Critics’ Choice Winners!!!

Critics' Choice

Fargo and Mr. Robot predictably dominated the Critics’ Choice Television Awards, the sixth time the group has handed out awards specific for television. Mr. Robot was joined by fellow freshman series Master of None in the, respectively, Best Drama and Best Comedy Series categories. The 3-hour ceremony was hosted by Silicon Valley‘s T.J. Miller. This year, the Critics’ Choice awards combined their film and television ceremonies. Only series airing between June 1 and December 31 were eligible. FX Networks’ Fargo led the pack with eight total nominations and received 4 wins including Best Limited Series. Amazon’s Transparent and, surprisingly, HBO’s The Leftovers followed with six nominations a piece but received only one win a piece.

By taking this opportunity to shift their eligibility window, tonight’s Critics’ Choice winners did take some unpredictable turns, particularly in the Drama Actress category where Carrie Coon won for The Leftovers. The more predictable winners typically air in the spring and were ineligible for this round of nominations. Obviously, it remains to be seen how many of the new faces recognized here will translate into Emmy nominations.

Check here for a complete list of the nominees.
