Sammy,
“Amour” is a great Foreign Film.
It´s obvious.
Every movie in its right category!
Sympathy (or outrage) @ Oscars for Affleck & love for Academy-fave Clooney = Argo for Best Pic. Spielberg’s no lock, w/ Russell & Haneke in mix. Thought Riva’s b-day was day before Oscars, though could be wrong. Agree w/ comment that has BAFTA trying to be the
un-Oscar Oscars. Too much emphasis on Lee & Pi, but otherwise like the list, but for its lack of Affleck.and/or Argo.
didnt know Rivas birthday was on the day of the oscars…very interesting….
Nixon,
What a though-provoking piece of film commentary. The Brits like to think they’re different.. This won’t match Oscar.
Ang Lee should win DGA and Academy. Steven Spielberg is nothing but loads and loads of shit
WTF!!!
Tobey Jones beat Daniel Day-Lewis?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 😐
Amour won the LAFCA best picture award (Academy home – Los Angeles) and the London Critics Circle award for best picture (BAFTA home – London). This is realy getting interesting this year.
@Fabinho – why changing Amour? It is a wonderful piece of material that deserves its place as the best picture.
DGA will opt to award an oscar nominated director. That is Lee or Spielberg. So it is very much clear Ang Lee will take the DGA home. Affleck has no chance of winning the DGA.
Best winner lineup so far.
Amour, Lee, Riva, Phoenix all perfectly deserved!!
Impeccable list
Wonderful list, only changing Amour from Picture to Foreign Picture.
Just missed Argo. The rest is perfect.
‘life of Pi’ is getting more and more momentum , Pi is doing huge box office all over the world ( almost 500 Million worldwide ) and 100 Million domestic finally.
This may be a sign of who will win the Directing Oscar. If Ang Lee has strong support from the British contingent, as this may indicate, he will take the Bafta award, and quite possibly the Oscar two weeks later. If he wins the DGA, then it’s a done deal. If Ben Affleck takes the DGA, as many think at this point, Bafta may show us which way Oscar will lean. But if Steven Spielberg wins DGA, and Lee wins Bafta, then Oscar night could potentially be very interesting, likely leaning toward Spielberg but setting Lee up as a spoiler… This is still the race to watch.
This would be a dream like AMPAS lineup.
Congrats to ALL the deserving winners. . . and esp. Anne Hathaway! According to Wikipedia, this is her 35th award (including Ensemble Acting Awards & AFI recognition) for her role as Fantine in Les Mis!! That has to be some sort of record going into the BAFTA’s and Oscars, right?
This is my favourite list of winners so far!
Pi is doing huge box office in UK. Pi should cross over 100 million after tomorrow.
Wow, congrats to Anne Hathaway! This is like her 27th precursor win!
I think Riva will end up winning Oscar.
I really like these winners. Hope Lee gets the BAFTA!
I really like this list.
Great for Ang Lee. He deserves it. So Happy for Phoenix !
Congrats to the wonderful Mr. Ang Lee, Joaquin Phoenix and Emmanuelle Riva. I think Lee and Riva might take BAFTA too. Then the Brits in AMPAS will line up for her over Naomi Watts.
You know it!
Np ty 🙂
That’s really strange… I had a dream just last night in which Amour and Ang lee won the picture and director-oscars… I was really happy about those results in my dream just as I am with these now…
