So, I suppose one ought to acknowledge the odd story floating that Marion Cotillard has insulted all of America with her questioning the events of 9/11. Supposedly, the story goes:
I think we’re lied to about a number of things,” she said, singling out September 11. Referring to the two passenger jets flown into the World Trade Centre, Miss Cotillard said: “We see other towers of the same kind being hit by planes, are they burned? There was a tower, I believe it was in Spain, which burned for 24 hours. It never collapsed. None of these towers collapsed. And there[New York], in a few minutes, the whole thing collapsed.” Miss Cotillard suggested that the towers, planned in the early 1960s, were an outdated “money sucker” which would have cost so much to modernise that it was easier to destroy them.”
I realize it is sort of old news right now and Cotillard’s lawyer has released a statement that she never really meant to insult Americans, and yadda yadda yadda. Surely we live in a society evolved enough to allow for differences of opinions? How many of us still believe that President Kennedy was shot by our own government? Those who are inclined to believe conspiracy theories will always believe conspiracy theories. I guess I’m wondering why it matters to anyone what Ms. Cotillard thinks? No offense to her but I could care less, honestly.
