How about posting a picture of the WWII vets removing the barricades ordered by the “let’s cause maximum discomfort again, even though it didn’t work out so well for us with sequestration” Obama administration?
How about instead of that we post a disgusting photo of the slimeball GOP congressmen who callously shut down the WWII monument and then went to exploit the vets as props for their transparently craven photo op.
“I ran over as quick as I could […] and I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Michele Bachmann said.
“I had no idea that my ignorant right-wing extremist ideology had any actual effect on real people in the real world!” she forgot to add.
It’s an open air memorial. During previous shutdowns, open air memorials didn’t get barricaded.
Bachmann says a lot of dumb things, but not this time.
They’re sooooo funny. I just can’t imagine how print media is dying. Would a “Senate of Anarchy” or something like that have been worthy of a post?
Daily News usually goes the lowest for a clever headline to sell its rag and this, with it’s pre-teen humor, is no exception. This would have been the cover of MAD magazine a few decades ago.
To jokingly feed the anger is Twitter’s job, not the national media’s. What’s required is thoughful criticism, something that’s always missing from the DN.
As much as I truly love this cover, you’re right. Objectivity has been going out the window for years in the media. This isn’t Twitter, John Stewart, Stephan Colbert or even Bill O’Reilly. No matter where on the political spectrum you fall on, this should discourage people…but it won’t.
God bless the New York media & their absurd headlines, but I am rubbed the wrong way whenever they never make cheap jokes out of genuine legends [examples: Neil Armstrong, Ocar-winner & cinematic icon Kate Wins-Those-Oscars-let (Titanic, The Reader])
**PLEASE DISREGARD THE WORD “never” IN THE ABOVE POST**

Thank you! 🙂

What did they say about Neil and Kate?
sorry – to clarify: those would be two examples of people the LIKES of whom I would never want to see mocked in a headline. Right now I cannot recall any specific existing headline targeting somebody I dearly respect (which may be for the best!!!!)

If they ever do, we’ll go to New York and throw watermelons on their office building OK?
Seriously, Kate should’ve won for Titanic. She did distract the lookouts when they were supposed to be watching for icebergs. So she was essentially responsible for the whole ship sinking and all those people. That’s worthy of an Oscar in my book. It’s like Helen of Troy causing the Trojan War. Wait, does that mean Kate is somehow behind the Government shutdown? I knew it!
Cannot.Helpt.It. Re all this talk about Ocar-winner & cinematic icon Kate Wins-Those-Oscars-let, and her Oscar victory in 2009.
Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role 2008
1. Kate Winslet – REVOLUTIONARY ROAD
2. Maria Onetto – THE HEADLESS WOMAN
3. Tilda Swinton – JULIA
4. Sally Hawkins – HAPPY-GO-LUCKY
5. Arta Drobroshi – LORNA’S SILENCE
———–The Next 5 Just Missing the Cut for a Nom————
6. Sandra Corvelonu – LINHA DE PASSA
7. Michelle Williams – WENDY AND LUCY
8. Kristin Scott Thomas – I’VE LOVED YOU SO LONG
9. Frances McDormand – BURN AFTER READING
10. Anne Hathwaway – RACHEL GETTING MARRIED
p.s. That TITANIC year is another story, but as KT said, out of those 5 nominees Winslet should have won. I’m not sure who I’d have nominated that year (need to go back), but from those 5, Kate is the only one who’d stand a chance.
Agreed! 🙂

Genius. Welcome to the roaring 20 teens, when congressional paid tools egg New York and then get swiftly attacked in return. Hearst would be proud.
