up for the SAG! This certainly is a topsy-turvy year! Is any frontrunner safe?
Hopefully a harbinger of more surprises as the night goes on!
WALTZ! Go DJANGO now, go Tarantino!
thanks paddy!
OMG now I have to love Tina Fey because of the cut to Patinkin joke. 😀
I know, Edkargir, the life and pi was shit, right?
Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are killing it so far…
Slp is much better than the life and pi
Phoned my mom to remind her the Golden Globes are on.
Mom: Will it be over before the Abby Awards start?
Me:..? oh. You mean Downton Abbey?
Mom: yes, that.
So tomorrow I have begin a search to find my real mom.
This one works for me
http://livetvcafe.net/video/8XBK9SMHGS9U/NBC
Sync is a little out though, but it’s not too bothersome
I really hope someone finds a better stream. I cannot stare at these three women staring at a screen the entire way. help?
it started! yeii!
Here … we … go!
WOOHOO!!! IT’S ON! Have fun everybody. 😀
I made a whole day out of the Golden Globes, I went to my local movie theater and watched the 4 nominated films still available, for the second time :
LES MISÉRABLES – I didn’t like it the first time around, I did like it on my second viewing and also could finally answer what my problem was the last time : the novel has been one of my favorites since I was 9-10, so I could probably never flat out hate a Les Misérables film simply because I love the original story so much, but I was very disappointed with the remarkably flawed execution and since I wasn’t that familiar with the musical, only the novel (I’ve seen the musical once with my family when I was like 15), nor was I used to the musical format, I simply couldn’t enjoy it as much as I did today. I still think it has its flaws, but now I could appreciate it for what it is : a faithful adaptation of a flawed musical based on a brilliant novel. For what it’s worth, even with all his questionable choices here, Tom Hooper still deserves credit for directing SEVERAL of the best acting performances of 2012 and that includes an Oscar-worthy turn of a lifetime from Hugh Jackman, the slightly calculated but still powerful work from Anne Hathaway and the big revelation, Eddie Redmayne. Having said that, the film didn’t deserve nominations for directing and writing, so I’m glad the Academy didn’t jump on the bandwagon like they did with Silver Linings Playbook. It was 5/10 the first time, now it is 7/10.
LIFE OF PI – I liked it the first time, I LOVED it the second time. If there is any justice, the film will win at least 5 Oscars for its visuals alone, all I can say is that I am extremely sad it had to be released in such a strong year, it could have been the big favorite in 2011, 2010, 2008 etc., and hadn’t the competition been so massive, the adapted screenplay could have been a strong threat and Suraj Sharma could have been nominated for his tour-de-force performance. 7/10 the first time, 9/10 the second time.
THE IMPOSSIBLE – I liked it the first time, I liked it the second time. Sure, it is manipulative at times, but the production values, directing choices, and spectacularly raw acting performances make this one a damn fine film, not one of the most innovative or visionary pieces for sure, but still…a damn fine film. It baffles me that it failed to receive a single tech nod, and though I was expecting his snub, I think it’s sad Ewan McGregor couldn’t secure an Oscar nomination for his stunning, memorable turn, because the Academy decided to go with their beloved veterans, some of them deserving, some of them so clearly NOT. Also, Tom Holland was excellent, one of the greatest revelations of 2012. 7/10 on both viewings.
SILVER LININGS PLAYBOOK – I didn’t like it the first time on Thursday, and boy did I ALMOST hate it today. I think the story is mediocre, the adaptation is mediocre, the directing is mediocre. I did love the performances, though, but to me, that’s rarely enough. Jennifer Lawrence makes it so much better, her sheer presence elevates the film and when she isn’t around, it suffers big time, having said that, I do not think she deserved a lead nomination, she should have been a supporting frontrunner for sure, but I firmly believe had she been an average-looking relatively unknown middle-aged woman (closer to the novel’s Tiffany), it wouldn’t have even crossed anyone’s mind to place her in lead. Bradley Cooper was a nice surprise, I’m glad he finally started taking himself seriously, it clearly paid off, and frankly Jackie Weaver should have been a stronger player during the precursor-stage, she was VERY good, as well. I wasn’t really into De Niro’s performance, but that’s just me. 5/10 on both viewings. Also, I am honestly curious what I am clearly not getting here, so if someone who liked/loved this film could share his/her take with me, I would appreciate it.
Adams is dressed like a winner. Watch out Hathaway!

I ‘m also having trouble. The below link is saying it streams live at 8pm EST and a video is playing. It’s just a bunch of ladies talking to a television at the moment so we ‘ll see.

Good luck
Thank you, Easky, but it would seem like I have to make an account or something.
Those previous links better work once the show starts. If anyone sees a stream og the show itself on another page, please share it here. 🙂
So far the Red Carpet worked here http://www.ontheredcarpet.com/livevideo?id=8953041 , but it won’t work for the show
This link is working for me really well.

Hope it does for you.
Guys,
Really bad streams.
I´m watching from a braziian TV.
http://www.vertvonlineaovivo.tv/
I hope that HFPA will give best director to K Bigelow. They didn’t award her for The Hurt Locker and she deserves at least this Golden Globe, and the DGA and the BAFTA, for her masterpiece Zero Dark Thirty.
It´s now!
GO ARGO!
GO AFFLECK!
GO PHOENIX, WATTS, HOFFMAN, HUNT!
your not alone dane, does anyone have advice on the live streams?
@The Great Dane
No, you’re not the only one. I have the same problem.
Am I the only one who can’t get the streaming links in your previous post to work? Everyone is like “thanks for the links – look at Nicole!”. When I go to the webpage, none of the links are working yet?
