HBO has confirmed the ongoing rumors that Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn will star in the second season of True Detective and that Justin Lin (Fast/Furious) will direct the first two episodes.
The new season will shift from the moral swamps of Louisiana to the sun baked haze of California where the network says production will begin later this fall.
According to the press release, Farrell will play “Ray Velcoro, a compromised detective whose allegiances are torn between his masters in a corrupt police department and the mobster who owns him.” While Vaughn will be “Frank Semyon, a career criminal in danger of losing his empire when
his move into legitimate enterprise is upended by the murder of a business partner.”
