Bobby Cannavale won, that is all I wanted. Yaay!
Happy for the inevitable Breaking Bad and Anna Gunn wins as well.
So sad jessica Lange was not crowned the winner for her insanely brave and chilling work on another season of AHS
Yesterday on AD:
“The only remarkable thing about the Emmys is how unremarkable they are. Though most are predicting a Breaking Bad throwdown, I am not so sure about that. Hard to see through the obsessive nature of the internet when it comes to Breaking Bad. It’s hard to know if Emmy voters will feel the same. Probably. But I wonder. Now in season 3 Games of Thrones is a real threat – House of Cards remains an unknown. It is pioneering a new brand of television before the television Academy…
…with the Emmys you are always better off predicting the expected rather than taking a risk.”
CARRIE PRESTON!!! Love The Good Wife and love it even more when Carrie appears ……. good for you Carrie!
Stop giving the award to Julia Louis-Dreyfus and give it to f**king Amy Poehler already!
Can’t tell you how happy I am that Tony Hale won for Veep. Great actor and he steals the scenes in Veep. Glad for Julia as well but really wanted Amy P to win.
How did Paulson and Lange not win? Those were shocking to me.
LOVED
1. Laura Linney – My favorite win of the night. Subtle, nuanced work when it could have been so easily lifetimesquely cheap and melodramatic even in such skilled hands as hers. Well-deserved !
2. Breaking Bad – Fifth time the charm, YAY ! And after the horrific car crash that the Drama Actor race turned out to be, it was truly the VERY least…
3. Modern Family – At this point, clearly a ‘boring’ choice but what can I say I fell in love with it four years ago and the heart wants what the heart wants !
HATED
1. Sarah Paulson – Honestly what the flying fuck does this criminally underrated talent has to pull off to win a damn Emmy if her revelatory work in Asylum wasn’t enough ? Thank God, she is at least still enjoying a career high (Game ChangeTwelve Years a Slave) .
2. Jeff Daniels – I don’t really hate him but I do kind of hate Emmy voters right now. In what universe is his performance even mentioned among THOSE performances AND then also beat all of them in the end ? My arguable ranking – Cranston, Lewis, Spacey, Hamm…………………………………..Boneville & Daniels.
3. James Cromwell – Another one I don’t get. Quinto was iconic this season, Hickey delivered wonderful work, not to mention the brilliant Mullan.
TORN
1. Julia Louis-Dreyfus – Love her to death and she deserved it so much, but when will Emmy people realize that the brilliant Amy Poehler has yet to win ?
2. Claire Danes – I can’t blame voters here, her work was once again truly outstanding, I just wish Kerry Washington would get better material so next time she could at least have a fighting chance. I’ve been rooting for a career boost since Ray and though fortunately it definitely happened (Django, Scandal), I still feel she isn’t appreciated the way that would be fitting considering her great acting talent.
Anna Gunn, well-deserved for Skyler, another female role that got more complicated and compelling as the series go on!
Super disappointed at Modern Family winning, at least give it to Veep or 30 Rock, or even to the Big Bang Theory.
Krakowski didn’t win, but at least Merritt Weaver is one of the best thing in Nurse Jackie.
Loved Edie Falco’s heartfelt tribute to Gandolfini.
I personally would give Matt Damon the best actor (miniseries) award. Michael Douglas didn’t give the character as much depth as Damon did. Damon’s character felt like a human being.
I love Burstyn, who is again playing a sassy character, but Sarah Paulson should’ve gotten the Emmy instead.
Jeff Daniels? Probably split vote between Spacey, Cranston, and Lewis. At least his speech was good. So overall, not a terrible list of winners (except for Modern Family winning Best Comedy).
Kevin Spacey looks high tonight haha
Downton Abbey wuz robbed! And HIMYM too but we already knew it, some shows are just too good for the Emmys…
” Best Comedy Series… ridiculous. No comments. The lack of reaction from the crowd speaks for itself”
Yeah, probably a split-vote situation here between Louie, Veep, 30 Rock and Girls.
how fun, right!! Most of those I was hoping for didn’t win, but damn, there was some suspense. I have to remind myself it’s just awards, and they’re not paying my mortgage. I really enjoyed tonight, I hope you did too.
Watching Breaking Bad win made the whole night worth while.
Yeah… at least they didn’t shit it all by giving Drama Series to Homeland. Best Comedy Series… ridiculous. No comments. The lack of reaction from the crowd speaks for itself. Modern Family has now more Emmys than any other show in television history but Frasier. This is the dark age of comedy but there were better choices there. And I like Modern Family but no show deserves to win Series 4 years in a row.
UGH, I was right. Stupid, stupid, stupid Emmys.
I liked Michael Douglas’ speech. I do wish they could have split it. Great movie. And Rob Lowe should have been nominated and won.
Just when you think there’s hope for the Emmys by picking up some new, surprising winners, they give it to Jim Parsons for saying BAZINGA! again.
I’m thinking Modern Family will win again by default.
I love that they are spreading the wealth and all the new winners.
i wanted kerry washington to win , but i’m not upset either! emmys are the crappiest awards ever , they don’t even watch the best shows so the winner usually leaves you scratching your head
Random indeed.
Think maybe Spacey/Cranston split = Daniels win?
That is exactly what I was thinking. I’m barely mad Cranston didn’t win because Daniels’s win is more baffling than Cranston’s loss.
Aaaaaw, Robin Wright got robbed…:(
I agree with you about Robin. I thought she was truly amazing in House of Cards, she had so much depth in that performance.
Randomest Emmys ever!!
Our dear wonderful Anna Gunn got her trophy. SO HAPPY FOR SKYLER!!!!
Well… Laura Linney, 4 Emmys… 0 Oscars.
#AMPASItsabouttime
Happy to know Bob Newhart finally won an Emmy.
Jim Parsons winning sure killed the buzz for the night.
Like the shockers so far…hope it carries over to Oscar
I dont know if it was here in Awards Daily where the editors wrote about the predictability of the Emmys… Well… The last surprise in the level of Merritt Weaver we have seen at the Oscar acting races was Marcia Gay Harden 12 years ago.
Rooting for Adam Driver, Laura Dern, GIRLS, BEHIND THE CANDELABRA, Anna Gunn, BREAKING BAD !!
