I can remember watching Schindler’s List in middle school and high school. That had an impact on me and I don’t have to see that movie again to remember how it affected me when we studied that time period. I hope that schools will show this movie as well. I don’t think there is a better way of explaining or showing that part of America’s history and how brutal it must have been. It’s importance and ability to be something so much more than just a “movie” is why I think it should win Best Picture. It is rare for movies to do that and I will remember this movie far longer than any other movie this year.

12YAS has a slow-cooker type campaign going on. Steve and Michael Fassbender will have a Q&A at Curzon Soho Monday night – it’s already sold out. I believe they have the BAFTAs wrapped-up, but they need to keep up the campaign for Oscar big time.

I loved the moment when the descendants of Solomon Northup started speaking. Truly touching.
