Cannes Lineup at Last

The lineup doesn’t appear to be half as interesting as the speculation pieces leading up to it. It never is, though. Expectations have a way of getting raised.

Jeff Wells remains optimistic for Christopher Nolan’s Inception:

There was no mention of any extended product-reel screening of Chris Nolan‘s Inception, but then there wouldn’t be at an official Paris press conference. An announcement of this could happen in days to come, or so I’m hoping.

At first pass, my eyes went immediately to Abbas Kiarostami’s Copie Conforme, Alejandro Gonzales Innaritu’s Biutiful, Kitano’s Outrage, Mike Leigh’s Another Year, Bertrand Tavernier’s ‚ÄúLa Princesse de Monptpensier.” But perhaps more education will build some excitement for the others.
