The year in film was already marked by Alfred Hitchcock as Vertigo at last topped Citizen Kane in the Sight…
The producers of Bates Motel should snap this up to film the show on site!
This comment will make me sound really young, even though, I’m 31, which is not that young, but… I am surprised that the house is even STILL standing. They filmed the movie in 1959 and 1960. I mean, that’s only 55 years ago.
Although, I wonder if the replica of the Titanic is still standing? (The one where they filmed the movie in Mexico).
Crap, I also meant to say, that, yes!! Everyone should go and sign that petition. This house is a historical treasure. FUCK tearing it down. They should keep it. Alfred Hitchcock is one of the all-time greats, and so is Psycho!
The house is not a full-scale model. I don’t think it can be used much to generate income, either as part of a set piece or for tours. This is probably why it’s on the chopping block. I don’t feel strongly enough to sign the petition.
I saw this house during a tour of Universal Studios in the 70s, back when they gave you a tour of an actual working studio.
They also had the Munsters house, the house from Marcus Welby MD, and a set from Hogans Heroes just to name a few.
It would be a shame if they tear it down. It should be left for movie fans for years to come.
