‘Empire’ Leads NAACP Image Awards Nominations

The 47th Annual NAACP Image Awards nominations were announced Tuesday in categories covering both television and film. On the television front, Fox’s Empire leads with 12 nominations following closely by ABC’s Black-ish with 10. ABC led all networks with 28 nominations. One relatively shocking nomination (for those who pay attention to such things) is Angela Bassett’s nomination for Outstanding Actress in a TV Movie, Miniseries, or Dramatic Special for her grand total of about 25 minutes of screen time in American Horror Story: Hotel over Shanice Williams’s heavily buzzed and praised lead turn in NBC’s The Wiz Live!

The awards will be presented on Friday, February 5, during a ceremony broadcast on TV One.
