Or I guess you could say Reese Witherspoon and Ben Stiller working together. To me, the teaming of Rudin and Crowe is the more interesting.
According to Variety, producer Scott Rudin and Cameron Crowe are teaming up for plot-details-under-wraps romantic comedy :
Project reunites Crowe with Columbia for the first time since the helmer’s “Almost Famous” in 2000. Crowe and studio topper Amy Pascal have a long-standing relationship that dates back to the filmmaker’s 1989 “Say Anything,” when Pascal was an executive at 20th Century Fox. Crowe made “Jerry Maguire” — his biggest box office success — for Columbia and Pascal.
Film, which will begin lensing in January when Stiller and Witherspoon’s schedules open, brings together Rudin and Crowe for the first time. Columbia’s move is reminiscent of Pascal outbidding several other parties in February to make Roland Emmerich’s pricey “2012.” Once again, Columbia is ponying up a sizable sum to add an instant slot-filler to its slate.
Elizabethtown was awful.
I wanted to throttle Kirsten Dunst. Or myself.
Count me as guardedly excited. I love Cameron Crowe’s work (my screen name on some other boards is “ethanvahlere”), but I was very disappointed in ELIZABETHTOWN, and Stiller and Witherspoon have both been on autopilot lately.
I’m a moron.
I know CC is one of the best writers/directors out there, but how does Crowe + Rudin + Witherspoon + Stiller = expensive movie? I know Reese makes at least $15 million per picture, but I can’t imagine the other 3 commanding 8 figures a movie.
I’ll be seeing this when it comes out. I haven’t been disappointed by a Cameron Crowe movie yet and own them all on DVD.
