Jennifer Lawrence’s honesty is refreshing in Hollywood. Shame on Dior for photoshopping anything on Lawrence – she doesn’t need it. The ads are lovely, of course, but it’s to be noted and advertised that they always “enhance” already thin and flawless women to make them look even more thin and even more flawless.
“That doesn’t look like me at all! I love Photoshop more than anything in the world,” she told Access Hollywood‘s Billy Bush, who showed her the pictures for the first time on the Oscar red carpet. In the black-and-white shots, the Oscar winner’s skin looks impossibly smooth, her neck preternaturally long, her arms Angelina Jolie-skinny.
Bush tried to insist that he was looking at the real, J. Law deal, but Lawrence dug in her stilettos: “Of course it’s Photoshop. People don’t look like that.”
Meanwhile, a fan on Tumblr made a better Dior ad:
She was not my 1st 2nd or even 3rd personal pick for the win but it is quite refreshing to see someone who is on the rise to really be honest. Kind of takes me back to personalities like Hepburn, Davis, Crawford etc.
Yeah, photoshopping someone who’s only 22 is really ridiculous. Or at any age imo.
Why don’t show wrinkles? I know it’s a nightmare for most people, but for me the lines in the face tell a story about a person’s life and experience. No need to be ashamed of.
But vanity still rules.
If I’m not mistaken, Jennifer is 22 not 32. I’m sure we were all so perfect and polished at 22. smh.
For sure, Ryan.
Even though I was quoting someone else, I wear my “deleted” badge with great pride!
Pierre de Plume, I didn’t see the problem until your quote brought it back to top of the column.
You know what you saw was wrong, and I appreciate your calling out PassiveSloth. But best to just erase all that mess, yes?
Thanks for helping us keep an out.
The world must be an easier place when you’re too dumb to realize how dumb you are.

If only we all were as sophisticated and erudite as PassiveSloth.
@PassiveSloth
You’re a sad person, aren’t you?
“…She kind of grows into it. And she’s strong, like a male hero with a vagina.” – Jennifer Lawrence on the character of Katniss.
“…If I’m going to be naked in paint in front of the entire world, I’m going to look like a woman. I’m going to have curves and have boobs and have a butt. Because girls are going to look at that, and if I look like a scarecrow, they are going to think, Oh, that’s normal. It’s not normal…” – Jennifer Lawrence on body image.
“I’d never met a cat where you assume first it’s a boy. Because dogs are boys and cats are girls. But she has such a masculine energy that everybody always says ‘he’ and for the first week I thought it was a boy. I named her Oliver. She had a collar with Oliver. Just boy, boy, boy. And that just got weird for a cat. So we call her Chaz Bono.” – Jennifer Lawrence on naming her cat Chaz Bono.
“By the way, you are the most interesting person. I was in the dressing room going ‘I want weird quirks!’ …That’s so cool! He can’t step on the floor!” Jennifer Lawrence speaking directly to Jesse Eisenberg about his OCD on the Jay Leno show.

I weep for the sanity of this country.
As Steve50 said, if you take the ad out of context, it does look gorgeous. The ad is really elegant and even better in B&W. If Dior is smart they would actually play off this.
There is also one going around the Internet of Lawrence in the middle and pictures of Disney Princesses in the same pose around her.
Re her education, I checked. And they said, she graduated from high school two years early reportedly with a 3.9 average. In my opinion, schools vary in standards and students in their honesty *not saying she cheated [you (people) know who and what you are though]*, etc., but I believe at least she finished high school. And began a career in acting.

Some girls do look that thin like the thumbnail and many of them may have been suffering eating disorder of sort. To be blunt I wouldn’t call it curvaceous. *apparently*
That ad looks interesting in this light; good for them to have turned it all around.
“Um, joan, I was under the impression that Lawrence graduated high school early so she could pursue her career in acting.”
Well, then, maybe she should pick a story and stick to it.
“She just downplays a lot”
So, she isn’t the relatable, “normal”, girl next door after all?? Huh…imagine that!
She just downplays a lot…I do think she was more polished during the Winter’s Bone Oscar campaign, but after all the Hunger Games fame, she probably just decided to lose the media coaching and be how she is in private. And it worked very well for her.
Um, joan, I was under the impression that Lawrence graduated high school early so she could pursue her career in acting.
Honestly, I’m fu**ing tired of seeing this chick.
This picture is simply breathtaking. Who is the photographer?
Why is the world showering this girl with such adulation??
J.L. : “I didn’t go to high school. I am vastly uneducated.” When asked if she’d ever want to go back, she says, “Absolutely not.”
“I always felt dumber than everybody else. I hated it. I hated being inside. I hated being behind a desk. School just kind of killed me.”
“I’m making movies. It’s stupid”
“I’m just dumb”
J.L. fans: “Love her. She is relatable. She is normal. She is just like me.”
How sad…
Actually, if you take it out of context, that’s a great looking ad.
Well, I don’t agree with “People don’t look like that”. The women in my family are all naturally very thin…that’s just the way we’re built. That doesn’t mean we’re not normal people who eat 3 meals a day. But as far as the perfect complexion, the flat stomachs, and the curves Photoshop can create/enhance, I agree with her that most magazine photos are very unnatural.
The Dior ad is beautiful.
Wow, I love that Tumblr ad. It’s gorgeous!
It wouldn’t surprise me if the phantom hand belonged to Jack Nicholson. He did think she looked like his old girlfriend….
@Christophe It’s probably Cooper or Jackman who both jumped up to help her from the front row.
I’ve watched it several times now. The great thing about it is she stumbled, and Jean Dujardin, Hugh Jackman, and Bradley Cooper all ran to help but she got up by herself.
GIRL POWER! 😀

I didn’t think SLP was all that impressive, but I have to admit that Lawrence is charming the pants off me post Oscar. She may have won a lot more fans because of the red carpet stuff.
Jade,
That’s brilliant. Now THAT would an add I’d like to see..
^^I love the shadowy hand looming over her dress, very dramatic! who’s that nosferatu behind her? david, harvey, bradley or someone else?
That tumblr made Dior ad makes her look like Cinderella when she’s about to lose her shoe. Dior should make a commercial out of it.
:sexy voice in commercial: “Christian Dior…we know beauty and it only costs a mouse click.”
