I think it’s interesting to note that half the acting winners are African American: Cicely Tyson, Patina Miller, Billy Porter, and Courtney B. Vance.
Yep the Tony Award show always puts the Oscars to shame. Too bad there were slim pickings on the Great White Way this past year, but sadly this has been the trend as of late.
So… Tracy Letts beat Hollywood’s most popular actor. Not good business for Weinstein. The industry may have a chance to get revenge later this year.
Two things are evident:
1 – The Tonys (show) puts the Oscars to shame
2 – They don’t get any classier than Cicely Tyson
just saw the opening of the Tony’s. Lord, have mercy! it was great. and to Ryan who says he’ll puke if he sees another “Broadway style” number on the Oscars—like the Tony’s, the Oscars are LIVE ENTERTAINMENT. people sing, people dance. it’s called show biz, bud. when it’s done right (and it often is on the Oscars) there’s nothing like it. that’s hard to understand when the majority of your entertainment is at a mall multiplex.
…people sing, people dance. it’s called show biz, bud.
It’s called Broadway. It’s called a stage show, bud.
It makes perfect brilliant sense to duplicate parts of the same theater performances in honor of the theater entertainment being awarded at the Tonys. I love it too.
It makes no sense whatsoever to have a bunch of dancers hopping around in an interpretative musical reenactment of Slumdog Millionaire.
yes, but do please mock me if I think people watching the Oscars should see something about movies instead of a gaudy vaudeville show. Especially when the actual award-winning filmmakers are dragged offstage after 25 seconds as if they’re a boring distraction.
I’m sorry, my bad. I meant “Les Misery Balls.”
Why the Oscars won’t consider NPH as host, I don’t understand.
I get the impression tonight that Broadway wasn’t impressed with the LES MISERABLES movie.
(Or as I my dad calls it, Les Miserable balls.)
OK, this works

Once again, I cannot get access to CBS, even though I have a TV and live in the U.S.
Would anyone have a live stream online?
I found this site, but it’s the press room:
