First of all I would like to say excellent blog! I had a quick question in which I’d like to ask if
you do not mind. I was curious to know how you center yourself and
clear your head prior to writing. I’ve had a hard time clearing my
mind in getting my ideas out there. I do take pleasure in writing however it just seems like the first 10 to
15 minutes are lost just trying to figure out how to begin. Any recommendations or tips?
Cheers!
i love gladiator tooooo
will Cameron Diaz score thanks to this? let’s hope it for her!
Can’t wait to see Cameron Diaz in this. She hasn’t had a good role since Mary.
I thought she was good in “Vanilla Sky” – actually, she’s the only good thing in that movie.
I’ve read the screenplay and from these first visuals it looks like Ridley has let the Cormac McCarthy story be told. Diaz is going to blow alot of her haters minds. This movie may not be for the academy but I feel critics will fall for it. Here are some other photos and the movie is just about making beautiful people look more beautiful.

That has been the ideal scenario from the get-go. Assuming Cormac’s script at the very least great, add to that Ridley’s rarely matched directorial powers and this could be brilliant. I mean who’s gonna rewrite McCarthy? Ridley had the PROMETHEUS script fucked over many times and in so many ways the results were, well, less than brilliant. Scott’s execution is so damn good that it can even elevate a self-sabotaged piece, and I ended up loving it anyways.

I haven’t read the script because that’s not something I’d ever do, but if it ends up being a critical darling maybe the writers, directors, and the more high-minded actors give it enough support to arrive at a handful of nominations; granting it doesn’t appeal to the academy at large.
Come on, it’s just the trailer. And only 44 seconds at that. They’re selling the concept and the tone.
I hope it’s good. I’d like to see Ridley give us one or two more good movies. The last few have been god-awful… the last picture of his I really enjoyed was Matchstick Men… 10 years ago. And I worship the man!
This looks like Ridley Scott’s U-turn.
Gotta say.. I’m not intrigued by this.
The talent and concept is there. Please be good. Please be good. Hell please be great.
The cast members all look sharp as if walking out of Vogue mag. I am vainglorious : ) in this sense; so, I embrace it as bonus.
Looking forward to the film mainly for Ridley Scott’s name.
Gladiator: A-. Black Hawk Down: B+. Matchstick Men: B or B+. Prometheus: B- or B.
(At least this could be a good ride as far as mainstream flick goes. And I personally like Scott’s style.)
Always glad to hear I’m not the only one who absolutely loves GLADIATOR. The Director’s cut is even better!
Welcome to the club, Bryce.
I really enjoyed (loved) Gladiator on the silver screen. (The ambience in theater also made a huge difference in this case.) Great cast, especially Crowe, Phoenix, Reed and Harris, to name a few (kudos to the casting director, the director and producers). On top of that, Scott’s magic, Crowe’s wonderful performance, Phoenix’s, Hollywood-budget production, etc., did help make it happen.

Amazing theatrical experience.
Solid A-.

Just to be clear: I edited it myself prior to clicking “Post Comment”. [Apologies for redundancy]
They are intriguingly leaving Fassbender in the background in favor of highlighting the star supporting players. He doesn’t even get one line in! I assume his character is a man of few words, but he is supposed to be the star of the film. He should at least get something.
Fassbender’s a very underdeveloped passive reactive lead. And kind of a plot device more than anything. He’s spends a lot of time listening to other people’s monologues.
Kate, have you read the script? I am surprised that Michael was more like eye candy in this first trailer. I sure as damn hope in future trailers, especially the theatrical trailer that he has a speaking scene. I reckon Ridley hired Michael for a purpose as the LEAD actor.
Waste not.

Diaz, Bardem…Russian.
Of course Fassbender looks marvelous, but I’m very intrigued about Cameron Diaz. She looks kick ass!
ikr!
why is this is in Russian? anyways looks great. Sexy, sultry and very arresting.
No idea what they are saying but looks intense. Surprised a bit how good Diaz looks. Very interested in this movie. Anyone have any info on the script or how good this could be?
