Looks like Julianne Moore could be in line for a Best Actress nod here – that is, if voters can handle Mr. Cronenberg, which they usually can’t.

Manuel – No, you’re not the only one. I’m totally looking forward to watching Olivia Williams’ performance in this movie. She hasn’t had a decent role since “The Ghost Writer” – a shame really. She’s one of the best actresses around.
And what a cast! John Cusack, Julianne Moore, Mia Waskikowska and Olivia Williams. I can’t wait to see this movie.
Somebody mentioned a modern twist on “Day of the Locust”. It could be a really breakthrough movie for all involved.
I’m curious how is will be received at Cannes.
I loved! Julianne Moore, Olivia Wiliams and Mia may get nominations for it, we’ll see, but I’m excited!
Am I the only one most excited about Olivia Williams in this trailer? She is the perfect Cronenberg muse to me! Julianne Moore is on fire and Mia looks mesmerizing. I got chills chills chills. Yeah bring it on baby!
Silly to predict a nomination from a trailer, but love JM so hoping in this case it results in her nomination, but think it is a long shot.
A bit unusual in that when you think of all the truly great, award-worthy lead performances in Cronenberg films, they’re all men: Woods, Walken, Goldblum, Irons, Mortensen.
The most stand-out female performances were all supporting (Bujold, Davis, Richardson) and even then, chillingly effective without being a bravura slam-dunk. But I’m dying to see what collaborating with DC will yield from Moore. Can’t wait!
Go, Julianne! Get that Oscar that has eluded you for so many years. I think this will be her year.
Looks like Cronenberg’s return to form. Great to see Moore and Wasikowska back together again. And Pattinson seems like he might be finding a nice niche that does not involve him glittering.
honestly, i can’t wait. the whole mood, location, debauchery, etc., made me think, modern DAY OF THE LOCUST.
Looks promising, what I can’t figure out is who is the lead ? Julianne Moore has top billing and the trailer focuses on her character but I think that could be misleading, Wasikowska’s character seems to be the one linked to everyone and (just a guess) the one who will probably off everyone but her little brother in the end.
By the way SO great to see Julianne Moore doing so spectacularly well again ! Between this daring prestige pic, some serious recent indie cred (What Maisie Knew, Don Jon), the uberbaity lead roles (Still Alice, Freeheld), decent enough studio films (Crazy Stupid Love, Carrie, Non-stop), an instant classic of an awards magnet TV perormance (Game Change) and THE biggest exposure of her career (Mockingjay), I have a feeling she WILL win Best Actress in the near future. Wild guess ? Warms up with a nomination for Still Alice this season and then goes for gold next season with Freeheld…you heard it here first ! 🙂
Isn’t it the same shot of Pattinson fucking someone from behind in a limo? Just switch Binoche for Moore. Looks like either Moore or Wasikowska could have a chance if the critics love it (big if), and they campaign in Supporting. Just like COSMOPOLIS though, seems like eOne are -again- overexposing the film when not even the competition line-up has been announced. I liked this trailer as well, but not sold on Cusack yet even though it looks like a smaller role. He earned some cred with what he did in LEE DANIEL’S THE PAPERBOY so I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt.
I get a major Cronenberg vibe off of this, actually. And that always interests me, even if I thought Cosmopolis was a bit shit.
I felt it was generic, couldn’t feel on the Cronenberg touch. I know, it’s too early but after Dangerous Method (I haven’t watched Cosmopolis)it kind freaks me out a little bit
