I can’t help but think every time I see that Watchmen pic I’m seeing a whole bunch of Mr, Wrestling II masks staring back at me (a famous wrestler from the 70’s – google a photo of him and you’ll know what I’m saying).
There was a scenario for a briefest moment that the Good Place had a chance to shock the world in 2 months. And it all hinged on the Emmys nominating K-Bell. In hindsight, since TGP got series, actor and both supporting acting nominees, if Bell had gotten in, that would’ve presented the voters with an alternative to the mediocrity that is Schitt’s and Maisel. Both of those shows split the Comedy Series vote, and then the standard bearer for broadcast TV would be able to walk through and win the top prize.
But in the next instant, they went from that intriguing prospect to one where they could be shut out. Not even Whenever You’re Ready is safe in writing, due to, of all things, the shocking, unbelievable showing of What We Do in the Shadows scoring 3 writing nominees. WTFork? Nice way to show one of the pillars of Peak TV out the door in its last chance to scoop up everything, btw. [/sarcasm]
