Can anyone find a bigger pic of that 2nd poster. Very interested in seeing their designs for all the BP winners.

It looks like there is a different statuette for each Best Picture winner through the years – is there a link where we can get the details of what each statue looks like? I wouldn’t want to purchase it just to find out…

hipper, you can examine every golden drag queen in the whole disturbing freakshow here

Those are really weird and some are downright creepy. Million Dollar Baby looks like an alien.

Some of those are so creepy while others seem almost offensive. And yet, I can’t help loving them. I wonder if the designer was in on the joke or if it’s one of those things the Academy does with oh-so-earnest intentions only to not realize just how wrong it all looks.

Again, for the camp factor, I love it…intentional or not.

BTW, why are some of these labeled and some of them aren’t? It seems lazy.

NVM, the first versions are labeled, while the second versions aren’t.

I don’t understand the Crash one.

  9. February 11, 2013

yep Scotty, when I was grabbing these off the slideshow carousel to post I didn’t notice that I was getting some labeled and some not. But I think most of the ones I chose are no mystery — so I didn’t spoil the game, I hope.

for the ones that are not so easy to figure out, I think it’s best not to stare at them in bewilderment too long

  10. February 11, 2013

The Crash test dummy? I think it’s… um, does it show the Oscar is tarnished? hollow?

I’m trying not to think that it’s an African-American Oscar. Please no.

God. I think this is the worst thing I’ve ever seen. I want one. lol

The Deer Hunter one is hilarious. And The English Patient OMG. XD

  12. February 11, 2013

Makes me wish Boogie Nights had won Best Picture.

    Thanks Ryan.

Umm… yeah, some of these are creepy. I think ‘The Sound of Music’ one would’ve given me nightmares when I was a kid. Some of them are just plain lazy… ‘A Beautiful Mind’, ‘Slumdog Millionaire’…

There are a few decent ones that I liked though like ‘The Artist’, ‘Titanic’, ‘West Side Story’ and ‘Chariots of Fire’.

Now, many of us are going to wonder what they would have done with the nominated films that didn’t win Best Picture.

  15. Antoinette
    February 11, 2013

I went through all of them. lololol When they got to THE BEST YEARS OF OUR LIVES, they should have just nixed the whole idea. ONE FLEW OVER THE CUCKOO’S NEST and ORDINARY PEOPLE are winners too. XD It’s like a black comedy. I might be laughing for a while.

If I’m picking one that’s actually cool, I like AMADEUS.

these are all kinds of awful!

Please Academy gives the Oscar to Emmanuelle Riva and don’t full in Weinstein game, and I sure you a O.Russell’s stupid face.

[Dummy] No Country’s Anton Chigurh’s hair looks far better than the supposedly outrageous, hideous one worn by the human character himself. But the statuette’s life expectancy, had it been human, would have been most likely very low, if you ask me, given the way it handles the weapon. [Someone’s gonna have a hole or two in his own chin sooner or later.]

“Makes me wish Boogie Nights had won Best Picture.”

Given the final scene, Diggler dummy, depending on his brother Richard’s mood, could use the same pose as No Country’s Anton Chigurh — if you know what I mean — though.

Beautiful Mind has nothing. Schindler’s List has the girl in red. Dances With Wolves has a Native American. Crash… WOW! Buy the poster while you can, it could become a collectible LOL–I have a feeling this is going to be pulled fast.

I am …. just trying to come to terms with the Crash one but I can’t :(

If it’s an African-American Oscar, ok… but gotdamn, it’s so menacing. I feel bad about saying this but I think I have a right to stand my ground.

  22. Antoinette
    February 11, 2013

Well why would it be black? I hated CRASH but I remember clearly that it was about all kinds of racist people and Don Cheadle gave some speech about people living in bubbles and having to crash into each other. A crash test dummy makes the most sense but it doesn’t look like that either.

It almost looks like it’s supposed to be either see-thru or bronze. IDK. We need clarification.

The ones for Godfather and Godfather II are the same except for the cat. Considering that it wasn’t the same Godfather in both films, they could’ve done a better job with Part II.

Also, some of these are so wrong that I was expecting something truly bad and offensive with Slumdog Millionaire.

This is much better than the lame-ass one they initially dropped with Seth McFarlane holding the statue.

For this they zealously guard their trademark?

All I can say is oy.

    February 11, 2013

    I absolutely love this.

For me the worst one is not Crash but Rain Man.

A Beautiful Mind – it took me a second, but it’s genius.

  27. February 11, 2013

For me the worst one is not Crash but Rain Man.

disturbing for so many reasons, not the least of which are all the small pieces that pose a choking hazard.

    (speaking of choking hazards).

    February 12, 2013

This is unintentionally hilarious… I love it! My favorites are West Side Story, Schindler’s List and A Beautiful Mind. But for pure LOL factor, the 1953 one is so funny (swim trunks! ocean wave!)

  29. Manuel L.
    February 12, 2013

    This is wonderful.
And it makes me wish “Zero Dark Thirty” won even more, cause it’s obvious they would make a Bin Laden Oscar for that poster, right?

  30. Akumax
    February 12, 2013

Crash is such a bad movie that even the Oscar here is one of the worst.

  31. Zach
    February 12, 2013

This is the reason why Lincoln should win. I can’t even imagine what Argo would look like. Nope. Can’t even make a suggestion or a snide joke.

Pi and Beasts would also lend themselves to interesting designs.

  32. Mel
    February 13, 2013

If Argo wins, it’s Oscar depiction should be srtips of shredded paper put together, forming the Oscar. It’s the SLP Oscar which would be hard to conceptualize.

These make on wish that Shame had won BP last year.
