The New York Times reports that Nicole Kidman will star in the Tennessee Williams play Sweet Bird of Youth. Kidman is perfect for this, as she seems perfect to be play any of Williams’ female characters; she would make a great Maggie and a great Blanche, now especially.
The Academy Award-winning actress Nicole Kidman plans to return to Broadway in the fall of 2011 to star in a revival of the Tennessee Williams play “Sweet Bird of Youth,” to be directed by David Cromer (“Our Town”), a spokesman for the production said on Friday. Ms. Kidman was last on Broadway, in her debut, in the 1998-99 season production of David Hare’s play “The Blue Room.” That show drew mixed reviews but was a hugely tough ticket to come by, given Ms. Kidman’s star appeal.
