I don’t have a problem with Michael Bay borrowing a couple shots from his 2005 film The Island to fill in a gap or two in Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon. He could replace every scene featuring Shia LaBeouf with close-ups of Ewan McGregor for all I care. Not posting this duplicate footage as evidence of anything important. I’m more impressed that anyone would notice. Respect to the guy with an eye sharp enough to spot these shots and the skills to put this comparison together.
Tero, if you disliked the first one, why would you see the second? And then the third?
Since Anderson Cooper is busy, we will have to put Wolf Blitzer on this assignment.

Directors have been stealing from themselves for decades.
Hell, artists of all types steal from themselves.
I agree with Ryan, how this guy noticed it is pretty amazing. Or should I say, disturbing. How many times would he have had to have seen The Island for those generic roadsides to register in his brain? That’s the question I want answered. Maybe we could sic Anderson Cooper on this.

I saw Transformers 3. It was better than the last two. Ok… it was the only good one so far.

@ Ryan
I believe I saw this story reported on CNN… That’s what I meant by this being “news.” I guess I could have been more clear about that. Apologies. I didn’t mean to insinuate that the content of this blog is beneath me. I’ve been following it for about a decade… so that’s not the case. I can assure you.

Congrats to the nerds to noticed this – that was totally pointless. The shots were’t even similar. Thanks for wasting our ti e with exaggerations once again AD.

If Transformers 3: title of bad B movie was the quality of The Island we would have something which at least it was worth talking about.

Transformers 3 paralysed my brain.
But jokes aside, that’s awful news about that extra Ryan. 🙁

reusing background plates seems like a reasonable money saver.

wow, I did not find one thing in either of those comparisons to be believeable filmmaking. Do they not realize that hundreds if not thousands of people would probably get killed in those collisions.
Drew, very true. Not to be Debbie Downer — but since I’m bumming people out by posting this, why not? The buzz surrounding this clip claims that there were gaps in the continuity because shooting was disrupted when one of the extras on Transformers 3 was accidentally struck by a car during one of these stunts. And she’s paralyzed down one side of her body now. So, there’s something to give a shit about.

Don’t get me wrong. I hate Michael Bay movies as much as the next girl, but who gives a shit? I mean seriously. To me this is like speculating about the origins of a few identical kernels of corn in two different piles of crap. I can’t believe this is even news.
it’s not news, Sophie. Neither are posters and trailers news. Neither are polls and lists news. It’s just something I ran across and thought it might be a curious diversion for a few people.
Sorry to waste your time, ok? I know you must be super-busy this morning going from site to site giving your thumbs down to everything on the internet that you’re not interested in.
😉
