Patrick Goldstein loathes Oscar bloggers. He’s got Tom O’Neil hopping mad. His constant obsession with Oscar bloggers really has to stop. Doesn’t he have better things to do than police what other people are doing?
Oscar watching is like porn. Maybe it’s not even like regular porn – maybe it’s like furry porn: it’s so odd ball and specific most people are confused by it. Except those that are into it. And they’re really really REALLY into it. Goldstein writes:
Anyone who doesn’t believe that the Oscars haven’t been thoroughly hijacked by a gang of daffy, clown-suit-clad Oscar bloggers making endlessly moronic best picture predictions just hasn’t been paying attention.
Well, that’s the thing, isn’t it. The furries have hijacked good old fashioned porn. It’s funny that he thinks the Oscars have been hijacked. The Oscars are what they’ve always been. The race is cluttered a bit with too much chatter out front but let’s not forget who was on this beat years ago: Patrick Goldstein. Let’s not forget who has been doing this article about Scott Rudin and Harvey Weinstein, that article about The Reader. In between real stories he has to go tattling on people who are, quite frankly, just writing filler to pass the time with an increasingly interested audienced.
So O’Neil writes filler, Anne Thompson writes filler, Dave Karger writes filler and then Patrick Goldstein writes filler about their filler. Can’t we all just agree to accept each other’s lifestyles? If Goldstein doesn’t care for furry porn perhaps he ought not constantly watch it? Just a thought.
