Cate Blanchett will be the first of the big Oscar contenders honored during the Santra Barbara Film Fest, it was just announced. Blanchett will be celebrated for her work in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine, one of the year’s best performances by man or woman. Blanchett’s long career has only been rewarded with a Supporting Actress nod for The Aviator. The SBIFF honored Jennifer Lawrence last year, who then went on to win. The Fest Director, Roger Durling has a knack for selecting contenders who either win or get very close, so it is always with great interest that we cover and follow the Santa Barbara Film Fest.

She will be honored with a Tribute celebrating her compelling performance in Woody Allen’s Blue Jasmine at the 29th edition of the Festival, which runs January 30 – February 9, 2014, it was announced today by SBIFF Executive Director Roger Durling.
