“THE BOXTROLLS” (Focus Features) – Nominee, Best Animated Feature Film- Golden Globes
“I’d like to express my delight and appreciation to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for its nomination of THE BOXTROLLS for this year’s Golden Globe Award nomination for Best Animated Film. There are so many great animated films this year! The medium is branching out and growing in wonderful ways, and we’re happy to be part of it. It is both gratifying and humbling to be included in such a talented group of nominees.
This nomination recognizes the efforts of a crew of over 300 women and men at LAIKA who worked for years on the picture, each expressing their unique talent and love for the medium of animation through their sacrifice and tireless work. Guided by our masterly directors, they have painstakingly hand-crafted the most complex stop-motion feature film ever, and it was an honor to work alongside them on this adventure. So many outside the studio also contributed immeasurably to THE BOXTROLLS. Our electrifying cast, superb composer, and the rest of THE BOXTROLLS family created a world of image and sound out of what often seemed like thin air.” – David Bleiman Ichioka, Golden Globe Award nominee as producer of THE BOXTROLLS, Best Animated Feature Film Nominee

I’m thankful to Alejandro Gonzales Iñarritu for the opportunity to work on this masterful film, and everyone that was involved in the process of helping it come to fruition. I am nothing but grateful to have had the opportunity to dive into a role like this. All thanks really go to David Fincher for his guidance and for allowing me to play Gillian Flynn’s incredible, confounding character. I’m very honored to be nominated alongside actresses I have long admired. Thank you so much to the Hollywood Foreign Press Association for this nomination!”
Angelina Jolie will hopefully be giving her reaction, as MALEFICENT, and at the Globes. Maleficent aka Angelina will storm into the Golden Globes Party and cast her curse upon the Miss Golden Globe. Her words? Watch Maleficent. Accompanied by Brad the mythological beast.
I just think everyone should be aware that none of these people actually come up with these reactions. They are written by a publicist.
Jennifer, I simply found the definition a bit weird. I agree that his life and works should finally get some recognition and this film, albeit flawed, at least serves the purpose.
Robert, Alan Turing’s life story WAS a little known story until a few years ago when Andrew Hodges wrote Turing’s biography which revealed that he is the one, together with a team of codebreakers, that cracked the Enigma code that enabled the Germans to win the war. The reason his story was little know, until now, is because the British Government forced the codebreakers working at Bletchley Park to keeps silent for many decades. And even after they were allowed to speak about it, they didn’t. What is being uncovered now is through the work of historians riffling through former secret documents of war-time activities at Bletchley Park.
I am very grateful to Graham Moore, Morten Tyldum, Benedict Cumberbatch, Keira Knightley, the producers and distributors of the movie, for bringing so much attention to the life of Alan Turing and the codebreakers, who basically enabled the Allies to win the war. Their contribution was huge and it has been completely overlooked until now. This movie will bring the interest to this great man Alan Turing (and Joan Clarke – who was facing her own hardships). The movie is terrific and the performances even better. The Imitation Game deserves all the accolades it’s getting and more!
but a movie called ‘Pride’ gets in? WTF?
This movie called PRIDE was a critical success and has already earned multiple award nomination in England. It’s US gross is actually quite respectable for a British import with no big stars in the cast.
You should try and do some quick research before showing off your own ignorance.
Plus, are Interstellar and Hunger Game C-O-M-E-D-I-E-S? No. PRIDE is. You analogy is so off-base it’s funny.
I want The Theory of Everything to do very well at the GGs, it will just make things easier for it at the BAFTAs and then Oscar. I love that film.
Does The Imitation Game screenwriter really believe Alan Turing’s life is “little-known story”?
KBacon,
I use the word snub if I feel like it!!
SNUB SNUB SNUB SNUB
Who are you to tell the world when we should or should not use that world?
SNUB SNUB SNUB SNUB
I’m totally snubbing you from now on.
SNUB SNUB SNUB SNUB
Not that I cared before anyway.
SNUB SNUB SNUB SNUB
Look at this chart: http://www.boxofficeguru.com/ggnods2015.htm . Lots of 0.0’s and lots of movies that haven’t made a dent of a dent in the moviegoing public’s radar. No Interstellar or Mockingjay is absolutely inexcusible, but a movie called ‘Pride’ gets in? WTF?
Lots of 0.0’s
um. it’s hard for a movie to make much money 3 weeks before it opens.
Don’t worry, The Midtown Rider, if you want see movies win awards for being on the public’s radar, The People’s Choice Awards are coming up on Jan 7th.
Speaking of making money. MONEY is the PRIZE for movies like Mockingjay. So Mockingjay already won. The prize Mockingjay won is a huge stack of cash. And trust me, that money is more important to the people who made Mockingjay that any gold-planted ornament.
Happens every year—for a two-month period everyone forgets the definition of the word “snub.”
The “Big Eyes” song sucks! So they snubbed Lana Del Rey last year for the outstanding “Yound and Beautiful” but they nominate her for this? Feels like they’re always trying to make up for their previous mistakes like Quvenzhane Wallis getting in for Annie to make up for the Beasts snub two years ago, or snubbing Angelina Jolie and her film to prove they don’t suck up to her after they nominated her for The crappy Tourist.
