This week at the Water Cooler, we’re continuing our month-long coverage of the upcoming Golden Globe Awards, nominations to be announced on December 6. Today, we look at the Golden Globes Comedy series races. Will a yet-unseen new season of Marvelous Mrs. Maisel dominate? Or will Chuck Lorre’s The Kominsky Method, starring the great Michael Douglas, dominate despite mixed reviews? But most importantly, who will be this year’s Golden Globes Comedy actress ingenue?
But first, Megan has better cell reception so she can properly dive into her experiences at the Napa Film Festival. Plus, it’s finally time for Clarence, Megan, and Joey to trade out their nonperforming Fantasy Oscar candidates. Finally, we pause to consider what we’re most thankful for this holiday season.
We close our podcast, as always, with the Flash Forward to the media we’re most anticipating in the upcoming week.
Once you’re done stuffing yourself with turkey, make sure to catch up with Joey’s Our Favorite Movies Volume 6 pick with 1985’s Clue. Yes, we really mean it.

Nowhere else, I found, to put this other than here. Variety’s annual survey of TV’s top paid performers is out:
Comedy: https://pmcvariety.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/comedy-chart.jpg
Drama: https://pmcvariety.files.wordpress.com/2016/10/drama-chart.jpg
Drama is a little whacked with its rank. The shows that are at the top are either finished already or canceled.
If Anna Kendrick isn’t up for M/C Actress in a Film I’m going to…
…say harsh things on my blog. Grr.
The optics are gonna be hilariously messy if the Globes prostate themselves at the altar of Maisel ONE DAY AFTER THE 2ND SEASON IS RELEASED. Nominations are 12/6. Maisel’s 2nd season debuts 12/5. That’s warped.
Good lord, Paul. Don’t you ever get bored with yourself?
Your pet TV show and your private fetish actress lost the Emmy to a brilliant series that is universally adored, and that fact has apparently afflicted you with incessant gassy mouthfarts for the rest of your life?
Can’t you move on to another topic to shit yourself about?
As opposed to the shit you projectile vomit about? TCA Comedy Series winner, still 100% on Rotten Tomatoes. Just saying.
Ohhhhh. TCA.
What’s that?
Television Critics Association. They’ve only been around for 34 years:

I know.
So what is it?
They’ve been trying to be important for 34 years. Kinda sad, actually.
Ask Thad Cochran. He’s been a nonentity nobody senator for 35 years.
Seriously can you give up on this one day? I love the good place too, it’s a fun and surprisingly smart show but you don’t have to spend all your time on here whining endlessly about how it’s not recognised and attacking another truly great show that is. We all disagree with awards sometimes and if you do and choose to put a post up like I disagree that’s fine but we’ve all heard you about this a thousand times. It’s getting old. Move on.
This is what you don’t get…great reviews and fan adoration don’t always equal awards. Think it should? You’re setting yourself up for failure if you think everything you think should win everything does. How are you not getting this? Stop trolling the posts to see how we don’t jizz all over your show. Jesus Christ dude. We’re not fans of the show–so what? Follow something that does.
