Kate Winslet and Chiwetel Ejiofor have signed on for John Hillcoat’s Triple Nine. They’ll join Michael B. Jordan, Aaron Paul, Teresa Palmer, Michael Pena and soon-to-be Wonder Woman, Gal Gadot.
Triple Nine will be released in 2015 and involves “a group of crooked L.A. police officers who realize they must shoot one of their own in order to get away with planning a major heist. They choose as their victim a rookie and honorable young officer, but what they don’t know is that another cop has infiltrated the gang, and is working on a setup.”
This sounds really promising. Great cast and director, and interesting premise. Could be really great.
Hillcoat has never made a bad film over a good quarter century. Who is doing the screenplay? As much as I love Nick Cave, would like him to branch out a little more.
Very cool images ilustrated this post. Wonderful smiles from both these two gifted artists.
This new film sounds like it could be nerve jangling like ‘Assault on Precinct 13’.
‘Lawless’ suffered from the burden of huge expectations. I enjoyed it more than most people though it is not as great as ‘The Proposition’.
Ejiofor could be a star waiting to happen – I’m just not sure he wants to go down that road.

Thanks. I will.
I’ve seen Kate in mainstream flicks, as well. However, for some reason I always have this kind of notion for what it’s worth that if she’d like, Kate should mainly focus more regularly upon good (reading: quality) drama films because it seems to me that somehow, perhaps due to her choice of projects, the directors in question, etc., it did work well for her career from a quality perspective, in my opinion.
Anyway, this mainstream film in her case aside, I’ll be waiting for the DVD for rent (nothing to imply here [2015/2016]).
As for the 12 Years actor, I didn’t get to see his performances too often. But he was all right in Children of Men (the film: B-), and Serenity (C or C-), for instance.)

Chiwetel Ejiofor is getting a lot of work….go back through his filmography and you’ll see he’s been in a lot of good movies. I esp. remember him in a small role in 4 Brothers….and in Kinky Boots, he stole the movie.
Bryce – I think casting Oscar-winner K”A+”E Winslet (Titanic,The Holiday) is a good sign. Though they may be thieves(?) in the film, I doubt many people will be able to accuse this cast of “stealing” the many accolades and awards they earn from this project!

Let’s hope this is a rebound for Hillcoat, his trend in quality looks alarmingly Luhrmannesque, granted not quite as steep
THE PROPOSITION (A-)
THE ROAD (B+)
LAWLESS (C+)
Wow, solid cast, this sounds really promising. Colour me interested!
