Fall TV Predictions: What Will Hit, What Will Miss

Labor Day is over, which means we’re headed into the fall TV season. A new crop of shows will be premiering on the big networks (ABC, CBS, CW, FOX, NBC).

Every year, I personally like to make a mental list of what I call “Drop Watch,” where I predict what will be canceled (past winners have included ABC’s “My Generation” and CBS’ “We Are Men”). This year, I’m going all out, with predictions for each new show of the season.

Here we go!

    Megan,

I have 3 I’m at least hoping will succeed. Gotham, How to Get Away with Murder, and Red Band Society. I think at least the first 2 will made it past 2 seasons.

I was a HUGE The O.C. fan, and Southland fan, so I am really hoping that Benjamin McKenzie will do well with Gotham. Plus, the show just looks cool anyway.

As for How to Get Away with Murder, I like these crime shows, and this one looks like it will have a nice twist on that style.

Red Band Society will hopefully take over for Glee, once Glee ends this upcoming season. I need a good, silly show that’s not too serious. This one looks like Glee 2.0, so that makes me happy.

It’s funny that you associate Glee with Red Band, because I do the same thing. Swap out the singing for cancer.

The hard part of getting into a new show is that
    1. It takes time away from shows I’m already watching
    2. The show might get cancelled before the first season ends
    3. Too many shows to chose from, and I forget their on
    4. I can’t remember when they air
    5. By the time I remember to check them out, 3 – 7 episodes have already aired

But, every reason I’ve listed is no more than just an excuse. I can check these shows out after they’ve air by watching them via On-demand. Or if they’re available on Hulu-Plus. The only shows I really can’t watch during the season is HBO, Cinemax, or Showtime shows.

Now, I know they’re available on iTunes during the season, but iTunes only allows for purchase, not for renting. Stupid.

I don’t see “2 Broke Girls” on the “What’s Getting Cancelled” list. 😀

2 Broke Girls is an old show. I’m only looking at new ones. : )
