“Benny thinks Americans are stupid sheep. I’ve been sick of his schtick for weeks. Benny is about to see what happens when a Ram has had enough pestering nonsense.”
Whatever happened to Sam, the blatant homophobe that was always spewing right-wing venom in these forums a few years back? I hope he left of his own accord and you didnt have to waste precious time banning his sorry ass.
“Having finally watched 12 YAS , I must conceed that it is over rated and not worth the 97 at metacritic ; 82-85 sounds about right”
You do realize this is an accumulation of many reviews, correct? No movie gets to the 80s without at least a perfect score (or a 100). Therefore you’re saying that some critics need to bring down their score…….I just stopped myself from continuing. Literally stopped myself. Be level headed, Steve…be level headed…the Oscar heat is just beginning…
@Benny…wait a minute…for all the things you’ve said over the last few months about 12 Years a Slave winning and it’s the years best picture and blah blah blah you had never seen it? Until now?
Here’s the deal on Benny Tarleton
Benny has been behaving like a classic ‘concern troll’ the past few weeks. His constant harping on 12 Years a Slave by saying things like white guilt will prevail at the Oscars — that’s all designed to have the opposite effect of his fake promotional campaign.
Any sane person knows a nasty remark like that is meant to turn people AGAINST 12 Years a Slave — Benny never intended to help the movie. He always intended to damage it. And now he’s back to carry out stage 2 of his transparent scheme: “oh oops, remember that movie I thought was special? Turns out I saw it and now it looks mediocre.”
Benny is about thisclose to having his undermining agenda banned from the site unless he can comment about some movies other than 12 Years a Slave.
Ask yourselves. Who is this guy we never saw before who suddenly pops up out of nowhere and all he ever wants to talk about is nagging and scolding us about 12 years a Slave?
Benny thinks Americans are stupid sheep. I’ve been sick of his schtick for weeks. Benny is about to see what happens when a Ram has had enough pestering nonsense.
Having finally watched 12 YAS , I must conceed that it is over rated and not worth the 97 at metacritic ; 82-85 sounds about right , however , GRAVITY is even more over rated and the 75 that Rex Reid gave it sounds about right too
Furthermore , I’m not impressed with Steve McQeens directing , although I’m still convinced that 12 YAS wins at least B P , BA and BSA ctress ……it’s not the Schindler’s List of Slavery , that’s for sure , but could very well be the PIANIST of slavery
Having finally watched 12 YAS , I must conceed that it is over rated and not worth the 97 at metacritic ; 82-85 sounds about right
I was gonna ask you if I could lay my penis on your measuring device to get a precise scientifically accurate reading of its exact numerical value, but I can see now your scales need to be re-calibrated.
do me a favor? grade these 3 things so I can be sure your have your measuring device fixed, ok?
HER has next to no chance of winning Best picture , for christsake ….it’s 100 /1 , yes a hundred to one at the bookies , and with good reason
Damn! I like the winners! Gravity gravitating towards Oscar BP! Leto & Lupita, way to go! Now I really have to rent Blue Jasmine, maybe tomorrow or the day after.
Sammy, in a year full of amazing movies I believe that seeing Jonze for director spells a win for original screenplay but also a HUGE chance at winning best picture. Her is the type of film that gets voters voting with their hearts. But 12 Years a Slave is still the one to beat and probably for good reason.
Kane – agreed. 12YRS and HER are favorites for Screenplay wins. Her can take the original screenplay but we need to see if Jonze would be able to score a best director nomination as well – that is the key.
Hmm, I forgot a “boob” can mean a joke. I can see the so-called comparison now. Like I said, he’s more level headed than this and if saying “booby prize” makes it easier to point and wag his finger than whatever. You’re right though, very insulting.
When I entered film festivals my one film got “best writing” only and the next got “best acting” only they must’ve been “booby prizes”. I am quite the boob.
Stephen Holt, I’d go as far as saying the LAFCA, along with the NSFC, awards foreigners/unknowns more than any other critics group. Aside from having a mostly black cast, The Help and 12 Years a Slave are two very different films so saying Lupita is in the same position as Octavia is pretty off. There is no such thing as a “booby prize” and that confuses me…reading that. To me a “booby prize” (if it exists) is given to a trophy, superficial babe, not someone raw and honest. That all said, Lupita deserves the Oscar.
In other news, and I know I’ve been a huge champion on this so stick with me, I think Her is now the most formidable contender for best original screenplay unless American Hustle really takes off. I also have much confidence in Before Midnight getting nominated for adapted screenplay. Did some digging, in the nearly 40 years since the LAFCA has been around only 3 best screenplay winners did not go on to a nomination (Return of the Secaucus 7, Drugstore Cowboy, About Schmidt). I think About Schmidt missing out was a fluke but I haven’t seen the other two so I can’t comment outside of knowing Drugstore Cowboy was a critical darling.
There is no such thing as a “booby prize” and that confuses me…reading that. To me a “booby prize” (if it exists)
The definition of “booby prize” is a joke prize given to the loser in a race.
To say that any Oscar is a booby prize is one of the most insulting things I’ve ever seen written by a so-called pundit in the past 7 years since I’ve been paying attention to awards writers.
But don’t you see? That’s what makes Octavia Spenser and Lupita Nyong’o comparable in Stephen’s eyes.. They’re both so UN-white.
Is being Nonwhite the thing that makes their Oscars booby prizes?
Where was Stephen when Tilda Swinton, Penelope Cruz and Cate Blanchett won their “booby prize” Oscars for Best Supporting Actress?
“Her” is the star of the entire awards season. It will probably win the Washington too and we will have a new frontrunner.
Lot of love for HER, which is nice. I don’t think anyone was expecting Jonze” film to be a real contender this year, but there you have it. Best director nomination looking better and better. No Greengrass in sight, no Hustle apart from NY, so there is a chance Jonze might make it. But still without Greengrass and Russell there are six men for five spots, so if Jonze is in, then the Coens, Scorsese or Payne are out. Tough choice.
Yay Adele Exarchopoulos! Very nice to see her get some recognition.
@JP I say divisive when put up against other films within the 90s in metacritic. I saw it 3 times with different types of audiences and there seems that people really love it or they have a violent upchuck response that it is being considered for Academy Awards. Obviously academy is different from people I have had discussions with but they are also different from the critics that are deciding these early awards. I hope I am wrong but that is how I see it.
<>
True, but I do see awards for Gravity, unlike August OC or Philomena, so Sandra might still have an edge nomination-wise over Meryl and Judi at this point.
Adele ties Blanchett on the same day Philomena goes home emptyhanded at BIFA…..Bai Judi!
Oh yeh cos LAFCA + BIFA = Oscar. I wonder how many awards Judi Dench won for Chocolat before she got an Oscar nomination for that?
@ The Afrofuturist
No… 97 points in Metacritic is not a characteristic of a divisive film. The Social Network was also not divisive. But it had a sentimental film (and raved by the critics) going against it. The one that would come close to 12YAS would be… Saving Mr. Banks. But it’s not winning BP. Just isn’t. 12YAS is too big to ignore. And it will be the consensus pick. In 3 days when people realize the (obvious) fact that Gravity is not up for a SAG Ensemble award, they will start to say wow.. Gravity won’t win. Most people do this all the time… a film starts not to show up at any critics award and call…”( ) is out of contention.” “( ) is now the frontrunner.” Wait… one thing is for sure to me… Gravity is not winning Best Picture. And Saving Mr. Banks doesn’t look like will have The Artist’s or The King’s Speech’s reviews although I’m sure it will get very good ones.
I’m totally Team 12 YEARS A SLAVE, but is it weird that I’m glad awards venues are spreading the wealth around (at least right now)? It definitely makes things more exciting.
Besides, once we get to January, it’ll likely be the same thing over and over. Remember how unpredictable last year seemed. . .until Argo got in the driver’s seat? (Not that I’m complaining about it winning. I loved it).
And NEBRASKA which I’m seeing to see what the fuzz is about
I’m going to somewhat backtrack from my comment a couple of weeks ago characterizing this year as weaker than presumed. I still haven’t seen:
INSIDE LLEWYN DAVIS
AMERICAN HUSTLE
HER
THE WOLF OF WALL STREET
THE GREAT BEAUTY
BLUE IS THE WARMEST COLOR
THE WIND RISES
All of which are receiving citations from supposedly credible organizations, but most importantly all from filmmakers I admire in varying degrees and for different reasons (Coens, Russell, Jonze, Scorsese, Miyasaki, Sorrentino). It could be a better year than I previously thought, certainly for American films. Peter Berg’s LONE SRUVIVOR has been getting good one-liners from those who’ve seen it. SMAUG is an improvement on JOURNEY by all accounts. Could be an interesting couple of weeks starting next Friday. Definitely a packed Christmas. CATCHING FIRE, PACIFIC RIM, OZ THE GREAT AND POWERFUL represented for big-budget smart entertainment (to be simplistic, they’re much more than that). I still can’t make sweeping statements about world cinema because I have to catch up with likes of WARMEST COLOR, GREAT BEAUTY, TOUCH OF SIN, etc. We even had a couple of movies I couldn’t understand UPSTREAM COLOR/LEVIATHAN. So much more to talk about.
If you didn’t like 12 YEARS you probably have to justify yourself especially if you’re going to smear, I mean this. You need to explain why. I have been trying and will continue.
Anything important happening between now and SAG/Golden Globes nominations?
p.s. Confession time: I have not seen TO THE WONDER. I know, embarrassing.
@Raphael,
As I remember it, he was the only thing about it that wasn’t awful.
I´m disappointed to see Gravity winning Best Picture (it´s this year´s The Descendants for me). But Franco was a big surprise for me, he is the best thing in Spring Breakers
The 7 LAFCA Best Picture winners to go on to Oscar gold ….
The Hurt Locker (2009)
Schindler’s List (1993)
Unforgiven (1992)
Amadeus (1984)
Terms of Endearment (1983)
Rocky (1976) * tie with Network
One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest (1975) * tie with Jaws
… that seems to be the mo of the LAFCA, besides Denzel what is there record for awarding AA’s in the main categories …
Since the groups inception in 1975 The Los Angeles Film Critics Association’s winner for Best Picture has gone on to receive a Best Picture nomination 33. out of 40 times (82.5%). Of those 33 since 1975 only 7 (21%) went on to win the Oscar for Best Picture. Most recently accomplished by The Hurt Locker (2009). LAFCA Best Picture winners not nominated by AMPAS
Brazil (1985)
Little Dorrit (1988)
Do the Right Thing (1989)
Leaving Las Vegas (1995)
About Schmidt (2002)
American Splender (2003)
WALL-E (2008)
What does all this mean for the Oscar chances of Her and Gravity? I’m fucked if i know!
Awesome exciting awards results so far.
12 Years / Gravity / Wolf of Wall Street / Her / American Hustle / Nebraska / Inside Llewyn Davis
…seem like the solid top 7 (and in that order). As of 12/8, those top 4 are likely to get Director nominations, I think, but the fifth could easily be the Coens or Payne instead of Russell.
I don’t think “Her” is quite comparable to “Being John Malkovich,” because Kaufman and Jonze were not well known to the movie community by that point, and it was a far gutsier thing to celebrate. Spike Jonze has cemented his greatness by now; “Her” is in a stronger place for a Picture nomination than BJM was. (Though I, sadly, haven’t seen it yet.)
Yes, Hanks and DiCaprio will duke it out for position #5. What a shame we can’t celebrate both. Gut tells me DiCaprio wins out.
Exarchopoulous is still #6, but there is a possibility she steals a spot from Streep.
Supporting Actor is a very interesting/fun race. Leto is the frontrunner, and Fassbender seems a likely inclusion, and then there’s Hanks, Abdi, and Forte–but do we include Franco and the late great Gandolfini as serious contenders? What about Jonah Hill? Up in the air.
Supporting Actress has an interesting competition emerging between Nyong’o, Lawrence, and Squibb, with the first two probably stronger. Also, Octavia Spencer should be nominated.
Adele ties Blanchett on the same day Philomena goes home emptyhanded at BIFA…..Bai Judi!
@JP lol its true because there will be a constant push forward to the backlash. But I think ultimately Lupita will be its sole win. It’s too divisive a picture.
@bd74
But which film is gonna beat it? Not even backlash will work against 12YAS.
@stephen holt, that seems to be the mo of the LAFCA, besides Denzel what is there record for awarding AA’s in the main categories but maybe moot point since there not really ever that many AAs that lead in the main categories year-to-year at the time the LAFCA presents there awards. Happy for Lupita tho 12 years is one of my favorites this year.
Have not seen Her but even though Gravity was not very good imo, I can’t begrudge it the technica and director wins, it is an achievement. I mostly like these critics awards because we get a window into the regional taste of the critics. I don’t think there is much to extrapolate as far as front-runner and losing team, especially because a lot of these races were reportedly pretty tight. The only sure thing seems to be cate blanchett, happy because she is one of my favorite actresses (still pissed about her not winning for Elizabeth:(()
Congratulations to Lupita for pulling out a win here! No Fassbender love ANYwhere in all these precursors. But I’d bet Lupita is now in the similar or same position as Octavia Spenser was for “The Help” two years ago. Big successful A.A. movie and they HAVE to give it something and Best Supporting Actress is the place where they seem happy to give it. IOW, the Booby Prize.
I feel awful for “12 Years a Slave”. Just awful. But happy for Lupita.
Stephen your comments are becoming increasingly simpleminded and shallow. “IOW the booby prize”? Do you realize you sound like some fusty out-of-touch Boca Raton retiree in orange plaid golf pants? Do you not see the awards 12 Years is winning for Best Actor, Director and Picture? It’s consistently performing as well as any film in sight. Thank god any Oscars voters with your blinkered mindset only represent a 15% fraction of Academy membership. Booby prize my ass.
Saw 12 Years A Slave! What an amazing and devastating movie experience. And the thrilling boat scene with that shot of the body floating away as the boat continued, with Hans Zimmers intense score pounding was just pure brilliance!
@John
Here are your best pic noms with * by best director noms
*12 YAS
*Gravity
American Hustle
*Wolf of Wall Street
*Her
Saving Mr. Banks
*Inside Llewyn Davis
Nebraska
I’m just glad that “12 Years a Slave” isn’t sweeping these early awards. On top of not understanding the adoration for it, I just prefer to see accolades being spread out. There is usually more than one great film in any given year.
The critics who voted for James Franco in Spring Breakers have never, ever met anyone even remotely like the character he’s supposed to be playing, nor will they ever.
Two consecutive years now, LAFCA have given Best Actress to two women: one the legendary vet giving the performance of a lifetime in a landmark film, the other the one who set their cocks on end. Not that Adele Exarchopoulos isn’t magnificent in Blue Is the Warmest Colour, because she obvs is.
James Franco is this year’s Matthew McConaughey in Magic Mike.
Best Actor continues to be the category to watch for the purposes of narrowing down. I feel more confident predicting Dern; sounds like a career-best role for him, so too hard to ignore. I don’t believe either Redford or McConaughey are missing. I have a hard time seeing either one get ignored given his backstory. And I think Bale is out this year. That would mean Hanks vs. Leo, and it could go either way if Leo is really as great as they’re saying. Captain Phillips is this year’s Flight, but better. Yet Hanks has two chances. He would be an easy one to drop for political reasons.
Very bizarre that the best film of the year, 12 YEARS A SLAVE continues to fall behind other films from the major critical fraternities.
Yet I still think its a cinch to win the Oscar for Best Picture.
2013 may be the year where the Oscar choice is far more meaningful than what the critics are favoring. That’s aside from the years where Oscar and the critics agree, as was the case with THE ARTIST.
they have been cleansed and duly forgiven for that THE DESCENDANTS fart from the year before
They didn’t need cleansing for awarding a wonderful movie like The Descendants.
I still don’t know about Her (as people have said above). What happened to Being John Malkovich? It’s not easy. Though, I have not seen the movie. But it could be the one that critics love left and right, but Academy finds no room for it.
Heres what Im thinking. I assume that there will only be 8-9 Best Picture noms for the Oscars. We know that there are a ton of worthy potential nominees with passion votes. But how many will have that requisite number for a nod??
We know 12YAS will likely be nommed.
Ditto Gravity.
Then …
Captain Phillips seemed like a sure thing til recently.
Saving Mr. Banks seems likely.
American Hustle seems likely.
Wolf of Wall Street looks stronger every day.
Her has critics, buzz, and passion.
Inside Llewyn Davis has critics, buzz, and passion.
Nebraska feels like a BP nominee (Payne, Dern, crowdpleaser).
The Butler has box office, actors, and Harvey.
August Osage will have box office, the actors, and Harvey.
Philomena has Harvey and a big campaign.
Blue Jasmine feels like a feasible nom right now, passion votes (Cate, Woody, screenplay, Hawkins, costumes?)
Dallas Buyers Club could ride the wave.
Rush, never ever underestimate a Ron Howard film.
Prisoners has champions. I could go on and on.
I just named 16. Im sure only 8-9 of those will make it. Thats CRAZY to me because nearly all have “heat” for a nom, great reviews or not.
Congrats to all the winners.
Love Gravity’s Cinematography. So, hands down.
Have yet to see Davis. That said, even those trailers alone look visually nice, not to mention Coen Bros’ film; so, I can imagine the runner-up result.
Just wondering how Hustle, Wolf, and Jasmine in particular have really done specifically in each category in terms of ranking. Especially Wolf and Hustle. . . .
(By the way, when I said, “Looks like Hustle’s got no chance for BP though. [duh xD]”, my remark was being directed to what I believed to be the final result for this event only.)
It still has a long way to go JP. It’s not an easy sell whatsoever. I still think it’s the one to beat but I think by January it’s gonna be in serious question with other movies.
@JP, you are wrong. Social Network suffered because King’s Speech had Weinstein and was a colossal box office smash. ZDT suffered because of political/government controversy. The mere fact of winning critics’ awards in and of itself did not serve to undermine them.
I feel like Her is gonna be that critical darling that won’t factor into the considerably less cool guild awards. Might knock some other contenders out of a BP slot though, definite contender for best original screenplay. Have to wait til next month to see it, though
If 12 Years a Slave was the frontrunner, it’s even more the frontrunner right now. Had it swept all the critics awards, it could suffer the Social Network-Zero Dark Tirty syndrome.
But the Weinstein Company is in trouble as they’ve never been in the past couple of years. Her is becoming number 9. And if there are only 9… No Osage County and no The Butler. Guilds and Globes will have to come for the rescue.
I still prefer NYFCC’s choices. They are more genuine about their choices. Not pretentious.
Yup, pretty much
https://twitter.com/GlennWhipp/statuses/409815652543655937
Her just went from “um…not sure about this one”, to “okay, now I’m excited!!”
I so far give two movies 5 stars:
12 Years a Slave
Gravity
I wonder what others I might give?
Her?
Inside Llewyn Davis?
The Wolf of Wall Street?
Not to mention Alfonso Cuaron getting Best Editing and Emmanuel Lubezki for Best Cinematography.
I have not seen HER, but I’m bound to love it if I go be the record (Spike Jonze)
Now, LAFCA has awarded the unquestionable Best Picture of the year two years in a row:
AMOUR in 2012 and GRAVITY in 2013 therefore they have been cleansed and duly forgiven for that THE DESCENDANTS fart from the year before. Truly well done.
James Franco, ERNEST & CELESTINE, BEFORE MIDNIGHT, Alfonso Cuaron, GRAVITY. This is officially the best set of winners presented to us by a critics group in 2013…so far
I think that 12YAS has an uphill path to the Oscar considering that The Social Network and Zero Dark Thirty (both better films than the british one) ruled the critics awards and went to lose the Oscar for Best Picture.
All this love for Her but no love for Joaquin? How strange. And it looks like the 12YAS train got derailed. 3 major awarding bodies have declared their winners, and it didn’t win Best Film at any of them.
What’s the point in “runner up”?
In case naked pictures surface of the Best Picture winner, the runner-up will take over its reign. Duh!
Woooow… a tie! I really really hope that Her and Gravity get love in Oscars next year. Gravity is still in my top 3 of the year, and Her, as any other Jonze film, looks amazing.
GRAVITY AND HER
All these ties. Congrats to those involved. I didn’t like GRAVITY and haven’t seen HER. But I’m sure people worked hard on both. 🙂
Gravity and Her tie !!!!
This is gonna be a long Oscar season, folks
What’s the point in “runner up”?
Go Gravity
Cate the Great won 3 out of 3 today…I think she is the the only one….
Not sure how much of an impact these awards make anymore. I’m 40 years old, growing up I can always remember the winner of The LAFCA for Best Director and Best Actor were almost locks for an Oscar nom. Now with the AMPAS voting schedule change last year, don’t know if any of this matters anymore. I remember this time last year commenting on how Paul Thomas Anderson (The Master) was assured a Best Director nod because no LAFCA Best Director since 1988 & 1989 (cronenberg and Spike Lee) hadn’t been. That pretty much wen’t down the toilet on nominations morning along with Affleck and Bigelows nominations. Expect more surprises this year.
They went with the intellectual choices for Best Actress.
You mean instead of the dumb ones? lol j/k
Hmm funny I don’t see SANDRA BULLOCK’s name mentioned in all of these critic awards??? 🙂
They went with the intellectual choices for Best Actress. Hard not to award Blanchett. I would, any other year.
[BP to be announced]
“I think in the olden times when men on horses took real election ballots to the state capitol to be counted it was faster than this.”
LOL with Antoinette. xD
—
And congrats to Cate Blanchett (and Adele Exarchopoulos)!
CATE BLANCHETT FOR QUEEN OF THE UNIVERSE!!!
*weeps*
They love Payne, so it was inevitable that Nebraska was going to get some awards here.
I wouldn’t count Hanks out, has he ever missed an Oscar nomination? He represents what Hollywood wants to believe it is. I think McConaughey may be vulnerable.
I think in the olden times when men on horses took real election ballots to the state capitol to be counted it was faster than this.
I saw Captain Phillips just yesterday, and I’m getting worried that Hanks won’t get a nomination as BA after that amazing and beautiful performance. That last scene of the film just screams awards and acknowledgment. Just brilliant acting in that one.
Bryce: I wasn’t expecting Nebraska love, but with Dern they just show that it’s one of their favourites. I keep believing Gravity is the one anyway.
[Best Picture, and Best Actress to be announced]
—
Wow! Bruce Dern (for Best Actor). . . . Interesting.
All in all it seems like, following these pro critics’ announcements, there exist no more the ones to beat. Most sights unseen notwithstanding, I guess it should be a good thing this year since it looks like we’ve got good/great films galore to enjoy.
(Looks like Hustle’s got no chance for BP though. [duh xD])
I love that the Best Supporting Actor was a tie between James Franco in Spring Breakers and Jared Leto in Dallas Buyers Club because I equally love both performances. This is the highlight of awards season for me so far. As a voting critic, I would give the edge to Franco.
LOL The only critical darling this season is THE WIND RISES
it just won NYFCO
Redford + Dern **
Bruce + Dern
Are they both in a stronger position than Tom Hanks at this point? Truly have no idea. But it certainly seems unlikely that Hanks will get 2 nominations on a year like this. Is Leo vs. Hanks for that 5th spot?
There go the goddamn brownies! 😀
Yay for Bruce Dern!!!
Have people seen Her? I mean normal folks here.
Interesting to see “Wolf” getting shut out unless there a radical change in the last few categories.
Interesting, no love anywhere for Fassy, despite the 12 Years acclaim around.
I think the rest will go like this…
director: alfonso cuaron, gravity
picture: her
actor: bruce dern, nebraska
actress: paulina garcia, gloria
screenplay: asghar farhadi, the past
How extremely underwhelming this has been. Safe/boring choices. To think that I initially expected them to shake things up a bit with some left-field choices.
Cuaron! Yes!
Yay Cuaron!
Gotta love LAFCs. They stir things up every year, it seems. Anxiously awaiting their Best Picture prize. I think we’ll be surprised.
I remember when they awarded Brazil (1985) Best Picture. My respect for them grew exponentially when that happened. It’s one of my favorite films.
Leocdc,
My opinion, HER and NEBRASKA will be winner and runner-up. Don’t know exactly which will be which though. They really like HER.
Aragorn,
That was last week, this time Sasha is…somewhat upset…that Franco got a mention instead of Fassbender (12 YEARS). Hey I love the passion even when I disagree. Franco is best far away
For BP I have to say Gravity or Her (one winner, one runner-up).
Lupita won..So LAFCA must have no “white power:….
And a NGNG runner-up: Mud
Before they announce Best Film,
my prediction is: Her
NSFC, your move to recognize Franco!
Couldn’t they find one more vote for Franco?! Someone!
Holy shit, James Franco. Go you. Maybe I should watch that movie now, lol.
Look at my shit!!!!
Franco! Didn’t see that coming. He was great.
Lol at supp. actress:
Boston – 1. June 2. Lupita
Los Angeles – 1. Lupita 2. June
Leto Franco tie
Where’s screenplay?
bd74, they picked the presumed Oscar frontrunner for cinematography and editing, not to mention the arguable frontrunner for supporting actress! Not exactly reactionary choices…
Seems like they just wanna reward whatever didn’t win at NYFCC and NBR.
So proud to see Her getting some Production Design recognition. The costuming/PD work on that film may well have stolen the film for me.
