Les Miserables has 72 on rottentomatoes while Nine has 37.
Les Miserables will have 120 mill domestic or more to Nine’s 19 million.
Les Miserables leaves some people sobbing.
Nine left people thinking: what dreck did I just watch? Meh.

And Nine Had 4 Oscar nominations. S.actress, art direction, costumes, song.

I respect people not enjoying and perceiving Les Miserables as flawed. But it would be nice to provide harder facts.

Well if nine got four Oscar nominations Les Mis will probably get a whole bunch!

    Good podcast.

    Piggy-backing off of John:

Dreamgirls 78% RT (2 wins out of eight nods). Didn’t make people break down and cry, though.

Les Mis: 74% (It will win two minimum [Sup. Actress, Sound Mixing] out of a possible minimum nods of 7 (Actor, Costume, AD, Makeup, Picture), with an excellent shot at 8 or 9 (Song–always a weird category; Cinematography–regardless of closeups), or 10 or 11 (Editing, Director), unlikely at 13 (Screenplay, Sound Editing), or, if we’re talking pie in the sky not-going-to-happen 15 (Sup. Actor, Sup. Actress #2).

Nine: 37% (4 nods). Universally loathed.

Phantom of the Opera: 33% (3 nods). Universally loathed, except for commenter Antoinette.

Sasha, why is it that you don’t mention Paul Thomas Anderson with the other contenders for Best Director? The Master is a great movie (in my mind, the best of the year) and you should count it as one of the contenders because if you don’t, people will forget about it. He deserves to get in. You should be campaigning for him as well. You said you loved the movie, though not as much as Lincoln or ZD30, I know.

All the Oscar bloggers who are fans of the master, who is still a contender for BP, BD, Actor, Supp. Actor, Supp. Actress and Screenplay, should be campaigning for it. You don’t have to worry about Lincoln, Argo or ZD30 ’cause they’ll get the noms you want from them. The Master might be snubbed altogether. If you think it’s one of the best visual experiences you’ve ever had in a movie theater, you should at least mention it among the contenders for BP.

^I meant BD, for “best director” right at the end, sorry.

[Brokeback] I am hoping those (voters) who’d been torn first between Brokeback and another film, whichever it might be, but decided to vote for anything out of the five save for Brokeback, did so because for artistic reasons they preferred it to Brokeback rather than the so-called fear of gay western movie. I mean it’s not fair. But I tend to agree, in reality some of them (voters) might not be ready for Brokeback in that sense, probably — as you’ve mentioned in the Cast — some elderly voters included.

And thanks for sharing briefly about how your sister may have been feeling about 0D30.

Anyway, not sure if Bob Dylan’s quote is true or not in this sense; I hope it’s not true – after all, we are discussing critics (and voters) here. They were not supposed to follow the pack save for their own minds professionally; or, there is no point to read their reviews in general.

Side note: This is my first time for your Podcast, Sasha. Your voice is so sexy and sounds very delicious LOL. And you sound like Aimee Maan, too. XD
