(not to scale)
Warner Bros has announced Andy and Lana Wachowski’s Jupiter Ascending is set for a July 25, 2014 premiere. Mila Kunis, Channing Tatum and Sean Bean star in the science fiction film set in a time where humans are near the bottom of the evolutionary ladder. A young destitute human woman (Kunis) is targeted for assassination by the Queen of the Universe because her very existence threatens to end the Queen’s reign.
In a twist to the classic fairy tale ‘Snow White’, Mila Kunis plays the only person who possesses the same perfect genetic makeup as the highly evolved Queen of the Universe. But what the wicked ruler never imagined is that the young woman threatening her reign is a Russian immigrant cleaning lady on Earth. A bounty hunter (Channing Tatum) is dispatched to take her down, but instead, falls in love with the earthling and decides to become her protector. The Wachowski siblings (The Matrix trilogy, Cloud Atlas) are directing the sci-fi action film with Warner Bros. and Village Roadshow co-financing. (MovieNewZ)
“Not to scale” …
Mila Kunis at the bottom of the evolutionary ladder? Please.
I always wondered when they’d make a film about the Queen of the Universe.
Getting some vague Battlefield Earth vibes from this picture. But fingers crossed, hope its a gem.
Thanks GoOnNow! I thought I was the only one who thought Kunis was disappointing in “Oz”. She was quite good in “Black Swan” (as you’ve said, Aronofsky really kicks ass when trying to elicit great performances out of actors), and I think the pressure of playing an iconic role probably got to her. She was really bland before her transformation, and she overacts after her transformation. Also, I wish the film has a better script, because Kunis’ character is really under-written as well (so do most of the characters, especially the 3 witches). To me, the film suffers from a confusion of tone. It wants to go darker, but it also wants to please the kids who’ll go see this…
The film’s plot sounds like complete bullshit to me. Queen of the universe? I’ll pass. Not interested.
“Mila is so lifeless in “Oz the Great and Powerful”, shame shame shame
and Sam Raimi, a brilliant director, to allow himself to be dictated from producers and create such a mediocre (at best) film…”
So not true. Both Raimi and Kunis do a great job in OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL.
“In case anybody wonders why Mila was good in Black Swan, look no further – a director who knows that the actors are there to be directed!”
Yess! and that is the God honest truth!
Hope this is a win for the Wachowskis. I liked Cloud Atlas, it’s a shame it did not do very well.
OTT but why would someone photoshop Mila’s neck like that? It looks ridiculous.
