Our first No Guts, No Glory of the season for the SAG nominations. You can pick three. The winners will get prizes but only if you predict upsets. Anything that was a generally predicted contender doesn’t count.
My choice:
Out of the Furnace for ensemble.
Brie Larson for actress.

Gravity for Ensemble
Sarah Paulson for Supporting Actress
Julia Roberts in Lead
Michael C. Jordan
No Robert Redford
@ phantom….smiling at your Elizabeth Banks NGNG pick. I would so much enjoy seeing her and her character throughout the awards season. She should host awards shows with Tucci at least.
@ Ryan… Rome, Georgia?
hell, Bob, there’s a Rome, KY just 6 miles from where I was born. I swear on a stack of bibles.

None of these things would happen, because SAG is one of the most conservative, predictable and boring things in the whole award season.
THIS! And it’s even worse on the tv side. If they nominate f—ing Betty White again for comedy actress….just no. I hope they don’t embarrass themselves like last year’s nom for the Marigold Hotel ensemble over Zero Dark Thirty, a cast without big stars (god forbid).
Sandra Bullock not nominated for Gravity
August: Osage County gets most nominations
Jennifer Lawrence nominated for Catching Fire
Felicity Jones (The Invisible Woman)
Leonardo DiCaprio (The Great Gatsby)
Elizabeth Banks (The Hunger Games : Catching Fire)
Benedict Cumberbatch (12 Years a Slave or August : Osage County)
+1 Wildest of Wild Cards : Julianne Moore (Carrie)
P.S. I predicted Hugh Jackman and Sarah Paulson.
According to a SAG member on the Gold-derby forums, even though Wolf of Wall Street didn’t send screeners to the Nominating Committee members, it had not one but several very successful SAG screenings.
Django had only 1 screening two days before the vote last year.
He goes on to say that he attended one and several of his friends who were on that committee attended subsequent screenings as well. The responses were always through the roof and very ecstatic. He suspects both Wolf and Leo to be in but who knows?
He also stated that he went to one of the several American Hustle screening as well but the response was much more tepid than the one for Wolf except for JLaw (but that may have changed on the subsequent screenings)
Based on that, if that’s even a reliable info I really hope to hear Leo’s name and TWOWS today. Not a lot of people are predicting it which might be the sweet surprise that will make my day! :-))
James Franco, Best Supporting Actor, Spring Breakers
Bobby Cannavale, Best Supporting Actor, Blue Jasmine
Jacki Weaver, Best Supporting Actress, Parkland
Ryan,
I feel so old these days that my idea of a party in Rome is being alone in the Borghese Gallery gazing at Bernini’s “Apollo and Daphne” while eating a pint of dark chocolate gelato. Maybe “Casta Diva” could be piped in, so my ears don’t feel neglected.
My NGNG:
Best Ensemble: Prisoners
Best Actor: Hugh Jackman
My NGNG picks!!
Best Actor: Joaquin Phoenix
Best Supporting Actress: Scarlett Johansson
Best Ensemble: Her
You never know. We conservatives have been known to get our freak on after dark. The real haunting buzzkill: the parties are in Kentucky, not Rome.
Seriously. Although no matter where I am I’ve worked out ways to party that can make Rome gasp.
“All Is Lost” for Ensemble would be funny as hell.
I don’t think I’ve ever done a NGNG before; hmm….
Ensemble: Inside Llewyn Davis
Actor: Steve Coogan (Philomena)
S. Actor: Chris Cooper (August Osage County)
—
OT: Ryan, I did go see “The Great Beauty” yesterday. I won’t be haunting you, but I don’t think I’ll be watching it 15 more times either. Once more on video, sure. It was much better than the last Italian film to get this much buzz, “Gomorrah.”
I won’t be haunting you, but I don’t think I’ll be watching it 15 more times either.
I wasn’t really worried that you’d haunt me if you hated the movie, Tony, because after haunting me a day or two you’d start to hate following me around to parties like the ones in the movie.
NGNG
No Oprah in Supp Actress
Matthew McConaughey as Supp for The Wolf of Wall Street
Brie Larson Best actress Short Term 12
They can’t nominated french youngsters like Adele or Lea. Even Emanuelle had problems with this.
Andrey <3

I think there’s no bigger NGNG than Gravity for Best Ensemble.
Actress: Bérénice Bejo (“The Past”)
Actor: Joaquin Phoenix (“Her”)
Supporting Actress: Kristin Scott Thomas (“Only God Forgives”)
Supporting Actor: Jeremy Renner (“American Hustle”)
It’s too late for me now, and under no circumstances will this happen anyway, BUT for fun, may I suggest:
Nicole Kidman (Stoker) for Supporting Actress
Matthew McConaughey for lead in DBC and Supporting for Mud
Oprah for The Butler
The Butler for ensemble.
No Robert Redford

Melissa McCarthy for Best Actress
Hugh Jackman for Best Actor
Harrison Ford for Best Supporting Actor (is that NGNG enough?)
NGNG – Ensemble: Saving Mr. Banks – Actor: Paul Walker – Supporting Actress: Sally Hawkins
I don’t really see Phoenix for Best Actor as a NGNG. I think that will actually happen given his great success with nominations thus far. I’ve also predicted that they’ll go with Johansson for Supporting Actress, but it’s a far riskier guess, so it could certainly be my NGNG. Also Sam Rockwell for The Way, Way Back (though I think he actually has a pretty good chance too).
My NGNG predictions for SAG:
