Thanks to jennybee for reminding us to take the latest mojo measurements for The Dark Knight. Passing two more milestones, the domestic gross for TDK is now $502,421,000 and the worldwide gross is $919,121,000 — passing Jurassic Park to claim the #10 spot on the all-time worldwide chart. Within days the Batman will sweep past 3 or 4 more titles on the chart below. 3 of the top 7 titles on the worldwide chart were nominated for Best Picture. (The 4 films that were not nominated all involved Pirates and Potter.)
I’m impressed with the editorial restaint in not using a headline that said “The ‘Dark Knight’ Returns!”

Elessar, I wholeheartedly agree that Walk the Line, GN&GL and Syriana were better than both Crash and Brokeback, although I thought Munich was a bore-fest.
Hell, I even liked Crash better than Brokeback. It just amazes me how much people still talk about these movies (not that I mind at all, they can talk about whatever they want, as far as I’m concerned).

Craig (mind if I call you Craig?): When did Wells start doing that? I stopped visiting that site long ago due to the intolerability of Wells and certain of his posters (I particularly despised Josh Massey). You and Burmashave were among the few good, decent posters there.
Re Crash vs Brokeback: let me be clear that I have no dog in this race. My favorites of 05 were MUNICH, SYRIANA, WALK THE LINE, and GN&GL. Neither of those two really appealed to me.

I think its great news when any film makes the $500 million mark. Even with today’s inflated prices it is still impressive when you consider how many forms of entertainment are available now.
If the subject is no longer of interest to some, why not just move on to the next article instead of bashing the editors for posting the news?
I love TDK news and updates. I actually start to get the shakes if I go a day without hearing about my beloved dark knight.

Sasha, just do what Wells did and purge everyone who doesn’t agree with you.
Ryan and Sasha: feel free to burn those notes. Even in the instances where I disagree with you, I enjoy your input. Don’t pay the hecklers any mind. It’s their own fault: they keep coming back for more.
Between the time you posted the chart and now, it’s been updated with TDK moving past Shrek 2 into 9th place.
Last time I checked, Star Wars: Episode 1: The Phantom Menace WAS NOT nominated for Best Picture. 😉
…and still it wont get a best picture-nominee!

oh, I kid because I love.
I saw Hamlet 2 yesterday and there was a small line.
Except that they bought tix for TDK, and I had the pleasure of laughing at Hamlet 2, with 2 other people.
Also, “Tell No One” is an amazing thriller. I’m telling everyone.
Ryan, “My Pixar check bounced — but it bounced with astonishing 3-D cleverness and came to rest with an adorable sound effect, so all I could do was say, “Aww.””
LOL!!
But I think you forgot no using political means or soft porn to highjack boards that are supposed to be about John Lennon’s mom, and no calling Australia the next Dreamgirls before anyone has seen it.
Just to be absolutely certain I don’t break any sacred boundaries in the future, is Brokeback praising tacitly bashing Crash?

A great film. Probably the best comic-inspired film.

^Estimated tickets.
As far as the last 20 years go, TDK is behind only Titanic, Phantom Menace, Forest Gump, Jurassic Park and The Lion King.

haha, Sasha. No Religulous, No Expelled. No W. doubt, no Doubt doubt. No optimism about any Middle East movie; no skepticism about any Eastwood movie. Plus the all-time worldwide grossest taboos: No Michael Moore, no unprovoked Crash-bashing, and no use of the F-word*
My Pixar check bounced — but it bounced with astonishing 3-D cleverness and came to rest with an adorable sound effect, so all I could do was say, “Aww.”
(*fanboys)
Ryan and I are taking studious notes. No Dark Knight box office, no Barack Obama and subsequent, contrived, inevitable Oscar tie-in. Benjamin Button is okay for now. Wall-E is still off limits because we were being paid by Pixar and, let’s see, am I missing anything Ryan?
and wasn’t last tuesday the first day the dark knight made less than a million in a day ????

Looking for VCB gross, I’ve just learned all Woody Allen movies have made $438,430,781. I knew he wasn’t the most popular, but still compared to those figures above…
touché Timothy
That’s pretty significant, Ethan. Where did you hear about the attendance numbers? I’ve searched to no avail.
Ok….no offense is meant at all….because I’m as bad as anyone….but do we really have the right to be irritated over hearing about TDK’s gross over and over again when we are the ones coming to the website over and over again?
Yeah I’m tired of it as well, but I think TDK is going to pass its biggest milestone domestically tomorrow. It’s going to pass Shrek 2 in attendance, meaning that TDK has sold the most tickets of any film this decade, the most of any film since The Phantom Menace.
That, I have to admit, is pretty cool.
What about now? How much did TDK make?
And now? Ten minutes later?
…
now?
