Can anyone tell me why The Past (Le Passe) is not nominated at all?
Ummm… how is Naomi Watts European?
Also, where are the ladies from La Vie d’Adele?
I was going to ship BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN until it got all these nominations. A strange picture. It’d dark and depressing (nothing wrong with that), but, it’s also murky dramatically. And, the lead actor is so damn unsympathetic. Again, nothing wrong with that if it’s done well. But, I don’t think even Director Felix van Groeningen intended for him to be so unlikable.
Can’t deny it’s power on some levels (and the oddness of Belgian Bluegrass Country music is interesting), but, it’s surpising that this film would lead in nominations. Of course, most of us haven’t seen a number of the pictures.
I saw Broken Circle Breakdown last night and LOVED it! Audience applauded at the end. It is a great mix of lighthearted and dark elements. I hope it makes the top 5 Foreign Language Film cut. A worthy honor!
Blue is the warmest color doesn’t deserve any award ’cause promotes pedophilia.
Maybe Abdellatif Kechiche is a voting member, that’s why Adèle Exarchopoulos and Léa Seydoux aren’t here. Just joking. But maybe not.

This is really ridiculous – no Adèle Exarchopoulos and no Léa Seydoux?
I can´t take this seriously! Those were the best performances I´ve seen the whole year!
Adele and Lea was eligible but they have been overlooked
What’s up with the new Comedy Award? So few categories, and they need a Comedy Award?
And even the European Film Awards are star whores. You can say what you want about Anna Karenina (but a screenplay nod, really?) – but Almodovar being nominated for one of his most critically bashed films to date is a joke.
Shocked that Adèle from Blue is not a Best Actress nominee.
And I saw dallas buyers club and is so overrated film, 12 years a slave is better and chiwetel ejiofor is 100 better than McConaughey
I don’t expect it to win but I do think that the BROKEN CIRCLE BREAKDOWN will be one of the final five nominations for BFF….the Academy voters who liked Amour are sure to like this …whereas Amour was just bleak and deeply depressing BCB takes a hard look at life , warts and all , and still remains cautiously optimistic …the militant atheism , existential despair , child cancer is balanced out with the joys of Bluegrass music , comedy , love , sex and drink …the best things in life really are free
Naomi Watts must win for her amazing acting in The Impossible.
Were Adele Exarchopolous and Lea Sedoux somehow inelegible for best actress?
