Deadline reports that Warren Beatty will write, direct and star in a new pic for Paramount. Beatty hasn’t made in a movie in a while – he hasn’t acted since Town and Country in 2001, and hasn’t directed a feature since Bulworth, in 1998.
“Warren’s script is quintessential Beatty, elegantly written and wonderfully entertaining,” said Grey. “It is our privilege to have one of the great artists in the history of the film industry come home to Paramount.” The movie is expected to go into production later this year.
Beatty won an Oscar for directing Reds, and has been nominated for his acting four times – he probably would have won if it hadn’t been for Anthony Hopkins, who gave one of the best performance ever in The Silence of the Lambs.
Quick, a top ten best Beatty performances:
1. Bonnie and Clyde
2. Reds
3. Shampoo
4. Bugsy
5. Heaven Can Wait
6. Splendor in the Grass
7. McCabe and Mrs. Miller
8. Ishtar
9. Bulworth
10. The Roman Spring of Mrs. Stone
Thanks to Phil Contrino for the heads up.
