I love.
Sasha Stone has been around the Oscar scene since 1999. Almost everything on this website is her fault.

This is not about Tilda, this is about the most innovative artist of the music world (post-Beatles) making a splendid return after a 10-year absence…
I cannot wait to hear The Next Day. This song bodes more than well.
For me, Tilda ‘phoned’ in her Oscar winning role in MC. Her work in that film is the most conventional in her career. She takes on brave and difficult roles. ‘Julia’ was a tour de force – she just swept through that movie like a tornado. Best performance that year. ‘I am love’ was another great role, and ‘Kevin’ which i didn’t overly like, but she is always fascinating to watch, even in the smaller roles (Benj Button, Burn After reading).
One of the most distinctive and original talents to emerge from the 1990’s and beyond.
Since the Derek Jarman’s 80s, Tilda is unbelievably unique.
She’s still hard on the eyes.
Thanks for this! Haven’t we all dreamt of this collaboration!!
And @SallyinChicago…. If Tilda would have retired after the Oscar win, she would still have a hell of a career. I doubt that even Tilda Swinton would consider winning her Oscar the pinnacle. Watch a Derek Jarman movie, watch Orlando, Love is the Devil, The War Zone, even the very flawed The Deep End. You gonna get a rainstorm of angry gays with that comment! Very hard on the eyes?!?!!? You need a new pair.
Apologies. For anyone with the Netflix, you should check out Tim Roth’s THE WAR ZONE.
“Add Tilda Swinton to the list of female winners who hasn’t done much with her winning.”
LMAO What a sad ignorant [deleted — no, no, Bryce — Ryan]
JULIA
I AM LOVE
WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN
3 Titanic performances right there
Yo!
In retrospect I’m selfishly happy she didn’t get nominated last year for WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN because I would have had to trash THE IRON LADY and THE HELP so much I would have been banned from this site. Same goes for Fassy in SHAME.
Sally – Tilda had worked on 12 films and 2 shorts since Michael Clayton in 2007, most recently with Wes Anderson, Jim Jarmusch, and Terry Gilliam. That’s an awful lot of nothing.
I’m surprised they’ve never worked together before this; they seem to have very similar artistic sensibilities, and it shows here.
@Sally: I don’t think Swinton’s career has been bad since winning; she’s veered away from the mainstream and done the films she’s wanted to do. Sure, not all of them have worked – I disliked WE NEED TO TALK ABOUT KEVIN, though she was terrific – but somehow, I don’t think she’s going to end up in the “Where Are They Now?” files anytime soon. Plus, if anything, much as I loved her in MICHAEL CLAYTON, her performance in JULIA was even better.
@MattAwards — Add Tilda Swinton to the list of female winners who hasn’t done much with her winning.
“Add Tilda Swinton to the list of female winners who hasn’t done much with her winning.”
You mean like CASH IN her oscar for $$$, like Helen Mirren has done with pile after pile of shit?
I don’t understand this mentality “hasn’t done much with her Oscar”… I truly have nightmares thinking about the rude things Diablo Cody has probably done with her Oscar.
Since Michael Clayton Tilda Swinton has made a half dozen of my favorite films of the past half dozen years. Julia, Moonrise Kingdom, We Need to Talk About Kevin, I Am Love, The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, Burn After Reading
What is somebody supposed to “Do” with an Oscar? What’s the best thing anybody has ever done with an Oscar? What do you think Tarantno is going to do with his new one?
I dunno…it’s just meh to me. And Tilda is VERY HARD ON THE EYES.
Biggest snub last year: Tilda Swinton in We Need to Talk About Kevin!
Aces!!!
Gods on display. Loved it!
Two HUGE passions!
Better than the entirety of the Oscar telecast. And some of the nominees. But then again, I am a huge Bowie fan. Could not be more excited for this album.
