and i love the “(The message of the film) is that even people without talent should live for all they’re worth…”
uh whay do i love that bit. ha ha smile…. 🙂
I totally agree Sam. I am a huge Mickey Rourke fan and having watched his recent work before Sin City in which he managed to tear through the screen with small bit roles (the Pledge, Get Carter, etc.) I have been waiting for him to get his due, which at the very least, ought to be a leading role. I’m so glad he’s the lead in the Wrestler because I feel we will be able to watch his great talent shine in this film. I hope that if the film works out (which it seems that it will), Rourke can finally get his long overdue recognition.
The Wrestler! Better start to consider Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood for a supporting nod….and I know it’s a tough category, but why not Mickey Roarke?
I thought Ridley Scott’s Body Of Lies was to be screened at Venice Film Festival. Am I totally missing it on the list or has something changed?

Oooh, a new Takeshi Kitano movie! I hope it’s slightly less confusing then Takeshis’ was…
I didn’t know Arriaga was directing his own scripts now. I guess he does hate Inarritu after all…
I was really hoping I’d see “Doubt” on that list…
I just heard from a friend who works at a movie theater that they got the movie poster today, but I have not been able to find it online. anyone hear anything?
Look Darren, barring a preference we’re going to put you on a wrestling picture, Mickey Rourke. I say this because they tell me you know the poetry of the streets, so that would rule out westerns, pirate pictures, screwball, bible, roman… look, I’m not one of those guys who thinks poetic has got to be fruity. We’re together on that aren’t we? I mean I’m from New York myself, well, Minsk if you want to go all the way back. Which we won’t, if you don’t mind and I ain’t asking. Now people are going to say to you, Mickey Rourke, wrestling, it’s a B picture. You tell them: BULLSHIT! We do NOT make B pictures here at Protozoa. Let’s put a stop to that rumour RIGHT now!
yw, Alex7.
UpcomingFilmScores.com says Clint Mansell re-teams with Aronofsky for The Wrestler. Not sure how reliable is that source. Though why would they lie? 😎
Fingers crossed.
Thank you for the link Ryan. This is great news that the Wrestler is making its appearance at Venice Film Festival. I am confident the film will turn out to be a powerful documentary-style character drama. Here’s hoping Mickey Rourke finally gets his due, since this is his first starring role in some time.
Oh by the way, does anyone know if Clint Mansell is scoring the film? I read on some websites that he was, but would like to see if anyone knows. If so, I’m getting ready for another great soundtrack to add to my collection!
The Wrestler tops my WoW! list too. If anyone is interested in seeing the script, it’s being shared here: The Wrestler
I wonder if the Wrestler will come out this year, I always thought it was going to be released on early 2009, but so was “Juno” so you never know. I wonder how Aronofsky will handle regular subject matter.
The Wrestler has even wrapped up post-production?!?!?
I mean just a month or two ago it was still filming……or maybe its just me not paying attention.
I hope it does better than The Fountain.
